“This is hardly what I trained for.” she said referring to the simplicity of the mission. “The exam was more complex than this.” she sighed suspecting what the reply would be and not really wanting to hear it. 

“At this point I would be dropping in another team so secure the captured ground but they cannot flank up in this instance. Ugh I could really do with a cup of tea.”

“As steady as a rock, Springfield.” as IDW purred and skipped in front of them Enfield saw the other rifle’s technique she tried it on the handgun, two pats before it felt silly and she withdrew her hand.

“This should be the last of the enemy resistance. Make sure you are reloaded and ready.”

“Oh smart smart, at least you’re thinking about the bigger picture. And is that an order, or merely a comment ‘Commander’.” The Vice-commander would pause on poking fun, looking over everything with a happy grin.

The purpose of this, was all to move fast in the next battle, so neither rifles suffered damage from the mortars.

“As ready as we need to be, for these good girls to do their best.” Springfield answered, moving fast to keep up with the handgun and smg that rushed forward. The enemy units coming up, all were in position but the commander and Enfield would need to instruct the back rifles to move in and for the front duo to move too, simply to put themselves too close for the mortal units to fire.

But would Enfield and the Commander notice this, or would Springfield be taking some explosive fire a moment into the battle.

It was good that she had her mask on because beneath it felt hot as her chin was lifted, hot and stifling so she reached up to rip it from her face as she was released. This was unusual and she would check herself in for maintenance after this mission.

“Checking supplies and recovering data on fallen enemy unit.” she said before moving forwards, kneeling next to the fallen Sangis and making sure they were offline permanently.

“Our extraction point is one of those buildings. We will attack ourselves to a single skyhook and get picked up by aircraft.” there it was again, the malfunction though less pronounced as she looked at the other. A tightness in her chest and odd heat in her cheeks. The possibility of this being caused by contact with the enemy could not be overlooked and so as a precaution she would secure her mask back on.

Ak stared on ahead, a hard thing to tell when her eyelids always seemed shut, but the faint glow of purple light in the low light proved she was indeed looking. “Good, let’s move. Take the Sangvis’ memory device.” Ak instructed, as usual acting with cold calculating commands. 

Except each time she passed An, she would tap her shoulder, tap her head, give her a soft touch before they’d raise their guns and proceed forward, alert and ready.

“We made noise, prepare for several attempts to cut our retreat. Even with the ringleader defeated, some of these Sangvis and programmed to go on till they’re shot. I trust you to make their wish come true and remove their heads if that is the case.”

“And An.” The silver haired woman turned briefly, “you did acceptable today, good girl. Let’s end this on that same good note understood?”

Almost mercilessly Ak would take out Hunter’s legs after several of An’s shots collided, slowing it down, essentially killing it but Ak wouldn’t let it get away. It feel to the ground, An’s reload coming up as the Sangvis unit began to spout nonsense, only for Ak to put one last round into its head before moving back to rejoin An.

She approached her An, placing a hand on her chin to twist her head left and right, inspecting her for any scuffs at all. “Seems fine. Check out supply, then we move.” Ak ordered, eyes closing once more as she stood to keep watch, allowing An to check over her rounds for their exit.

Saturn waited for the button to be pressed, which it was done without fanfare. Only the sound and sight of the drones deploying warned her.

The moment they moved forward she raised her weapon, immediately firing away into one of them – and a little too hastily, at that. In less than three seconds she had fired seven shells, and it fell over, likely ‘dead’ by the third. She switched targets and continued – but the weapon only barked once before it hit empty. The target was still approaching.

It took her a long six seconds to consider this and reload. She wasn’t close to having seven new shells in before the drone was in front of her, in shooting position.

“… This is where I put up my armour, right?” She sheepishly asked, before shooting twice into the target at point-blank range, making it fall too. “… I could’ve done better than that.”

“This is where you’d make sure you haven’t expended more than you should. We’re the front line, armor is always up, always ready. Controlled shots.” Saiga scolded a little, “we want to push them back and off, and break anything close. There’s no point if they are close and you’re out of shells.”

“If they get too close, our Machine Guns, like PKP here can’t shoot through you you know.”

PKP’s expression said it all. Stern, stoic, and thoroughly unimpressed. But this shotgun would one day be her bulwark and if mistakes like that happened then they could both be damaged.

