“Yeah. It’s pretty creepy. But, again, that’s one of the reason’s you aren’t supposed to love this guy so much. He’s got questionable intentions. You see, he only likes this girl because she has a tragic past. He finds her youth and weakness to be attractive, It’s a real problem in society.” She leaned over on her side, tired of sitting up while watching. She made sure not to cause any unattractive line in her skin. Usually Sakura would not dive into serious issues with someone she barely knew, it wasn’t the image of the perfect idol she wanted to project. Everyone believes their idols have the same views as them, you shouldn’t be to political or opinionated. However, Joohyuk seemed to like when she spoke her mind and so she put in the extra effort to do so intelligently.

“Are you telling me you aren’t one of those guys who takes interest in a school girl concept? Whether sexy or pure? You don’t think little pigtail or being cute isn’t endearing in any way? Many people do, I wouldn’t blame you.” Sakura raised an eyebrow, teasing him a little bit. It was somewhat of a power move, acting innocent about the question yet making him feel uncomfortable with how personal it was and fearful that how he would respond may offend her. 

he furrowed his brow, a warm and nervous feeling washing over him at the sudden question. what was she trying to make of him? he ignored the sweat underneath his pits. it was so odd to talk about such turn ons with a younger girl.

“uh, honestly, not really. concepts where women are cool and strong are more attractive to me. when they’re, um, more overtly sexual when I see cute girls with pigtails it’s more of a protective feeling. like a big brother I just want to give them hugs.” it was the truth, he wouldn’t lie about that. 

“oh! jeez. what is in that sack there? some kind of demon or animal?” joohyuk referenced the movie where the young woman sat in a room with only a large bag and telephone. the bag squirmed and reacted to the sound of the telephone ringing, the young woman ignored both.

Friends was a strange word for the relationship between Joohyuk and Gayoung. They were always friendly and got along when they met at music shows and other promotions. They even goofed around in a friendly manner, him often acting something of a scolding older brother to her. Still, something about the face of Legends rubbed her the wrong way. She didn’t quite understand what it was, very few people bothered her. Perhaps it was the jokes he made. She never really understood them, yet she felt like they were condescending or even creepy. He was confusing to her, she didn’t understand half of what he would say.

Now here they were at the snacks table for a commercial they both happened to be in. Joohyuk was the only other person she knew in the shoot. She’d already finished her scene but was told to stick around in case they needed her again. So she happily nibbled from platters as she watched the crew rush around the sound stage. Finally, the single familiar face joined her. She bowed to him politely. 

“Hello, Joohyuk. Have you shot your scene yet?” Hazel nodded before holding up her frozen treat and sucking the chocolate ice cream out of the plastic. She usually wasn’t allowed such foods but her manager wasn’t watching her today. “I’m not supposed to do this. Please don’t tell my manager, oppa.”

“ah, if you don’t want me to tell then maybe you’ll have to do me a favour.” joohyuk chuckled, shaking his head to indicate he was not serious. he couldn’t help but find she looked cute eating candy. “you should be careful sucking that thing around here though, word may spread around that hazel of happiness eats very unhealthy snacks.”

joohyuk picked some grapes from the platter in front of him. the small and refreshing treat was enough to keep him energized. plus it wasn’t messy and he didn’t have to worry about fruit juice getting on the button up they’d given him to wear.

“they’re shooting my part after this I think. it was supposed to be an hour ago but they’re behind schedule probably.”

vieilles habitudes ont la vie dures. when roughly translated into english, it meant ‘old habits die hard’, and yaseul felt like if her mother knew just what she was getting up to in the closets of the company, she would have yaseul’s head hung over the lounge room fireplace. but, thankfully, yaseul was here and her mother was back in paris, so the twenty six leader could live without fear of her mother’s wrath another day.

exiting the janitors closet, the tall idol would depart from one of the female staff workers with a smack on her behind and a promise of a next time that would never come on her behalf before turning on her heel and moving off down the hallway. it didn’t take her long to spot someone leaning against the wall of the hallway, eyeing her in a way that led yaseul to believe that they’d spotted her leaving her latest rendezvous and she smirked, coming to a stop in front of them. “what ? have we got an issue ? or are you just looking to hook up with someone ? because i can help you, if you want.”

he hadn’t intended on seeing anything incriminating, but showing up hours early for a promotion only to be told it was delayed sure curated boredom and a desire to do something within joohyuk. and apparently in others as well.

as loitered the seemingly empty hallways, his attention was drawn to a door opening just twenty feet away. he watched as two women emerged, seemingly after a steamy exchange. joohyuk, realizing he couldn’t exactly run off and hide, decided to play it cool. he wasn’t necessarily surprised. to anyone who had met her enough times, ysoul’s preferences became increasingly obvious. unfortunate for joohyuk, since she was such a beautiful girl. either way, he told himself not to jump to conclusions about the situation at hand.

“no, thank you. I don’t need any help with that.” what a lie. “you should fix up your hair, yaseul. you don’t want to be seen suddenly looking all disgruntled, yeah?” joohyuk teased, hoping she’d understand her meant it in good faith

Sakura scoffed, it was an uncontrolled response but she didn’t regret the impulse. She didn’t know if he was trying to flirt or just had an idiotic sense of humour. Perhaps a mix of both. 

“Yes. Well, I believe that’s the point. You’re supposed to think he’s not that good a guy. And if you do think he’s a good guy then you second guess yourself when you see the character being punished. In movies like this bad things happen to bad people. The victims are usually bad in their own way. Most of the time it’s some sort of revenge.” Sakura closed her eyes, secretly rolling him under her lids. When she looked back at her screen she was happy to see he hadn’t been watching her anyways. 

