The 10-Things-Challenge Overview (plus The Stories)

Hi y'all!,

while sorting my mod-folder, this idea popped up, and I thought why not share it here if I´m doing it anyway. I´m a newbie at tumblr, so I´m curious if you guys can relate to it.

The idea is to create a room, by combining random CC that I find within the Sims-Community:

I download the first 10 things that I see on a specific day, and put them together with 5 other things that I choose freely (them I call "the wild objects"). I download stuff that I at least *don´t dislike*, but I don´t have to be fond of them, it´s good enough when I´m indifferent towards them.

The goal is, to create with just 15 objects a room that makes some kind of sense. It can tell a little story, or represent a certain style, or an idea, whatever.

It is possible to fail! Sometimes I will not be able to combine the CC in a way that I´m OK with. And thats OK :-) . In that case, I will just list these 10 objects for you.

THE STORIES

Once in a while I will post a story independent from that challenge (but inspired by stuff that I found during that challenge). This storys are interactive, you can influence them!

Until end of this month you can take your pick, how you want to influence this story. I will always offer you some "reasonable" choices, and at least one that is kinda different ;-) .

Please feel free to let me know how that all works for you, if you have ideas how to change it, and so on (also regarding the challenge).

Was away much to long! Hope everyone is doin fine :-) .

Dragonfish Reloaded

I continue the story of the WaterFireGod, for part 1 click here

(1) Remember the gate, where the humanoid aliens came through?:

(2) It changed a lot after them humanoids arived -

(3) The second invasion started at dawn. It all happened very fast:

Some very mighty guards came through the gate...

(4) ...and them tiny fragile blossoms, that arrived earlier with the humanoids, grew within seconds into all kinds of - plants?! :

(5) At the same time, a second gate opened…

(6) … spitting out some more "visitors"…

(7) … all kinds of pretty agressive fellas!

(8) The whole garden of our little unnamed sim changed into a nightmare.

Well, he called them, and they came, right?

(9) They forced him to sit down and stay put on an alienesh-crystal-stone-stool-thingy…

(10) …and startet talking…

(11) … to their GOD! The WaterFireGod. Our well known dragonfish.

(12) Then they told our little unnamed sim, that they will return to their home planet through that portal, together with their god...

(13) … right after they solved this kind-a-tricky problem, that they just learned about from the little fish - sry, your highness, of course -

(14) Turns out, unfortunatly they can not just kill the sim, and leave with their god, as they intended…

(15) … because their god can not survive without our little unnamed sim, due to the bond that exists between them. This bond must be broken of course. Or else!

(16) (Moment of akward silence)

(17) They startet negotiating. Meanwhile it was bright daylight.

(18) They discussed during the whole day…

(19) …and also the whole next night.

(20) It turned out, there is more to the good old dragonfish than we ever imagined:

When he spits fire unterwater, while living with a sim that he has a very special bond with, the fire sinks down on the ground, and turnes into gold.

And you know what they say about dragons… they protect treasure.

Next time I will tell you:

What kind of bond the sim + the dragonfish do have,

what the sim is doing with all this gold?!,

and what the "Fisch des Grauens*" has to do with all that

ITS YOUR TURN NOW!

I want you to have the option to influence the story. You can choose 1 of these 3 options, what you want me to put into the story next:

No 1 - Someone will die

No 2 - No one will die

No 3 - Something will happen that has to do with owls.

Just write it into the comments until the End of April, then we will wrap it up and count the voices for 1/2/3!

* Please someone tell me how this fish is called in English, I couldn´t figure that out! (the dark-greenish fella living in the ponds of graveyards, killing all other fishes, and that can be used for prolonging live) - Or maybe I´ll just make up a new name for it :-D , you can recognize it anyway by the pictures I will take then.

Thank you, @murfeelee! Love your stuff since I played the first time with the telvanni-village, and that was on my old computer (meanwhile, this computer I´m using now is pretty old).

I will also continue the 10-things-challange, weeks ago I already picked the items for the next round - but at the moment, I want to finish that alien-story first!

And yes, I still have to finish the sorting of my mod-collection. That has highest priority, not just because I want to continue playing, but also because of this 10-things-challange I started. For both I need a well-sorted, richly filled mod-folder (lol).

