Interview with the artist: Rachel Spencer

What experience of art do you have?

I have just finished studying my BA(hons) Fine Art: Printmaking degree at University of Brighton. Prior to this I studied Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Ferndown Art College. My recent exhibitions include:

50 X 50 = 25, International Printmaking Exchange Exhibition, U.K, Thailand and Japan, 2016.

What’s your favourite medium?

I classify myself as a Fine Artist, but my specialism is within printmaking and photography. My work recently has been involving digital print the most.

What’s something that you’d like to try?

I want to go on a residency, that way I get to go somewhere new where the only thing I’ll have to think or worry about is making work.

What are you doing at the moment?

I just graduated from the University of Brighton. My work is also currently in a traveling international exhibition 50 x50 = 25.

Tell us a little bit about your favourite piece(s) of work…

My most recent favourite piece of work is my collective entitled ‘Perimeter of Vision’. This consist of three elements: projection, three dimensional print and photography. They work together and separately as a way for me to examine the nature of human perception and the range of vision.