“ah. right.” joohyuk scratched his head awkwardly. he hadn’t expected her to be so smart about her response. teaches him to underestimate young foreign girls, ( although, she had been part of the company longer than him ). When people are really passionate about what they’re talking about, the intelligence really tends to shine through. Perhaps that’s what he had admired about sakura on their first meeting. the two were able to talk in depth about horror movies and she was so unafraid to express her thoughts even though his status was above her own.

“I don’t understand why old men like women so much younger than them. imagine getting with someone who wasn’t even born while you were an adult. like, when you’re thirty you see a baby and you’d never think in twenty years that they could be your wife. right?” joohyuk’s father was like that. he realized the connection and trailed off his speech, not wanting to get too personal. they just had to keep it casual. joohyuk’s father was ten years older than his mother and left her for an even younger woman before he was even born. maybe that’s why he didn’t get the appeal. It was always something he associated with being greasy.

Joohyuk was popular. She knew of his past slip ups, everyone did. But, hey, scandal let the industry thrive. What would they do without it? Of course, Sakura hoped to never be involved in a negative one. Wonder Records didn’t protect its idols quite as well as HJH did with its ‘family’ so she’s have to tread carefully. In fact, it would be something of a scandal for anyone to even know she ever privately video chatted with Joohyuk of Legends. They’d probably assume she was his next fangirl who he’d betray his company for. As if. She’d never be interested in him that way.

“Don’t worry. You could be deaf and still get frightened by it. There’s subtitles and the scary moments are transcendent anyways. Trust me. But it’s not just dark and bloody the whole way through. It has a good story element and plays with those creepy moments well. That’s why it’s so good.” Sakura was kind of peeved he was already making jokes about not liking what she was sharing with him. These movies were very personal to her. Something felt very off about communicating with someone else in this way, especially someone she hardly knew. Yet to cancel the movie time would make her look bad in the eyes of a Legends member. She couldn’t have that.

Sakura had planned everything perfectly to make the correct impression. This wasn’t like the casual movie watching she used to do with Jiha once upon a time. She made sure to have makeup on in a way that made her look as if she had none and was simply that fresh looking after a long day. Her hair was brushed and twisted into soft waves. She wore a big blue sweater with white shorts. The lighting in her room was good and she watched along at the same time as him with the lights on. It wouldn’t ruin the scares, she didn’t get freaked out easily. Every reaction to the movie was ready, perfectly planned to keep the conversation interesting. 

His heart raced a little bit in anticipation but also for the strange situation. He couldn’t get it out of his mind that she was just a trainee and yet they were sharing a movie together. Maybe it was his conscience reminding him to keep him in line. They were just friends, not even, they were acquaintances just hanging out and watching a movie. It was like anything he might do with one of his members. 

“Well then, it’s too bad you aren’t here to hold me during the scary parts.” Joohyuk chucked, obviously kidding. He was tough when it came to this kind of stuff, he would try not to show too much weakness in front of such a pretty young girl. 

“So, he’s holding auditions for a wife? Isn’t that kind of sexist? I mean, I’m not a girl obviously but that’s not something I’d like watching. Uh, what do you think about it? From a female perspective.” Joohyuk ran his mouth a bit, trying to sound down to earth and aware.

somehow his confidence dropped when he saw her. usually he can hide is insecurity with smooth yet playful flirting to get some giggles going. however, with sora, he could barely string proper words together. joohyuk is smart enough to know his weaknesses, he’s smart enough to realize that he idolizes people too fast and it almost always bites him in the ass. yet, when she walked into the room, he forgot everything his better judgement would tell him. she was just so beautiful, she was one of those girls who made you forget to breathe when she smiled. he’d had feelings for girls like her before, he knew all he could do was be polite and wait for it too pass. it wasn’t even just her appearance, he’d liked girls even more pretty before, but something about her powerful confidence was what became the most alluring to him. 

finding himself as a guest mc at the music show sirens was promoting at today. he’d get to watch her sing and dance live. just the thought of his made him nervous. of course, he’d be on camera, so he’d have to act like nothing was wrong. the last thing he needed was people speculating he was being unprofessional due to desires of the heart...again. 

he walked up to her backstage, half an hour before the show. she was at the table holding an array of beverages for the idols to keep themselves refreshed. he stood next to her, perhaps getting a little...uncomfortably close. their shoulders were only a few centimetres apart. 

“hi! hi, Sora. um, congratulations on your new comeback. it looked amazing, um, especially you! that’s a very nice outfit you’ve got on. uh, I’ve been waiting for your return. I’m glad to- I’m glad sirens has come back with flying colours.”

she should feel honoured. she was just a trainee and he the face of fresh and popular group. and yet, with just a run in with each other in the hallway they found a common interest. horror movies. he gave her his opinion on some and she offered some intriguing ones back. hoshido sakura became an interesting person to him. he wanted to know more, he wanted to share more with her. she told him to watch a popular japanese horror movie, promising it to be very frightening. it took a lot to scare him but he was always open to try new things, he told her in those exact words. she was a cute girl, a beautiful girl, and had such a bright smile. lots of girls smiled so nicely, joohyuk couldn’t understand why anyone would find someone’s smile to be unattractive and yet some idols are advised against smiling by their companies. over the video chat, joohyuk could see sakura smiling in the half of his screen where he wasn’t watching the film. all the lights in his room were out and his roommate was gone. it was the perfect time to get frightened.

“okay, so, i’ve never actually watched a horror movie where i didn’t understand the words they’re saying. i hope it won’t ruin it for me.” joohyuk chuckled, half joking. he obviously couldn’t make such a judgement yet as the movie had only just begun.
