“Love between a mother and child is precious, regardless of species.”
Be kind unto animals. Be kind unto life.
“A big problem with the vegan movement is that the majority of people have little or no contact with farm animals during their lifetime, so have little sympathy for them. People can’t seem to comprehend that they are intelligent, complex and emotional beings, and if they are socialised with humans, they can be incredibly friendly and affectionate towards us - the exact way household pets are.”
Every one of us has the power to create a kinder, more compassionate world. Go vegan.
Swimming with dolphins, whether with wild individuals or those in captivity, is increasing in popularity. Unfortunately, most participants in these activities are unaware of the problems surrounding them, and the negative impact on the animals involved.
Swimming with captive dolphins may seem like fun. But the harsh reality is kept hidden. Many people don’t realise that the animals are suffering an impoverished and often dramatically shortened existence in captivity and that many have been captured from the wild. These intelligent, social and wide-ranging animals are forced to live in artificial, confined conditions, away from their natural family groups. Many die very young, during capture, transport or in their tanks or enclosures.
Many facilities keep the dolphins in enclosures on the coast. Recent hurricanes have had serious consequences for dolphins in these sea pens. Some have been battered by falling debris, washed out to sea and even killed. Water quality can also be a problem. Sea pens close to shore may contain only very shallow water, which can get too hot in the sun. Those close to towns or resorts may also contain high pollution levels, bringing the risk of illness and even death.

Language is never fully trustworthy, but when it comes to eating animals, words are often used to mislead and camouflage as they are to communicate. Some words, like “veal”, help us forget what we are actually talking about. Some words, like “free-range”, can mislead those whose consciences require clarification. Some, like “happy”, mean the opposite of what they would seem. And some, like “natural”, mean absolutely nothing.

BALTIC SEA HARBOR PORPOISES: ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION
As few as 300 harbor porpoises remain in the Baltic Sea, an area between central and northern Europe.
Historically, they used to be quite abundant in the Baltic Sea. However, mass slaughters in the 19th and 20th century took a toll on the population. Up to 1,000 porpoises were taken each year in the Danish Straits in the in the 19th century during the migrations of the porpoises. That catch increased to 2,000 per year at the end of the century. The hunts declined throughout most of the 20th century until 1940 when they started back up again.
The biggest threat to these small cetaceans now is without a doubt net entanglement. Gillnets in particular are devastating when it comes to harbor porpoises; the thin meshy nets are undetectable to them, and they become entangled and drown. Juveniles are especially vulnerable to entanglement.
Currently, 7 Baltic Sea harbor porpoises per year die as bycatch in nets. 7 does not seem like a very large number, but this is considered unsustainable by the IUCN.
The population has dropped 60% over the past few years, most notably by Germany. One of the major problems is that fishermen are reluctant to switch to porpoise-friendly fishing gear; the alternative nets are not as effective at catching fish and have a lower yield.
Another issue is that the governments are not acting to save the porpoises. Unless the public is informed about this issue and shows that they care, nothing will be done.
Don’t let these porpoises become just a memory. Spread the word and let everyone know about these struggling creatures. Watch this video and share with your friends!

It’s heartening to see the public outcry over the senseless killing of Cecil the lion. He was a beautiful and regal being loved by many people, and the incident has raised the question among many thousands of people around the world, “Should it be OK to kill a lion for the purposes of ‘sport’ or entertainment?”
Right now there is a cow living in a crowded, dirty feedlot, who, in a matter of days will march in fear down a dark corridor. At the end of the line a man will shoot a captive bolt through his skull and into his brain, then hoist his young body by one back leg with a large chain, and slit his throat. He will dangle there, hopefully bleeding to death before workers begin to tear his body apart.
“Sure, it sounds horrible and sad,” some might say, “but that’s for food, not for entertainment!”
If we can eat tasty, healthy food that gives us all the nutrients we need to survive and doesn’t require killing an animal, but choose instead to kill and eat an animal because we enjoy the way his body tastes…aren’t we also killing in the name of entertainment?
Let Cecil inspire you to broaden your circle of compassion to include the animals hidden away on farms who are dying each and every day simply because we enjoy the flavor of their bodies.

people need to open their eyes and see that pitbulls aren’t blood thirsty killing machines but actually loveable animals that deserve the same respect any other dog would get. STOP BEING SO STUPID EVERYONE.