Well. The last weekend I spend downloading nearly everything that Murfeelee ever published :-D ! Just the sorting of this murfeelee-collection alone will take a week, or two, or whatever it takes :-D.

I started yesterday evening with the Letter A. Today I will do the B… like in "babysteps". Like in "Baby Yoda as Teddybear", that is the first mod beginning with a "B" in my murfeel-folder.

Just imagine, this green little fella, how well he would have fit in my alien-story, if I would have known this mod a week before.

Oh NO now I need to do the tagging. I still have NO clue how that really works here on tumblr, although I always watch you other simmers out there, and try to get it.

The WaterFireGod, Story + Screenshots

Here´s the first entry including the links, in case you might wanna open it in a new tab to compare the items from the list.

This time, for the "wild objects", EA-stuff wasn´t enough, so I had to use some CC. Because my mod-collection is still in utterly chaos, I was going on the hunt. Bioniczombies alien-plants inspired me to look for any sims3-stuff that is alien-realted.

Actually, I found so much lovely stuff, that I will continue this alien-scenery a little bit, after the challenge is finished :-) !

But first things first - let´s do the counting again, of the 10 things I found at random, plus the 5 wild objects I picked on purpose:

Obviously, some stupid sim was, again, obsessed with looking very hard for some stupid aliens.

Yeah - just talked to this guy, and he told me, some aliens actually showed up on the televsion-screen to finaly answer his desperate calls. He wants them to get him pregnant.

And… did they suceed?

I mean, to show up in this garden.

This portal is heavely guarded… by some gigantic alien-plants. Of course it is.

(That mod inspired me for this whole alien-thing, it was the last mod I found on my hunt - I already thought about another story, but changed my mind when I saw them plants; you can read about it in part 1 of the WaterFireGod. FireWaterGod? I always mix it up :-D)

Well, I found these creatures on TSR. And also their creator!:

They are in the company of some beautyful glowing flowers. Or is it flowery lights? Who knows, it´s alien-science.

Ugh, you don´t wanna know. This alien-obsessed sim who called that guys, he improvised something whith the monkeybar from his garden. You know how them nerds are.

And before you ask: No, the flowers on the monkey-bar where not grown by them aliens. The sim quit doing any sport and didn´t use that thing for a long time (we already know what he was so busy with instead). So mother nature took over that item.

This stuff from the emerald dream-pack is around 10 years old, and just now I discover it. I already knew Sylvanes' awsome CAS-characters from world of warcraft, but never checked out her mods in detail. Now finaly I did.

Now let me finish the story:

The aliens send a device (on the right) to reach out to the WaterFireGod (on the left).

To us, its just the dragonfish as we know it, swimming around, spitting some fire, doing his thing.

To them - its a GOD!

Sure, what else did you expect?

But no matter what questions they asked, the answers of that little guy always sounded to them alien visitors like "42".

So maybe it was just a translation-problem. Everybody knows how sophisticated fishes are if it comes to language. Not everyone is. Maybe them aliens were not that smart how they thought they are.

At least that was the only conclusion for them, they left frustrated (no they didn´t kill anyone out of anger, this time no one died, really, I promise!).

Maybe one day they will come back and give it a try again, after they learned about this guy, douglas adams, and that the answer to everything is, indeed, 42.

And yes, I actually cheated my test-sim to fishing-level 10, put some dragonfish in the ground and made the test-sim fishing that cute guy. I just HAD to, after I found this awsome fishing-bowl from Majik Goldies. It is so old, and because of that the texture so blurred, that one might think, this blurred look of that item is on purpuse :-D

I didn´t now Majik Goldies' stuff before, just learned about that creator a few days ago, by coincidence, because of this little challenge.

Credits for the story go to a lot of people, all of them CC-creators in the first place, and the Creators of the Sims 3 of course, but also guys like Douglas Adams, Chris Metzen, Duncan Jones, Steven Spielberg, and it´s actually impossible for me to remember any more where my brain picked up all that stuff.

Hi y'all!,

welcome to the second story of the "10-Things-Challenge".

First I´ll show you my hunt again, for them 10 new things. I basicly post here the notes I took while looking for prey, so you guys can have an idea about my decession-making (just leave out unnecessary stuff). I did that search a few days ago, on 28th march.

This time I started at tumblr, again picking a tag: #4to3 conversion. Then tumblr wanted to show me "The best blogs about 4to3 conversion", why not.

