Hi im Gaty! (she/her)

This is an account dedicated to the study of algebralien culture and biology. I myself devoted myself to studying these interstellar integers (and variables and other mathematical symbols) and wanted to share my findings with others who might be interested!

I am also here with my assistant Two (they/them), and we are proud owners of the research group ∀RCC, or the Algebralien Research and Connections Collective! Two may take charge of certain questions, but for the most part it'll all be me!

Oh there we go! Hello everyone!

Its been a bit, huh! last post was in... what-- JULY?? Goodness I've really left you guys hanging-- Luckily I FINALLY found some time to actually do some stuff especially since-- well---

I got eliminated--

But hey! can't win em all right? Hopefully ill be able to be a bit more active now that I don't have to worry about the competition....

Buuuut I might be a little preoccupied with my er--- new situation... lemme just turn the camera around-

Ah my break's almost over but! I'll be in touch! As for Two, they'll be around as well, don't worry! They just have a lot of stuff to juggle now that the game's REALLY picked up.

Gonna work on some older Q's, do a little cleaning, then open the askbox! See you soon!

[with my college classes and a crippling inanimate insanity addiction slamming me in the face like a heavyweight boxer, needless to say ive been a bit... diiistracted?

But not just that, like my previous check in post ive been running into a lot of writing problems with how TPOT has been progressing.... don't get me wrong, i LOVE it!! Buuuut it also made my life a little harder when it came to running the blog haha

Originally, the plan was this blog was going to take place after the competition ended, but with how wild the story has been getting, ive made the decision to run the blog alongside the story progression of TPOT. This means there will probably be way less funny ask events or like... actual story and roleplay, but this blog wasn't really meant to be something for rp despite how much I love writing stories...

(on my last biology post there was even supposed to be a whole storyline with Two becoming a little silly for a while, but sadly that will have to be put on the backburner for the time being)

Hopefully with this change itll be a little lighter on the conscience, but im still ironing lore out like the inclusion of the other numerals, but in the end this is still an AU, canonical things are subject to be bent and twisted to benefit how I have things set up here.

If you're still here and have been waiting all this time, thank you so much for hanging with me!! This project was never intended to be a huge commitment and I was hoping I wouldn't have as many huge breaks by keeping it lax, buuuuut here we are.

I'm currently on Christmas Break so I'll have a little more time to chip away at things. No guarantees on how consistent I'll be once my next semester starts, but regardless, thanks for enjoying my silly stuff!]

Can algebraliens get rabies

WHEW Sorry for the huge break everyone, but we are back!! ...more or less-- Let's jump right in!

[This post contains some horror and may trigger those with scopophobia!!]

The strange thing about algebralien immune systems, at least from what I've gathered, is that microorganisms don't seem to have the ability to survive within these guys, or rather... they don't really actively attack their systems? It's a bit like a germ resting on a rock rather than in someone's bloodstream... There just aren't any proteins that the germs recognize to try and react to!

...However, that does NOT mean that algebraliens do not get "sick"... they can indeed go into certain states given the right conditions, and the results are very erratic.

The one I know most about, and the one I'm sure you all have seen on the show, is of course the zombie outbreak.

This notorious infection is caused by a common gut microbe present in most objects that rapidly mutates and gets very erratic when stimulated with intense heat! ...Most of us don't eat superheated rock, and those of us that could, such as Firey, don't typically have this germ present in our bodies.

In a typical object, the microbe present when it enters our bloodstream, quickly replicates and attacks our nervous systems, weakening it and rendering us to a sluggish state and compelling us to attack and bite others...

But when exposed to an algebralien, something... different takes place...

Rather than a physical infection, there is a specific chemical created within the mutated germ that causes an imbalance within an algebralien's body, causing their system to "overclock", changing their behavior and causing them to rapidly lose control of their shapeshifting...

It was... um... an experience to encounter that out of nowhere to say the least--

This imbalance causes their behavior to become far more... "primal" i suppose? Algebraliens don't hunt like animals do, so rather they tend to retreat to what I can best describe as an "id" (in reference to Freud's theory of the mind). Two could only think about the closest things they had an instinct to do (which... was thankfully was something harmless like bringing us to the elimination area).

Two still feels... a bit guilty for scaring me despite not being able to control it, but I could never hold it against them...

...but hey at least something like that is WAY too unlikely to happen again right?

since algebraliens have paws, do they ever handle items with their mouths? Do they ever walk on all fours?

Well this situation is quite convenient for this question--

While algebraliens are known for their strange abilities, each one usually has one or more skills that they are more comfortable using than others, and will need to get into the habit of training if they wish to hone them... Thus, sometimes algebraliens that haven't practiced their ability to move objects with their mind may use their mouths as an extra way to carry or use tools.

Armless algebraliens seem to have the strongest capacity to learn psychokinetic abilities!

I haven't really-- figured out the whole "powers" thing yet with my time switching species, but maybe ill get the hang of it before we find out how to swap back--

As for the four legs bit, yeah I've seen a good number of us run on all fours if they need to get around quicker, but not all of us prefer it...
