Seeing the obvious pain flashing through his face, she began digging through her bag for some pain medication before turning to him again. “You came to?” Questioned rhetorically before she pulled out what she was looking for; a water bottle and some tablets. she combined the two, before closing the lid and shaking it lightly.
At his question, she furrowed her brows at his lack of memory. “I was going to ask you the very same thing,” she digressed, “I’m not sure..I saw your fall but not the reason for it.” She eyed him suspiciously before lowering her head to hide her smirk, it was a clever thing to say even in a situation such as this but showing him a reaction felt like encouragement.
“I think this is your phone, I found it right before I found you.” Handing it over, she supported his back as his balance seemed to threaten a fall before he leaned against the tree.
“Will ya stop joking for a minute?” She inquired handing him the water bottle, “It’ll taste a bit odd, but I don’t have any fruit juice on me so I added something that can give you enough to stabilize you if you haven’t eaten or drank anything in a few hours…” Which she safely assumed from his current form that he hadn’t. Gently, she moved hair out of his face that seemed stuck there from sweat and pulled out a towel from her bag patting him gently. “Drink up, and shut up…you need your energy.” She whispered gently, remembering trainee days where this would occur daily and how often she would be around to have to take care of the boys. “Why would Charoen mind?” She inquired raising her eyebrows, what did he know?
The pain in his nose had him reaching up to touch it and he felt a little blood on the bridge of the nose, but luckily not coming out of his nostrils. He let out a small huff of relief-- no broken nose. Cindy’s voice swirled in his mind again and he tried his best to turn his head to look at her, but lifting his head was proving more of a challenge than he was willing to vocally admit.
“Oh you know,” he huffed. “Promotion season. Being busy and passing out seem to go hand-in-hand.” his voice was husky and strained. He heard the sound of water being shaken and when he looked over she had pressed the bottle into his hand. His brows arched but he took it with a mumbled ‘thank you’.
He put the water to his lips and immediately recoiled from the bottle. His tongue stuck out and a loud “Blaugh!” barked out from his mouth. “What the heck?!” he wheezed in English as he brought the back of his hand to catch the dribble from his chin. “What is this?” he asked before taking another drink. The second take was a lot easier than the first now that he knew what to expect. He felt his stomach churn and heard it groan as it took on the supplements.
“Oh nothing,” he sighed as he pulled the bottle from his lips, “I don’t know anything.” His lips curled into a smile behind the bottle.
He looked down at the cellphone that she had held out to him and at first he didn’t seem to recognize it. His hands shook a little from the effort of simply raising his arms as he reached for the phone. He pushed the power button and it showed his now playing song that had been paused during the fall. He pulled his earbuds out and stuffed them into his pockets along with his freshly cracked and chipped phone.
“Thank you,” he said. He rose his head to meet her eyes through the shaggy mess of his hair his eyes were tired but genuine. “Really. I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t found me.” He wrung his hands around the water bottle. “What are you doing out here this late?”