First entry is from the creator Ilvan, haven´t been on this site before. A lot of outdoor-stuff again, like yesterday, I love outdoor-stuff!:

1) Fountain Objects, from Ilvan on MTS That Animations of them water-walls look really awsome.

Not sure yet if the next scenery will be outdoor, it´s still possible that I will do something like yesterday and put outdoor-stuff inside a room.

Next thing in my timeline:

2) Monkey Bars, also from Ilvan

So that settles it, the next 10 things will be put in the garden. I´ll take the monkey-bar-version that has some ivy / vine on it, they are a lovely idea!

3) Coffeetable "cold stone", from @bast-sims .

That table is part of this awsome glam-vintage-set that I already downloaded months ago, but was not able to use yet, because all I did the whole winter was - right, sorting mods, I mentioned that already, I know…

Meanwhile I´m already back in July 2023 within my timeline, all the older entrys are familiar to me already, so again I follow some recommendation from tumblr:

4) "Nostalgia Living", from @bioniczombie

It includes

HiFiSystem, TV + TV Remote, VHS Tape, Wall Outlet (Steckdose) + Powerstrip (Mehrfachsteckerleiste), Cablebox (Kabeldose - ich denke für TV?), VCR - Video Cassette Recording, StandingFan + TableFan, Vintage Rug

(Sometimes I write down some words in my mothertongue in breaks, you can just ignore that.)

So, since I´m in the garden this time, this Wall Outlet + Powerstrip are very helpfull, in order to "use" electronics outside ;-) . And it makes no sense to put some fans outside, there is already some air in the garden ;-). Also a carpet doesn´t fit, if there´s any textiles on the ground, it might be towels or something like that. That leaves the electronics from this set.

*Counting-time*: Until now, I have

1-3 fountain objects 1 sport-object 1 table 1 Wall Outlet AND/OR 1 Powerstrip, not sure yet 1 (or) more electronic item

That makes 5-8 objects, so I have to continue searching - good, I´m not ready yet to quit the hunt, it´s to much fun!

Why not stay at bioniczombie ?, there are the options

that I can pick from.

My starting-tag today was #4to3 conversion, so why not stick to that - I pick "Sims4to3-Downloads".

Oh, that is sortet by the Sims 4 packs. Thats awsome, cause I never played that game and have no Idea about the content - why not just click on the first entry?, thats an

5) Expansion Pack, called "Get To Work"

I don´t believe this!, that is PLANTS!! It could not fit better with this garden-things of todays challenge!

Because of the name of the set I expected something work-relatet, like a boring-looking-briefcase (Aktenkoffer), a very-important-looking business-outfit, or some very-serious-looking-glasses, stuff like that. What I get instead is ALIEN plants, thats pretty much the opposite of boring-real-life-stuff!

But - I could have used work-relatet stuff too, for a story:

By littering the ground with it, plus a garden-chair (canvas chair?, Liegestuhl) and some clothes laying on the ground. (always keep in mind the 5 "wild objects" I add at the end).

STORY-ALERT

So for example a guy just came home from work at the office and gets rid of everything he´s carrying, just drops it right there in the garden, and jumps in the watertub.

Yes… I could use this idea in any case, actually. This way the TV of the nostalgica-set would fit in just nice: He´s sitting in the watertub and watching - OK, what is he actually watching? Some pron, or stock prices? Or both, in that order! Yeah. Both. Of course. What a cliche :-D - buuut this idea would work.

So maybe this time no sim will die?

Who knows… After all, these are alien plants, so you-don´t-know-where-its-been!

This idea gives me some great Donald-Sutherland-vibes :-D

I wouldn´t expect them to, cause they are ALIEN, who knows how they function and all. Maybe they can not be touched. Their surface might be kinda imune to human-gravity+stuff-like-that.

I can´t wait to put some alien plants into a garden :-D !

And I didn´t even use any other CC beside the items I downloaded for this challenge, because at the moment I have nothing installed in my game - like I said I am sorting all the mods I have, thousands of them... they are in such chaos, I don´t find anything any more, ooh my youdontwannaknow.

Actually, I wanted to discipline myself, and *not* download *any* new stuff, before the old stuff is sorted!

But... while going through all this files, I got this urge to just PUT THEM ALL IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW!, just everything!, and play with them, all-this-so-wonderfull-things! I guess this might be familiar to you - feel free to let me know :-D !

