Oh Minzy is the main rapper and subvocalist of 7rophy.
+ Day Two: Talk about your muse’s childhood. Where did they grow up? Did they have any dream jobs besides being an idol? When did they realize they wanted to be an idol?
Minzy grew up in Seongnam, South Korea. She always, always wanted to work in music, but it was never even a thought to be an idol. She always imagined she’d work on a virtual band - something similar to Gorillaz or Studio Killers. She valued the idea of being able to put her music out there while maintaining her privacy. She didn’t realize she wanted to be an idol so much as realize taking the opportunity presented to her was a possible in to studios as well as the music industry.
+ Day Three: Take us back to when your muse was either recruited or auditioned to become an idol. How did that go? How did they feel getting up on stage for recruiters? If your muse could give their younger selves advice before the audition, what would they say?
Minzy was recruited after a talent show at her school, where she’d performed Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz. She took the opportunity for a private audition, thinking little of it, and traded it for Clint Eastwood by the same band. She wasn’t particularly nervous, not seeing it as having much to lose. In the end, she was accepted, so she supposes there’s not much to change, but she finds it a little embarrassing now how far up Gorillaz’s ass she was.

was there anything in this world minzy hated more than auditions? she doubted it. still, here she was, texts from her manager pulled up on her cell phone, reading through them, trying to commit them to memory. when she was satisfied, she turned off the screen dim timer just in case she needed a refresher and turned on a camera. flipping the screen so she could see everything on it, she brought it to her bed.
"hello, my name is minzy. i'm twenty one and i'm 7rophy's rapper. please view my audition with favor." the words felt clunky as she said them, but maybe that wasn't so bad. it wasn't as if she was exactly suited for variety, and she liked her home. it was just the right size for herself and eunah. why should she be on a show about living elsewhere?
"i live with my groupmate and friend eunah and our cat crys. we left the dorms earlier this year, and it's treating me well. i think i do best when i'm comfortable, which eunah makes me." there's a hint of a smile when she talks about her closest and most beloved friend, breaking her usually stoic expression.
"i think the biggest struggle for me in regards to living with people would be discomfort in general. i don't like sharing personal space with people i don't know well. i'm not comfortable with the thought of strangers - even kind ones - living with me." she tucked one leg beneath her and leg to other dangle as she spoke. "i find it hard to connect with someone if i can't have space to do it, as well." that wasn't strictly true, but it was as close as she could imagine getting to the truth without her manager snapping at her for being too negative. the truth was, while she could be friendly in general, it was hard to even want to develop a working relationship while in close quarters. it had taken long enough for her to warm up to 7rophy - and that was the thing. it had taken more time than space (though she did like her space). she didn't want to be on this show.
peeking at her phone, she hummed thoughtfully. "there's really nothing hard about my situation home life right now. the apartment is still new, but eunah and i are really good at living together by now. we're pretty similar in a lot of ways, which makes us well-suited, i think. i thought crys would be harder to get used to, but he's just a baby."
a final peek at the screen. one more question. "i think my house became a home when eunah and i moved in, frankly. we're already practically family, so it's sort of a place to be together, if that makes sense. it's just so easy to be here."
honesty was the best policy, right? she wasn't trying to impress anyone. this was just a gesture on dimensions' part to improve their relationship with the network. there was no way they would have even chosen her if she'd tried - people loved minzy's rapping, her writing, her stage presence. no one loved minzy for her personality. no one was likely to learn much of her personality, unless they were borderline obsessed with 7rophy.

japanese is an interesting language. it’s the nicest thing minzy can think of. her makeup tended toward the simple and concise - eyeliner, mascara, moisturizing lip tint, spf. for the sponsored mv, however, they’d caked her face, put her in some bizarre lovechild of a dog harness and studded belt, and given her what had to be completely disproportionate screentime. during a break to refresh everyone’s makeup, minzy sighed, leaning toward eunah. “ this sucks, right? i’m not just being 𝕒𝕟𝕟𝕠𝕪𝕚𝕟𝕘 ? ” the last word is said with some spite - a spat the day before with a manager left her bitter. “ how are you holding up? ”

minzy sighed, glancing at the alarm clock on her bedside table. 4:27 am. she’d need to be up far too soon. should she even bother sleeping? she’d failed up until then, and whenever she'd managed recently, she'd get sleep starts repeatedly. she eased out of bed, tugging on a vaguely appropriate outfit consisting of a flannel over the wifebeater she’d worn to sleep and jeans. makeup-less and leaving dark circles bared to the world, she left the apartment, trusting eunah would call or text if she noticed something amiss.
she ended up at the convenience store. stirring coffee as she sat on the sidewalk. looking up at a familiar face, she offered a near smile. " you're out late. or is it early? either way... you okay? "
