The Dragon Republic is a comedy actually
i recently reread the shatter me series (yes the entire thing) because I wanted to read the new installments in the universe and while I can suspend my disbelief for most of the outlandish plot elements the thing that really takes me out of it is the superhero suits π why are my kids running around in supersuits pls π why is juliette wearing a purple cat suit π
thinking about alabaster and syenite again.... i love you. i hate you. you are my only friend. i miss you. i never want to see you again. you are an inextricable part of my happiest memories. you have done the worst thing to me that could ever be done to another person. i understand why you did it. i'll never forgive you
Nezha :(
βWhen we say βthe world has ended,β itβs usually a lie, because the planet is just fine. But this is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. For the last time.β
β N.K. Jemisin, The Fifth Season
recommending the broken earth trilogy is always a strange experience because they ask what its about and, for their own good, you just have to lie through your teeth
one of my favorite series but it was jarring the first time I read it because it was recommended to me as a "unique high fantasy with queer rep" which...it is I suppose
One of the reasons I love Holly Black's books so much is that the fae are weird (as they are supposed to be!). Same with the emily wilde series by Heather Fawcett. More strange and disconcerting folk please ππ» Less cis het conventionally attractive liars pretty pretty please ππ»
I love attention seeking men. like, sure, go electrocute yourself because your roommate isnβt paying attention to you.
not using generative ai as a college student is the real-world equivalent of being strict mana in the scholomance universe
Physically mutilated former slave now in a relatively high but still precarious social position, in love with a man who is basically decent but fundamentally fails to comprehend them, unable to free themselves mentally from a view of the world that oppresses them and who thus ruins their own life and loses everything they value in relentless pursuit of a goal that ultimately proves meaningless to them.
I refer, of course, to Madam Zhang.
enemies to lovers is cool but have you considered enemies to platonic bdsm partners
the visceral fear that people will mistake the queer blond man in my WIP as a draco malfoy variant instead of the victor vale/laurent of vere variant that he actually is
I like cardan greenbriar because he actually contains the spirit of howl, unlike a lot of mmc's who are cheap imitations that lack the real essence of him
I wish there was a letterboxd for books. Like, the exact same format. Just for books.
thinking about how oscar wilde wrote "Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter" in the book that would later be used as evidence against him while he was on trial for "gross indecency" (homosexuality)
