Tshd has me in such a chokehold that it's even putting ch 40-3 in my latte bro D:
Does anyone else see the vision
(The slices are flipped but it's kinda like we're just seeing it from behind him if you think about it. From where everyone else was standing)
I specifically requested my son come home in one piece. What is this?
Gestures to the bag of suspiciously familiar limbs
The people insisting Yoshiki needs to let 'Hikaru' go and have a normal life need to shut up, experience the atrocity that is the Killing Eve finale, where the "monstrous" character was killed off so the protagonist could be "normal", when all they wanted was each other and were so close to being happy together, and then tell me if that's what they want.
Because I assure you, it really fucking isn't, especially when it contradicts the stories' themes and would only make Yoshiki suffer.
‘hikaru’ always eating lots of food despite having no actual hunger/desire for it at all, bc it’s fun and most importantly he just likes to share things with Yoshiki.
and how Yoshiki regularly indulges what ‘Hikaru’ finds pleasurable despite it being completely separate from any innate desires Yoshiki himself has, purely because he wants to understand him better.
both just kinda feel…strikingly similar to the sex-positive/neutral ace experience. which could mean nothing. in the series known for being full of heavy allegories. and centered around an ace relationship

Everyone's freaking out over them not having accents. I'm freaking out over that fuckass sound quality, girl why am I hearing the mic pop. And wtf is that voice direction? Its so stiiiiiiffff
do you think asako feels left behind. watching her friends move on, their relationships changed, while shes stuck watching. as much as she pushes and pulls to help and Be there, she still has to be powerless to watch. to listen. to yoshiki and hikaru and their mess, to yuuki and maki and their little budding romance to the side, to tanaka while he does the communicating with the things she can only hear. thats why shes so stalwart in doing whatever she can to help. to pull tanaka to safety, to get it into yoshikis head he needs to stop second guessing himself. she doesnt want to be stuck just listening and watching the world of the living and dead go by.
i wonder how much undue responsibility she feels for whatever happens, if shed blame herself if anything went wrong whether it was in her power to change it or not
Did the crossovers reached the author? Yoshiki is low on sanity, what will he do now? lol
Perfect crossover 🤩
I wanna talk a little about the iconic scene when Yoshiki reaches inside Hikaru. We all know what it symbolizes. But it's more than that. Our unexpressed emotions can manifest in the belly and chest. They're kind of "stored" there. The sadness, fear, anxiety, disgust, excitement and joy. "Hikaru" opens himself (literally) and says: hey, do you wanna know what's inside me? And it feels really good for him to finally share his secrets with Yoshiki. Like "good pat on the head" Because patting on the head in this case means: I see you, I feel you, you don't have to hide yourself. For me it makes this scene even more intimate. Especially knowing that Hikaru was hiding his true feelings and "Hikaru" had problems with expressing them. So he just showed it all. It was raw (like chicken) and overhelming - like our suppressed emotions can be.
Monster?
Angel??

TSHD FINALE SPOILERS
Here is my theory on what could the snake possibly mean in the last episode of s1/ chapter 26 and it has something to do with The little prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, so if you haven't read that book beware of the spoilers!
At the end of the book, prince wants to go home to his planet so he makes a deal with the serpent, but since his body is too heavy to bring back with him he needs to leave it on earth. So when it’s time for the little prince to finally leave, the serpent comes to him and “bites” him and the little prince collapses.
The following morning, the prince’s body is nowhere to be found, leaving the ending open to interpretation. Did he die, or did he truly return home?
In this case, "hikaru's" home would be the mountains ofc.
I made a fan animation for The Summer Hikaru died
Demon lord yoshiki
the look of love, or evolution of hikaru’s gaze
since we got the scene of hikaru watching yoshiki at the beach in episode 12, i have seen a lot of people compare it to the ed scene of yoshiki and hikaru, to show how hikaru wasn’t looking at yoshiki when he turned around, while hikaru has been looking at him even before he turned around. and it got me thinking.
it got me thinking of baby yoshiki and hikaru at the festival, watching fireworks. you know those magical lights that fly up to the sky and explode against the tapestry of the vast darkness? the beautiful, fleeting lights that every child is fascinated by, and watches with amazement in their eyes? well, apparently every child but hikaru, who instead turns to the side to watch yoshiki, and how the fireworks reflect in his eyes—how they make his eyes sparkle. his eyes fall to the boy by his side, even though there’s ‘magic’ in the sky. and to me, that is a moment of pure adoration and love that’s so easy to see in children, because they simply cannot help themselves.
then, somewhere along the way, hikaru learns what it means to be an indou. he learns all about the sin of his ancestors, and how he has to now carry their sin of loving too much, once upon a time, to the top of a mountain, just to beg for forgiveness. he learns that to love too much is a sin. he also learns that if he ever falls for someone, he has to marry them right away, so that unuki-sama doesn’t take them away. and i cannot imagine how isolating that must feel.
so, hikaru learns to love less. learns to look without being noticed.
then, hikaru goes to the mountain to beg for forgiveness. but the lonely boy, who could not cast his gaze away from his friend all those years ago, dies before he can fulfil his duty. so he makes a wish instead. for anything to stay by yoshiki’s side.
and hikaru fulfils his wish. and not only does he stay by his side, he also learns to love him in his own way. hikaru who doesn’t know societal norms. hikaru who doesn’t have all of hikaru’s memories at first. hikaru who doesn’t know about the indou’s sin. hikaru who doesn’t know that love has bounds and restrictions in the human world. hikaru who doesn’t even know what love is. that hikaru feels hikaru’s emotions in their purest form. and he builds on them.
so really, it goes from watching lights dance in yoshiki’s eyes as hikaru, to watching his soul shine brighter than any star in the night sky as hikaru. but both are equally loving in their own way. and both, unsurprisingly, happen during night time, where the darkness can be a place of unbound adoration—where eyes linger longer than they should, and where souls recognise the burning warmth of one another.
This low-key made me tear up ngl 🥲
