Why Switching to a Vegetarian Diet is the Best Thing You can Do for the World
Eating meat contributes to climate change.
Lately, people are bitching about Donald Trump denying climate change. Everyone is so upset that this retarded President does not recognize such fact. But maybe, we should ask ourselves, what have we been doing to fight climate change?
Climate change is a fact. There’s no denying it. But there is another fact that we tend to ignore. The top contributor to the said problem is animal agriculture. That basically means that “eating meat” leads to climate change. Since there is a high demand for meat consumption, both factory and family farms raise billions of animals to meet these demands. I will not go into the details because clearly, I’m not an expert. But you can see where I am going with this. The more we eat meat, the demand for animal farming increases, thus more harmful substances are released to the environment.
So tell me, is your steak worth it?
The animal abuse done by factory farms is repulsive.
Did you know that factory farmed turkeys cannot naturally reproduce? All the turkeys on your Thanksgiving table are products of artificial insemination.
Did you know that male chickens are killed at birth at factory farms? There are apparently two kinds of chickens, the layers (which lay eggs) and the broilers (for meat). Only female chickens can be used as layers and broilers. Male ones are killed at birth since they serve no purpose. They cannot lay eggs or be used as broilers since their meat is not good enough for the market, where’s the profit in that?
Did you know that most animals are given antibiotics and other drugs, not because they are sick, but because their immune system is so fucked up that they cannot possibly survive without it? Almost all animals raised for food are genetically modified to meet the standards. Somewhere along the way, something went terribly wrong.
I know that fried chicken is so tasty, it is even my favorite. But are you willing to overlook the fact that these animals have been brought to life just to be abused and undergo unimaginable suffering, all for the sake of your craving for meat?
If you would like to know more about the horrors of factory farming and why it is best to go vegetarian, I recommend reading the book entitled “Eating Animals” written by Jonathan Safran Foer.
