I don't have anything against shipping in general, it's usually fine and doesn't really do anyone harm since the characters are mostly fictional so you cannot hurt something that isn't real.

Aside from obviously being against ships that are incest or pedophilia, there's something I'm also against.

Shipping real people.

It's genuinely inconsiderate and disrespectful to force a certain image upon two real life people and sexualise their friendship for your own fetish or other fantasies without considering how they'd feel about it, especially when the shipping is forced.

How'd you feel when someone shipped you and your best friend, made suggestive content about you two and obsessed over a non existent romantic relationship between you two without caring about your personal feelings?

It's not cute, it's very fucking creepy and disgusting, especially when those people are minors.

You can say two people would make a cute pair but full on pretending they're in a romantic relationship and make fanart plus fanfics is absolutely nuts to me, this can't possibly be normal.

Those are real people with feelings and a life, not some fictional characters for you to mess with.

Not sure if I have written my unpopular opinion about Viktor clearly here before , but it is a bit odd to me how Viktor from arcane is terminally ill and disabled and half the fanfics/fanon opinions of him are him being a submissive sub, feminized and/or having female genitalia .

Like it almost feels like people subconsciously associate being sick or disabled (aka sorry but being societally perceived as weak) as FEMALE TRAITS?

And basically we go > male character does anything to be perceived as weak (cries, is sick, is disabled, isn’t macho muscular) > weak=female > male character gets feminized is some way or form

Why why can’t Viktor be just be seen as a normal non feminized male, because he literally is? Are born males immune to being sick or having a disability??? I saw a post calling Viktor feminine and I dare anyone point out absolutely anything in canon about Viktor that is feminine, because to me he just seems like your average male. He just can’t get buff or get muscles because he is frigging disabled, a scientist so works indoors a lot and later is SICK. Ofc he won’t look completely healthy or macho male (like say Jayce or even Silco)

It just feels like there is some weird stereotyping and prejudice going around with these fics and with fandoms, like it isn’t intentional or out of ill will, but it’s there.

Ok one of my unpopular opinions is that I hate shipping everyone in literally any piece of media ever. Literally any two friends are shipped and it's made into a romantic thing.

News flash: romantic love is not the only kind of love. And yet, when two people show interest and love in each other as friends, people think "omg how cute ah I love them oh they're so for each other/so gay for each other" have you ever heard of Friendships??????????? I'm actually so tired of everything being romantic. Let people be friends. It's gotten to the point where you can't even have a best friend IRL either without getting shipped....

Same. I mean, enemies to lovers ships will always be a thing (I myself like a few) but when it's the most popular ship for those characters and fandom treats it as canon, then proceed to reduce to characters to just their ship, it does get annoying.

Even worse when they keep trying to gaslight you into thinking it's 100% canon and implied because of some completely arbitrary, probably not even there detail in frame 6765 at minute 6:45 of the Christmas special episode or something like that.

The thing about being weird and therefore having no friends is that people will blame it solely on you, claiming that "you don't make any efforts to socialize and are obviously not even interested in it" (even if it's not true and you do at least try to be sociable and friendly) meanwhile ignoring the fact you've spent you entire life being stared at, singled out, excluded, judged, mocked and pushed aside by your peers...

But when you inform them of said fact and the answer is that "you can't blame them, they treat you like that because you're weird and off-putting and anyone would do the same" as if you had any control over that
