Recently lost one of my cats, so obviously not in the greatest of headspaces, but I’m doing my best to fight through my horrid attention span in order to slowly extremely slowly tinker away at my drafts.

🔧 STEVEN

Steven was not aware they were friends yet. It was so much easier for him to make friends when he was younger but now he wasn’t doing so hot. He was depressed and felt hopeless most of the time. He honestly felt like he was miserable to be around and that’s why he tried shutting most people out. Steven chuckled nervously at his concern. He often didn’t realize how serious his trauma was. He thought of it and talked about it so casually that he forgot how serious it all was. How disturbing. 

“Really it’s not a big deal. I’m making it sound worse then it was. It doesn’t hurt much anymore. Just mostly when it happened and after got stitched up.” That was actually his first experience with a doctor. “Plus you know it wasn’t like I grew up with her. She thought I was my mom and she wanted my mom to come back so she pulled out my gem so she would reform. Didn’t work obviously.” He laughed in amusement. 

IT WAS MOSTLY PHINEAS’ FAULT FOR ASSUMING THAT EVERY PERSON HE MET WANTED TO BE HIS FRIEND, JUST BECAUSE HE WOULD WANT TO BE THEIRS.  It had always been relatively easy for him to make friends, apart from a few instances throughout his childhood; though he’d never let that bring him down, or stop him from reaching out to others. He'd long been described as a bit of a bleeding heart, and as Steven tried to chuckle away his concern, it only served to make that obvious (  if it hadn’t been already  ). 

‘ POOR STEVEN ’, HE THOUGHT TO HIMSELF.

“ . . .Steven, it’s a huge deal, you almost died. A-and to think that you had to get it stitched up afterwards. I can’t imagine having to experience all of that ”. IT WAS JUST TOO HORRIBLE. “ That doesn’t make it any better ! Seriously,        even if it was to try and get your Mom back, that doesn’t mean attempted murder is suddenly okay ”. Has he even had therapy?

🔧 JERVIS

        The Hatter stands back tall, only made all the more towering a figure by his absurdly high hat, chuckling at their flattering description.  “ Oh, well   I understand, dear boy… my title can be a tad misleading at times…  Though haberdashery is my passion   I, in fact, used to be the finest in the neurological field! No, you shan’t find another like my work anywhere! ”  Though the confidence of his triumph was unabashed at first, it’s quickly tempered by some sort of shyness, as he wrings his hands and sheepishly grins.  “ … I-if I do say so myself. ”

Such vivacity. He reminded Tetch of himself at his age. What harm would it do him to help the two boys in their endeavors? After all, what a joy to have the company of an inventor… who wasn’t likely to kill him.   “ Ah..! ”  The Hatter hums, finger tips tapping in an arch.  “ Memory. That’s been a subject of my fascination for QUITE some time… Of course, there’s the rather common method of ‘total recall’   a very established way of digging out long term memory via hypnosis… Which I happen to practice. Oh   but YOU want to do something a bit more exciting, I presume? ” His smile curls in thought at more interesting possibilities as he paces in place. “ Mayhaps… project the memory digitally for another to see, even? ”  

It’s  not  that  Phineas  hadn’t  believed  Jervis  to  be  a  brilliant  man;  to  do  what  he  did  would  be  near  impossible  if  he  weren’t,  it  was  simply  the  accepted  fact  that  those  he  and  Ferb  encountered  ( and  were  friends  with )  never  seemed  to  specialise  in  the  fields  that  their  project  of  the  day  was  based  in. The  young  inventor  was  beyond  ecstatic  to  be  proven  wrong  in  this  particular  instance.  Actually,  beyond  ecstatic  may  have  been  an  understatement  in  this  instance,  as  it  took  every  ounce  of  self  control  that  he  had  not  to  explode  in  giddiness;  especially  when  the  thought  of  what  was  now  possible  to  accomplish  with  the  help  of  Jervis  .

“  Absolutely  brilliant,  ”   he  lets  himself  say  after  a  moment,  a  grin  slowly  making  its  way  onto  his  face  ;  though  quickly  relaxing  itself  into  a  far  more  toned  down  smile  as  Jervis  seemed  to  become  more  shy.  

