Welcome to Jonestown
Day 1: roll in day
Today we got off to a slow start, mostly just going over rules and getting used to our work area. We packed up the vans at about 1030, and then took off for Jonestown. The minute we arrived, my entire outlook on this trip changed. Before I saw this town and the people that live here, I thought this mission trip was just "something to do" and "someplace to go" over spring break , and that involved helping people too. Now I truly see why I'm here. These people have so little-- I haven't ever seen anything like this. Tomorrow we start working on the houses. My house is house #19 in the habitat community, and I am beyond excited to help these people in any way that I can!

First Mission Trip!
Ever since I was a little girl, I've always been one to step out of my comfort zone. I'm always seeking adventure and I love learning new things and meeting new people. Over the years, I've traveled to many places with my family. But now I am moved out and beginning a new chapter in my life-college! If I've learned anything about life so far from being on my own, it's that you should cease every opportunity that you're given. One opportunity that I found was a mission trip over spring vacation. I didn't hesitate to sign up. After 3 months of fundraising and working for this trip, it's finally here! Tomorrow morning at 8 am we'll be loading up the vans and I'll be on my way to Jonestown, MI. This is the beginning of my own personal travel adventures, and I am beyond excited that it is also an adventure that involves helping others!
