The reason I like the idea that Pandora would be a Lestrange is solely fuelled by the fact that Xenophilius means "lover of the strange," or "lover of the foreign," and I feel like this should be talked about more.
Contrary to popular belief, the House of Black's integration into French pureblood circles is relatively recent. Even if a couple of its members married or descended from French aristocrats (such as Antares, whos mother is presumed to have been a member of a long-lost member of a pureblood line), they didn't have an actual family-line there until Alphard Black I (1908-1971) married Celine Greengrass (1908-1972), who was the daughter of an Scottish pureblood, Cedar Greengrass, and a French aristocrat, Sophia Macnair.
They had four children, but only one passed down the family name: Atlas Black, the oldest child and only son. To his parents' dismay, he only had daughters, whom he loved dearly (and secretly he preferred them being women so they wouldn't carry the burden of the heritage in case of the disappearance of the English line).
Only one of their daughters, Belvina Black II, married a French man, Victor Sayre. Their youngest, Ganymede, never married, and their second, Vindemiatrix, married a Spanish man, Jaume Nomdedéu.
Laurentius Malfoy (b. 1951) was the eldest son of Druella Rosier and Abraxas Malfoy. He was born five years after his parents graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Laurentius was named by his mother, who, following the tradition of the Rosier family, gave her son a floral name. Throughout his childhood, Laurentius had always been the prized son of his father, Abraxas, whose main priority was to raise the boy as heir to the Malfoy family.
Gleditsia Malfoy (b. 1953) was the second eldest child and only daughter of Druella Rosier and Abraxas Malfoy. She was the carbon copy of her mother, oftentimes being compared to the Lady Malfoy in appearance and demeanor. Gleditsia was closer to her father than she was to her mother, since the young witch felt like she was living in Druella’s shadow.
Narcissus Malfoy (b. 1955) was the younger son and the youngest child of Abraxas Malfoy and Druella Rosier. He gravitated more towards his mother than to his father, as Abraxas had been more focused on preparing Laurentius as heir. Druella loved her younger son above all else, and it was clear to the family that while Laurentius was the favorite of Abraxas, Narcissus was the favorite of Druella.
@knights-0f-walpurgis these are my Druella x Abraxas fan-children ocs
Random facts about Enjorlas Corneille Roiser? Something along the lines of his hobbies, friendships, personality, appearance…?
He was really extroverted, the kind of guy that just knows everybody for some reason. His sons, more on the introverted side, both hated going out with him to do anything because they couldn't take a step outside the house without Enjolras finding a friend of his and talking with them for 10 minutes lol. He was particularly close with both of Gadea's brothers, Douglas and Nolan, and their wives, Iseut and Celeste.
He loved music, and since he was young played the violin. He was excellent on it, even to the point of playing a couple of times with an orchestra when someone couldn't make it in time. Gadea, his wife, loved to hear him play and asked for it a lot, she said it relaxed her. He also had a giant garden on his mansion that he kept in perfect conditions, and planted a lot of important ingredients for certain complicated potions for his wife, who was a potionist.
About his appearance, Enjorlas looked pretty similar to his father. He had a strong curved nose, light brown eyes and bushy eyebrows, but had his mother's fuller lips and prominent cheekbones. His skin was kinda pale and marked with a lot of moles, specially on his legs. He was on the shorter side, around 167cm/5'4'', but his long legs made him look taller. He had black hair, unlike his siblings' blonde one, and was really straight.
Enjolras was significantly more progressive than his siblings in a lot of ways. He didn't really like muggles but didn't believe they should be eradicated (a position his brother would defend until his last breath). He defended women's right to inherit even when he only had sons and it could mean the inheritance could go to Dahlia (Amias' daughter), but at the end she refused to get it (she didn't want the money to fall in her husband's hands). He knew his older son, Evan, was gay and supported him completely, knowing it was complicated to be homosexual on the social circles they were in, and also knew he had a short relationship with Barty Crouch Jr. before dying.
Can you tell me more about the dynamic between Druella and her siblings? What was their relationship with each other like?
As I said on the original post, she wasn't not really close with Amias because he resents her for not being as pressured into perfection as he was. She thought he undermines the pressure she experienced just because it wasn't dedicated to becoming the heir. When Druella moved to England with Cygnus, they stopped talking altogether and only sent each other letters to announce their daughter's birth. They ended up being kinda forced by their daughters to see each other more because Dahlia and Narcissa were really close.
