The Squadra Flying Tigers swept the top two steps of last weekend's UTCX elite race at the Big Cottonwood Sports Complex. Justin the Beast extended his winning streak to "who's counting?" and Mark Flis outfoxed the chasing challengers to claim 2nd place. UTCX returns to Big Cottonwood for a rare (at least in Utah) double weekend of cyclocross racing. Look for the Jamis pumpkin orange Supernovas at the front of the race! All photos here by Abby Doll.
It's no secret that the folks who put on the midweek P-Town CX series like to give out wads of cash to the top five in the A category. It's also no secret that the Squadra Flying Tigers could open up a 401k with the cash they have won over the course of this season at P-Town. We're sad that last week was the series finals, but happy to see Justin "Beast" Doll (2nd) and Mark Flis (3rd) make a Driscoll sandwich on the podium. It's only fitting that Mark Flis wins the overall men's A and takes home the commemorative wallet. You see what they did here, right? Cash...wallet. Great job!
Here is a photo essay of the USAC category 1-3 race at this year's Cross Vegas event. We weren't sure if we could top last year's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishes, but when Mark Flis nailed it with the fastest lap of the night on the bell lap and crossed the line with arms in the air, we confirmed what we already knew: Squadra Flying Tigers always seem to be cooking up something special at Cross Vegas!

Cross is coming. Last Sunday, T$ did the Wasatch 360 mountain bike race, teaming up with Jonathan Page. This shot was from the first lap, and with the Lemans style running start, and pedaling most of the lap, it sort of felt like a cross race. JP did his first lap on hi cx bike. The duo team of T$/JP, called "We Got Kids" finished first overall and was the only team to do 9 laps.
So that thing where you see @johnprolly post up some new shoes and people comment about the new things on @girocycling ohhhhhh interesting things.
I think I've found a good place for our team photo. Hill Air Force Base aviation museum, Ogden, Utah.
The Jamis tent has arrived! If you see it at any of the remaining UTCX races, come on by and say hello to the Squadra Flying Tigers.
Justin "The Beast" Doll out sprinted Justin Lindine for 2nd today. Papa Sager took the win. Squadra Flying Tigers also had Mark Flis in 5th and Thomas Cooke in 6th. Fast weekend of racing in the 801.
We've been having a midweek glue sniffing party over at Squadra Flying Tigers HQ. A few of us will be shredding the local CX scene on HED Ardennes tubies. Can't wait to try them out!
Tom Horrocks gets the win for Squadra Flying Tigers!
Squadra Flying Tigers kits are available to buy. Send an email to [email protected] and we'll send you a link to Squadra's online store.
A few of these won't hurt my chances at Crosstoberfest, will they? Too late!
Erik try to be keeping of the up!
Not to be worrying there will be passes!
Johnny Mac flying high at the Weber Fairgrounds in Ogden. Good for 2nd place in the 35+ Masters race. I guess those Friday openers worked out ok?
Little buddies, getting ready for Friday openers. #jamis #squadraflyingtigers
Did you miss out on getting a Squadra Flying Tigers kit earlier in the season? I'll bet you did, because we only made a really small batch of them for the Utah Squadron. If you are outside of Utah and want to get your hands on a flying suit, Squadra is selling them direct. Check it out!
