I wish people would stop derailing my post about trans women's periods to talk about trans men's periods. Yes, obviously you deserve to talk about yours too, but could you make your own goddamn post about it?
There is *zero* space reserved for trans women to talk about our periods. Most trans women keep quiet about our symptoms every month, opting to suffer in silence, because most people get very angry at us for even so much as mentioning that we get periods. Any time there is any kind of event to talk about trans people's periods and offer support for them, trans women are excluded.
So could you stop pushing us out of my own goddamned post about it!!
Honestly for a long time I didn't think trans women got periods, so I was confused. So I looked it up
Obviously trans women don't have periods the way we think of most periods, no uterine line shedding, no blood, and no cycle. But taking estrogen can lead to pms symptoms, and from the brief description I read reminds me of being a teen when my cycle was setting in. The worst part about that for me was how irregular my cycle was and how dismissive drs and even women around me were.
There's not enough research on cis periods, and there's not enough research into trans health, so most women will be told their symptoms are nothing.
I'm a trans guy and thankfully don't get my period anymore, but I remember how bad they got and the treatment from others. Can't imagine knowing what the experience is like and not listening to trans women just because there's no blood