“SAT, Saiga is correct.” she stepped forward, to stand next to the shotgun. “You are a shotgun with a limited ammo capacity. it would help if you remember how many rounds and count your shots. It should be easy for you. Better plan for now is one single target. You will fire at it continuously and then reload before you hear the click of death. I will set up the target, please remember to count your rounds.”

“You look bored oh Commander.” And she’d hardly waste a second to snap in. Enjoying the fun so far, simple missions like this had little to do but some arrangements and to not leave T-dolls hanging when commands needed to be given.

Others though would require a constantly ordering commander, this next battle a good example of needing to be on their toes. The drones pulling in small mortar like enemies, hidden far enough back behind other advancing enemies. The back line fire power would need to be moving fast, but the front couldn’t just leave them exposed. It would be a good test.

“Very steady! Be strong! Let’s move, and be fast on our toes.” Springfield would give IDW a reward in the form of a pat on the head, to help them all get a nice smooth feeling for the next movement. Showing her advanced mind off a little.

And without a second’s thought she did, sending a barrage of bullets towards Hunter, fully expecting AK to join in and stopping only to reload and she would not stop firing until the enemy either got out of sight or was destroyed.

The commander sighed, the sub-commander would be able to see her look away from the screen listlessly. 

“well that is that over…” she looked at the girls’ stats and then at the map as it came up. The next encounter would be tougher but there still seemed precious little she could do to affect the outcome. It was a little boring to say the least… not what she expected from a job at the PMC on the front lines.

“I am steady…” once the combat had died down she was. “Orders are to advance to the next node and expect resistance…”

The shotgun’s weapon was loaded, the range was now clear to use. Saturn turned to the side and gave another grin to Saiga before she looked back down her weapon’s sights, bringing it up to fire from a standard position.

“I’ll try my best. Ready!”

“Don’t pout PKP, I’ll make it up to you with my share of practice drones.” She tapped Saturn’s shoulder to encourage her before standing back to watch how PKP would set the targets up for the shotgun.

“A machine gun does not pout.” she programmed the drones to charged directly forwards and stop to fire when they got in range. This new gun would be challenged by even this simple task she felt. Then she hit the button and turned away from the scene, pulling the box free from her gun and grabbing a fresh one. She din’t need to watch this and she always liked to be fully laoded.

An would no doubt get a mouthful of words later, Ak didn’t want her to surrender but make use of the ‘supposed’ injury to finish her job of killing the snipers. It was her duty, but Ak could work with this. She would no doubt tease the poor girl about having to finish her job though. But teasing could wait, letting An proceed with her plan Ak waited before the support units showed themselves.

There Ak would strike, dropping the kill An hadn’t caught. Leaving Hunter alone, the droid knowing this and making a run. A run that Ak would follow, grabbing An’s rifle and tossing it to her as they chased her down. “Finish the job my An.”

The Vice-Commander watched on, she knew with Springfield there, things would be okay in the worst of circumstances. But this was to flex both the rather confident commander, and the reliable but perhaps not as command experienced Lee Enfield.

“Lee dear, keep steady.” Springfield reassured as sure enough M950A was able to tug that silly cat back into the best position for their team, handling the oncoming group with little damage. Just a few grazes that could of been avoided.

“Y-You really didn’t have to do this you know?!” She commented as she puts the gift her little handbag, she really wanted it to eat it then and there but she doesn’t quite have the guts to ask permission to open it, not to mention she’s in a public setting where anyone can see her enjoy it. 

“Don’t treat me like a child, I’ll eat it when I can!” Oh, she’ll definitely enjoy a lot of it, knowing how delicious Springfield’s sweets are.

“Oh Wa. I’m not treating you like a child.” Springfield took a pace closer, there was no box this time in her hands. So she simply just hugged the other up close and with a smile added.

“I’m treating you like someone I like, so. Enjoy~” Though she’d keep it at that, poking Wa’s nose with a finger before releasing her.

Her eyes searched Ak’s until she was chastised and she averted her gaze, wordlessly going through their well-practiced movements until only one enemy remained, and with the enemy’s words there was one action that came to mind.

It would give AK the kill shot…

“I agree to your terms.” she stood and threw her rifle aside so that the Sangis doll would hear. Out of cover now she spoke to the enemy. “We are damaged, allow me to carry my superior from the field.” words that would hopefully make the enemy rise to betray her word and attack allowing AK her shot.

“Yes Ma'am.” Springfield smiled, locking another bullet into the chamber to fire off, taking another doll down. Only a few remained, and poor M950A was getting a little iritated.