So instead of finishing the sorting, what will take a while, like the next 5 days, or 9, or 30, ... I will just download some new stuff, piling it on top of the mountain :-D !

Of course this is something else now, right?, it doesn´t count, it´s just because of this challange, that´s different. Of course.

The 10-Things-Challange

Hi y'all !,

a few days ago I startet a little "Challange" for myself:

To Create a room in Sims 3, by combining random things I find within the Sims-Community. So I will download the first 10 things that I see on this day, if I like them, or at least don´t dislike them, and put them together with 5 other things that I can choose freely.

The goal is, to create with just 15 objects a room that makes some kind of sense. For example it can represent a certain style, or a theme, or an idea, or even tell a little story, whatever comes to my mind.

Turns out, this is so much FUN!, to put stuff together that I normaly never would consider to combine :-) !

So I don´t know if someone had this idea before already, it happened while I was sorting CC-files, and this element of coincidence was so appealing to me, that I decided to give it a try.

Now I want to show you my first outcoming, and how I decided which objects to choose, or how the objects chose me; and what rules could be useful or not.

First I visited TSR, to see what's new there. The newest entry was:

1) Emporia Livinigroom-Set, from ArtVitalex

So that are 7 objects already - meaning I have to leave this site now (?) .

--> Working on the rules:

Would be much to easy if most ot the 10 objects would come from the same set, but I think 3-4 objects from one set will be OK.

And I wonder if I should leave a source after finding the first "thing", or if its OK to stay on the site, and just go back in the timeline to the next entry of another creator? I guess it depends on how often I will do this challange - 3 times a week, 3 times a month...

BACK TO THE CC -

Then I went to tumblr and chose the first of my sims3-tags that are CC-related, it was #s3ccfinds (some of the first entrys were reblogs from wandering sim).

I skip all CAS-Stuff, just looking for objects to put in a room.

I counted until I had "10 things" = single objects:

So this time the 10 objects will be from 6 diferent creators.

Plus the 5 "wild objects" I can chose freely.

--> Some more specifics about the rules:

For example them posters from wanderingsim, thats 1 object, but its a huge collection of 33 posters = items. In a case like that, I might use 3-4 different looking items, I treat this object like a set.

The Screenshots I put in a new blogpost.

During this first challenge, I changed some stuff I a bit, that shows in the pics: added windows; changed styles; changed postition of the poster + sofa.

I will lead you through the scenery pic-by-pic, counting the objects up to 15.

Ah yes, I did some testing again (still setting up the Sims 3 completly new). And the test-wify is pregnant again. So, what is he saying to her in this screenshot?:

Maybe he says something like:

"You sure this is the right recipy to get a plant-sim-baby?"

Or unrelated to the pregnancy:

"How often will our USER make us eat this recipy again and again?, I cant stand it any more!?"

So lets see his face to get a clue:

Hm he doesnt look desperate at all, more like relaxed + amused. So maybe he says:

"I love your new cravings for avocado! It surely beats having peanutbutter-banana-sandwich 5 times a day and 7 times at night…"

or he says something like

"See, told ya this recipy is totaly worth it to get yourself an avocado-hand!!"

(meh thats lame)

Aaand what will she reply?

Na I have to stop this!, me, Queen of Procrastination, and continue to sort them hundreds of sims-3-hairstyles .

This is my test-household. The nice thing about test-households is, if you are bored of all the testing, you can just play a round for chilling. Yeah I was so chilled all the time that my female Sim got pregnant ;-) . Now in another testing-break I let them dance a bit - and seeing them think-bubbles made me neary fell off my chair :-D !

Well, I like tumblr! Lot of people here that a wired enough for me ;-) . Still have problems with the UI, though. Nethertheless, meanwhile I´m under the impreesion, I´m gona stay here, at least for a while. No idea if I ever will put some real content in here, at the moment I´m still tumbling through all the great blogs all day long :-D ! Just one pic I wanna post, of my VampySimWoman, how she really looks. I chose a screenshot of her for the logo-pic of this blog, but it´s way to small to see her properly (I guess I have to choose another logo-pic for the blog).

That is a real screenshot, no posing. I´m not into this posing-thing. Like in real life: I don´t like masking. And like in real life, a moment that was authentic, is priceless, because it´s so goddamn rare!