Druella was a little closer with Enjolras, who also lived in England after getting married. They both liked music so most of the times they saw each other they ended up playing something together (Druella playing the piano, Enjolras playing the violin). They used to talk more about more mundane stuff that with their older brother, like the opera they went to see and their children's milestones. Druella's daughters and Enjolras sons were like siblings because of that.
Amias and Enjolras REALLY disliked each other. Amias thought his brother was irresponsible and too unserious to be a part of the family, that he doesn't deserved their good name. He secretly resented him for being the one that had sons, because he believed he didn't deserve to be the one who had the heirs to the family. Enjorlas thought his brother is full of himself and too entitled for no reason. He doesn't know about the resentment, but if he knew it would only contribute to his hate. He really liked his niece and thought she deserved a better father than Amias, one that doesn't think you're a deception because of her gender.
Rosier siblings
Amias Égide Rosier (1926-1992)
First child of Égide Roiser and Immilla Cornfoot. Raised as an heir, with pureblood ideals typical from the French elite.
He always had great expectations on him, being expected to be perfect at all moments. When his siblings were born he resented them for not having the same expectations on them as he had.
He had an arranged marriage with Pétronille Tremblay, the oldest daughter of an important politician. They only had a daughter together, Dahlia, because of his reproductive problems.
He used his father-in-law's influence to have a politics career on the French Magic Ministry.
He married his daughter off to the son of an important member of the Selwyn family, Philip. He wasn't a good man, and him and Dahlia never had children because she moved homes only a month after marrying him.
Druella Véturie Black (née Rosier) (1933-1991)
Second child of Égide and Immilla. She was born a few years after his brother, but was desired. She too was raised with the pureblood ideals, but her mother wanted her to accommodate more with English standards.
She had a few suitors growing up, but her mother decided she was going to marry Cygnus Black III, the youngest son of Pollux and Irma Black. His mother and hers were friends most of their lives and wanted their children to make them into a family.
She had three daughters with him: Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa. She loved very much the three of them, but saw herself a lot on her youngest, Narcissa. When their daughters were teenagers, her husband got his lover, Varya Markova, pregnant. She never wanted to meet the child, so when Cygnus and their daughters went to see him in Russia (where his mother was from) she stayed home.
She herself arranged the marriages of her daughters with whom she considered worthy for them. Both Bellatrix and Narcissa were happy to oblige, but Andromeda wasn't. She was arranged to marry Xavier Beaufort since she was little, but she didn't like his attitude and ideals at all.
Druella herself burned Andromeda's face from the family tapestry.
Enjorlas Corneille Roiser (1934-2002)
Third child of Égide and Immilla, he was an unexpected child. He was born a little over a year after his sister, and their parents weren't expecting him at all.
He was raised by the same ideals his siblings were, but his parents weren't really involved on his upbringing. They would rather centering on Amias and Druella, who they thought were perfect to ensure their family's name after being ruined by Vinda's involvement with Grindlewald, who was Égide's aunt.
They married him off to Gadea Macmillan, who was a member of a really important English family. They ended up having two boys: Evan and Felix.
He only received recognition from his parents after the birth of his sons, because they ensured the continuation of their family. No one knew at the time, but Felix would be the last Rosier born, because he decided never to have children with his wife.
Corvus (III) was such a charmer in his youth.
And a spoiled brat.
He gets it from his father lol
i'm thinking about making a post about all the classmates of the golden trio, like their houses and that stuff. not really their lives because ngl most of them just have names and nothing more lol
Abraxas Malfoy was a cold man. He never showed emotions where anyone could see, only his most close friends and family saw it, and they could be counted with one hand. The person he was more open with was, obviously, his wife. Euryale Carrow, or Eura as he called her (because when they were little he didn't know how to pronounce it), was one of his closest friends since they were in diapers. Their parents saw it as an opportunity to marry them off to each other, but they didn't mind. If they were together, they couldn't be with a bad without having a say about it.
They fell in love during their teenage years, and dated even before their arranged marriage became official. They got married when Abraxas was 22 and Eura was 21, but waited some time to have a child. Both of them wanted to enjoy the freedom their financial situation gave them and they traveled across the world. Five years after their wedding, they had their first child, Lucius, who was the split image of his father. A few months after they had their second, Greece, in honor of where she was conceived. They ended up having an accident baby only a year later, Xenophilius, whom they loved anyway.