She didn’t want IDW near her, it drew fire, she didn’t want the cat to switch with her, only to move in front, the handgun using doll almost in a flush of worry as two of the remaining Sangvis dolls took aim at the nearest foe.

And with IDW’s summersault, that foe was her. “H-hey wait!” The girl leaped down to dodge, using her high mobility to evade, knowing one hit to her would mean a lot more damage than one to IDW’s durable frame.

“Wait ma’am? What is a missclick... Switch back...” the SMG dodged forwards, Enfield trying to keep up with the commands, her rate of fire slowing.

Ak shook her head as the mask shattered, she was remarkably find, the entire scene played out as if it was planned to make her look cool. But in truth it was just merely the expected risk, to take out snipers without having a rifle on their side meant they had to do more.

“You didn’t get both, focus now.” Ak set herself right back in motion, repeating the same sequence without words, knowing An would follow as if they were thinking the same thing. And of course, the sangivs sniper would fall for it too.

Once they were taken care of, all that was left was Hunter, the two pistol wielding Sangivs doll had kept herself hidden before speaking out.

“T-dolls, lay down your arms. You can all go home, continue your meaningless operations.” Hunter spoke with a cold tongue, back against the wall but knowing she could damage each well enough if it came down to it.

WA tightens her arms around Springfield the moment she spoke of the scary scene, shivering in fear as she resists the urge to turn away from the screen, unfortunately, despite her best efforts she let out a ‘kyaaa!’ and turned away, shutting both her eyes tightly. 

A few minutes after the credits began rolling, WA let out a relieving sigh before slowly getting up from the ground, dusting herself off a bit. “Th-… That wasn’t so bad..!” She commented, still a bit nervously despite the movie being over.

Being in the middle definitely had its perks for Springfield, seeing Enfield clung to her ‘supportive’ weapon, of course a hand going onto the barrel with a stern. “No loaded weapons,” reminder. 

That darn supportive gun though, meant Enfield wasn’t cling to her like Wa was now. Such a chance missed but Springfield would revel in her little victories. Her ploy was coming together successfully. Enjoy a moving and have two friends clinging to her like children.

Springfield would make sure one arm was around Wa to help relax her, happy that they seemed to at least watch the whole thing. “And that was only the first! Fun no? Hehe. Wasn’t so bad? What about you Enfield? Like it?”

“I did not bring any ammunition.” Enfield stated, her voice sounding like it was being forced to be calm, it would be unseemly for a rifle of her caliber to her afraid after all.

“Like it, it was meant to be liked. I was under the impression that it’s purpose was to induce fear which is not a liked emotions and therefore the production itself as not meant to be liked.” in a time of stress she was overanalising the problem.

For about five seconds the shotgun kept her hand extended to PKP, but dropped it once certain that the machine gun wasn’t going to respond. It seemed the moment has passed too, so she instead moved back to her booth, beckoning Saiga over. Her smile hadn’t faded despite the lack of response from the MG.

“I’d be happy to do that! I’m not experienced, I’m afraid I haven’t been out there yet. I was an A-doll just five months ago. But I’ll do my best! How many drones am I allowed to use?” 

Fishing a box of shells out of her bag, Saturn put one into the chamber of the weapon and then seven into the bottom of the weapon, and for good measure, stuck five in the ready-position on the stock.  Thus loaded, the weapon was ready to go - but the T-Doll waited for her new compatriots.

Saiga was there to reassure the other that all was well. “She’s focused right now, but talk and she’ll talk back. That’s just how PKP is. Right?” Saiga slapped the back of the other’s foot to alert her not to be too rude, though mostly it was just to tease and be fun.

“As many as you want, but let’s start with 2 advancing drones, they’re sturdy so you need to aim well, reload fast. Okay? Let’s let PKP pick how they advance though, for surprise! And testing!”

Unfortunately for everyone involved the tap came at the same moment as a burst of machine gun fire that veered a bit to the side and the machine gun slammed her palm into the button to pause the drones.

“Very well. Then I will control the drones...” she said her eyes focused on the two shotguns. So she wasn’t going to be allowed to enjoy her last drones for today... the limit had been placed on her otherwise she would use the unit’s entire budget on them.

She placed her weapon aside and turned to face her body towards Saturn, reaching up to grab the control lever. “I will simulate the behavior of low level Sangis drones. Inform me when ready.”
