there are 19 Works in the Fitch "Coop" Cooper/Eleanor O'Hara tag. 18 of those were written by me. 1 was written by someone else...as a gift fic...for me. the rare pair is rare pairing.

Reasons people may decline to comment or kudos on fanfiction they enjoyed:

They consider comments and kudos transactional compensation to the author, and they don't feel that the work was good enough to deserve compensation, or they don't believe they owe compensation to fan authors in general.

They consider comments and kudos as feedback, and they don't feel that the author wants or needs feedback from them.

However, comments and kudos aren't compensation, and they aren't even necessarily feedback either.

Comments and kudos for fan authors are:

encouragement to keep writing

reciprocation of a bid for connection

interaction with your community

confirmation that they're not the only one interested in their story

Please don't consider comments, or especially kudos, purely transactional or purely a form of feedback. Comments and kudos are a way to show authors in your community that you're glad they're there.

Authors aren't "entitled" to kudos or comments, but readers aren't "entitled" to fic, either.

Fanfiction is a community, and when an author repeatedly reaches out to their community for connection only to receive silence in return it is very discouraging and can result in the author withdrawing from the community altogether.

"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.

I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.

TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

this has something that i'd been working on for quite a bit... well, to be honest, this started as a branch from another Coopara(?) post-canon fic i'd been dabbling in. anyways, it morphed into this and i dunno, should i leave it as it is? or make it into a (yet another lol) multi-chapter fic?

“It cannot be.” His voice was a whisper, rough and unsteady.

Rhaenys raised her chin, defiance flickering in her amber eyes. “Alas, it is.”

“How do you know?” His question came quick, almost desperate, his voice low and strained, as he began to pace in a restless circle, his movements jerky and uneven. “You cannot be certain—”

“I know.” Her voice cut through his, quiet but unyielding.

Her succinct answer only seemed to unsettle him further. He turned away abruptly, his boots crunching against the gravel as he resumed pacing. The orange glow of the torches painted his figure in shifting light and shadow, the movement highlighting his tension.

“This cannot be,” he muttered, more to himself than to her. “Not now. Not in the middle of this damned war.”

He stopped mid-step, spinning to face her with a sharpness that sent his silver hair flying, an intensity that bordered on accusation. His expression was conflicted, anger and disbelief warring with something else—something he wasn’t ready to name. “When?”

She folded her arms, her gaze unwavering. “A week past.”