As they got older, they realized any of their children were as cold as their father. Lucius always seemed to prioritize his emotions on top of everything, especially his anger. Greece was more serious, but she was very caring and tried to make everyone feel like they mattered (maybe that's why she wasn't as radicalized as her brother). The most emotional was Xenophilius: something as simple as killing a flower by accident would make him incredibly sad.
They set Lucius up with Narcissa, the youngest daughter of Cygnus (III) and Druella Black, and an incredibly smart and powerful witch. Greece wanted to enjoy her independence, and they permitted it because they didn't need to make any more relations with more families, they already were very well related. When it came to Xenophilius, they weren't as pleased. When he expressed his desire of marrying a half blood woman, Pandora Lovegood, they were disappointed to say the least. They ended up disowning him because of it, to their immense sadness.
They loved their grandson, Draco, a lot and they showered him with gifts constantly. Abraxas died in March 1993 and Euryale in December 1994, with the immense love of both of their children.
Quintilla Nozéa Lestrange II
FC: Benedetta Porcaroli, cause damn she looked BEAUTIFUL in Il Gattopardo (2025).
A more exuberant, and perspicacious girl, Quintilla enjoyed all the luxuries she got as a Lestrange. Named after a distant, yet tragic relative of her father, Quintilla fortunately would not fall the same fate.
Being the younger half-sister of Marcellus Lestrange, she was nearly 20 years younger than him. Their father had taken a second wife, Nozéa from the Tremblay family, after Marcellus's mother, Bernadette died young. Already having an heir, he didn't see any need to have more children soon.
Thankfully, Marcellus would grow up, being close to his step-mother, and a reassuring mother figure. Surprisingly, Nozéa was very much an enabler of Marcellus's mischief, but always advising to keep it away from his father.
"Nozéa Lestrange couldn't have Quintilla as her mother, so Nozéa Tremblay would have Quintilla as her daughter."
I was partially inspired by @falling-aster's OC Anoux, hence I made her!
Agrippina Medullina Parkinson (née Selwyn) (1740 - 1830) was an English pure-blood witch who was a member of the House of Selwyn by birth and a member of the House of Parkinson by marriage.
She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1 September 1751 to June of 1758 and was sorted into Slytherin House, as was tradition. She was the only daughter and second child of Marcellus Selwyn II and Medullina Selwyn, the younger sister of Tibertinus Selwyn and the older sister of Faustinus Selwyn. She was the wife of Melanthius Parkinson, the mother of their three children, Eutychus Parkinson, Hellebora Parkinson and Phicarus Parkinson. She was the mother-in-law of Abellona Parkinson (née Black), and the paternal grandmother of Hyacinthus Parkinson, Dracaena Parkinson, and Melantha Parkinson. Through Hyacinthus, she is a direct paternal ancestor of Pansy Parkinson.
Hi! Your OC, Anoux Lestrange really inspired me to make a Lestrange OC of my own actually :)
Oh my god!!! I'm so glad to hear it. Will you post about her? If you do, tag me on it, I want to read it
So I had this headcanon that Hesper Gamp was secretly lesbian and that Sirius (II) had been asexual.
Man I love making connections between the lore of a family and real life history, that's why I'm a history major
Do you have any HCs about the Volant family? I'm currently having Volant family brainrot plus I wanted to know your HCs.
I have only a couple, sorry :(.
They weren't originally named "Volant". Before that there were the Voltients, who were very monarchical people. When the French Revolution began, a lot of its members changed their surname. Most of their family tree was deleted because of that, they didn't want to be tracked down by the revolutionaries. A few of the firsts to change their names were Salomé, her siblings and her dad. Her mom refused to change it because she was proud of her family's legacy (they weren't good people, trust me). No one knows who Salomé's paternal grandparents were, just that he and her mom were second cousins.
Salomé's youngest sister, Vega, was arranged to marry Eliphalet Nott to make relations with English families, seeing how the revolution could change how their family lived drastically. They didn't think about how the Notts were at that time, they didn't make strong enough relations with any family. Their children were who made them have actual political influence, since their daughter Sarah married a Potter and their youngest son Perseus not only became a member of the Ministry but married a Proctor, who were a really important family at the time.
Do you have a Lestrange tree?
I do! Tumblr doesn't let me upload the PDF and they are too many people to fit into a photo lol, but here you can see it (it's a link to drive, nothing weird)