His  enthusiasm  couldn’t  be  held  back  entirely  though,  and  it  very  clearly  showed  through  as  he  reacted  to  each  and  every  word;  growing  more  in  awe  by  the  second.  He  almost  couldn’t  believe  his  luck.  “ Yes!  ”  He’d  shouted  in  reply  the  second  his  ears  registered  the  words  ‘  more  exciting  ’,  because  he  and  Ferb’s  unofficial  motto (  aside  from  ‘  today  is  gonna  be  a  great  day  ’  of  course  )  was  to  go  bigger  and  better.  More  exciting  was  exactly  what  they  wanted  to  do.  

Phineas  clapped  his  hands  together.  “  That  would  be  totally  awesome.  A-and  also  maybe  the  ability  to  save  those  memories  somewhere  outside  of  the  brain,  so  that  you  could  view  them  any  time  you  wanted  to  ”.

Okay, so I’ve finally got all my shit sorted out. I apologise for not being around/being real unreliable, hopefully now I can actually get to what I owe.

“  This  is  going  to  sound  strange  but...  ”  hopefully  they  didn’t  think  he  was  nuts  for  what  he  was  about  to  ask  them  .

“  Have  you  seen  me  anywhere  ?  Like  ,  not  me  that’s  here  now  ,       but  somebody  that  looks  exactly  like  me  ?  ”  Yeah  Phineas  ,  you  sound  insane  .

one  second  ago  ,  the  teenaged  inventor  had  not  been  in  that  seat  ;  yet  now  he  was  ,                having  appeared  in  the  blink  of  an  eye  .  It’s  quite  odd  ,  though  he  doesn’t  say  or  do  anything  that  indicated  that  an  occurrence  of  this  nature  was  anything  but  normal  to  him  .  No  ,  he  just  sat  there  ;  happily  munching  away  at  a  sandwich  that  his  mom  had  made  him  .

I  keep  thinking  of  Phineas  saying  “  it’s  not  what  he  doesn’t  say  ,  it’s  how  he  doesn’t  say  it  ”  ,  and  I’ve  been  thinking  again  of  how  it  means  that  Phineas  interprets  Ferb’s  silence  differently  depending  on  the  situation  .  I’ve  been  thinking  that  it  means  Phineas  is  particularly  empathic  when  it  comes  to  his  brother  Ferb  ,  in  a  similar  way  to  how  Rocket  Raccoon  can  understand  and  interpret  “  I  am  Groot  ”  as  meaning  different  things  depending  on  the  circumstance  .

Phineas  may  not  swear  ,  but  I  bet  Ferb  is  always  thinking  of  them  .

Everytime I think rafting sounds fun, I'm reminded of the time as a scout that I got stuck under a raft and almost drowned.

Phineas: "So not only have you been leading a double life this whole time, but you sat there and let us help an evil scientist open an evil portal into an evil dimension, and you did nothing to stop us?!" Ferb: "Well, he did pee on the couch." Phineas: "No, no, that wasn't enough!" Me: "Phineas, buddy, your platypus also bit the evil scientist and tried to steal a piece of the evil portal to the evil dimension. It still wasn't much, but my point still stands."

That scene always gets me because you and Phineas are both right 😭 I ended up rambling so here’s a cut so y’all can skip it lmao 

Perry did everything he could reasonably do without revealing his identity, and given the circumstances, he probably thought that he did what he had to and that it would be alright. It's just Heinz after all, and any trouble he gets into usually doesn't extend to anyone else. As far as he knew, it wouldn't have been worth blowing his cover because if he let them finish the portal, the odds of anyone getting hurt were slim to none. By the time he realized this was basically a worst case scenario, it was too late to pull out.

But while Perry did everything he could reasonably be expected to do, Phineas was also absolutely right because Perry could have stopped them and he didn't. He put his own feelings above the safety of his family, because even if the odds of the boys getting hurt was low, it was still a possibility. And it has to have looked a lot worse from Phineas's perspective, too, because he didn't know Heinz like Perry does so it looks like this is something Perry should have expected, and the fact that Perry's been keeping this secret from them for years had to make it even worse.

I think that's the worst part is that they both acted rationally and that they were both right to react the way they did, and I hate that it's not a black-and-white "you're wrong and he's right" type of situation because that's so much easier to rationalize, if that makes sense? It would be so much easier to pick a side but it’s impossible not to sympathize with them both because neither of them were unreasonable (and no matter how many times I see people try to argue that Phineas overreacted, I stand by my opinion that he had every reason to react like that)

I  seriously  might  have  to  commission  an  artist  when  I’m  paid  to  help  me  figure  out  what  Phineas’  multi  Lantern  Corps  outfit  would  look  like  .
