I am face blind to a concerning extent. I don't know if that's the autism or if I'm just not paying enough attention. Like, sometimes I get confused when I look in the mirror because I don't recognize my own reflection.
This all sounds kind of depressing, typing it out, but I'm bringing this up because I was thinking about how I would definitely be the last person to figure out that Clark Kent is Superman. Obviously, I can see it because I already know what I'm looking for, but in-universe? Absolutely not.
My honest to God reaction to seeing Ultraman's face reveal in Superman (2025) was just straight up confusion. I understood that it was supposed to be a shocking moment, but I didn't understand why. My first thought was, "Who the fuck is this guy?"
I couldn't see the resemblance between Superman and his clone. Mr. Corenswet plays both Clark and Ultraman. I literally got to see both of their faces, one after the other, and I did not connect the dots until it was spelled out for me.
So yeah, the whole glasses and dorky demeanor might not fool you guys, but I've got 20/20 vision and I couldn't tell you if your baby looked like you.
I could be married to that man and I wouldn't know that he's Superman until he inevitably told me himself. Like:
Me: So's my dad. What country're you from?
Clark: Not that kind of alien.
Clark: . . . Well, technically, ye—
I genuinely don't remember where I was going with this, but I think you get my point.
