Prolonged absence

Sorry for my lack of posts guys. I was pouting and feeling bad for myself. I recently bought a home in a rural area and satellite internet was the only thing available. 0.6 kbps download speed and 1000 ms ping isn’t very conducive to online gaming. Luckily, broadband was just extended to my area so I’m having it installed today. It won’t be setting any download speed records but hopefully 5 mbps is good enough to get back into it. Looking forward to seeing how halo wars 2 has improved since the first beta I played last June. Hopefully it’s a lot better or I will have to hunt some people down. See you guys out there.

I know we’re all very excited to play the long awaited return of Halo Wars 2, but remember that it is a Beta (a fairly early one at that) and we should do what we can to help out Creative Assembly and 343 Industries to make this game as great as it can be. Halo wars 2 first impressions

Disclaimer: I’m not a professional critic and I won’t really go into every tiny detail of the game (graphics, sound effects, etc.).

First off, I like that they didn’t vastly change the game. It seems to flow in a similar way and many of the core parts of the original halo wars I know and love are still there.

Now to the parts I don’t like. Excuse my french.

1. Where the FUCK is the cobra. By far my favorite vehicle in the entire halo universe.

2. The MAC. I shot one at a warthog and it took about half of its life away. That’s RIGHT. A MAC, the thing the navy mounts to it’s ships to destroy other ships doesn’t even kill a warthog in this game. This must be fixed.

3. ODSTs. You get one ODST unit and you have to wait as long as you would to recharge a MAC round for another one. Unacceptable.

Don’t get me wrong. I think they’re doing a good job but there are things I don’t like. I’m only ten games in.

I’m gold 5 rank by the way. Anyone do any better?

Halo Wars is finally on back-compat. Time to get hype for the sequel by playing the ever loving shit out of this, just like the old days.

A new list of backwards compatible games was released today. Halo Reach was on it so that is a victory but no Halo Wars. Really need my Halo Wars fix and they seem to be dragging their feet on it. Free Halo Wars!

High-tech systems are few and far between in the region of space surrounding my adopted home system of Umaitis, but despite its uninspiring name, LTT 15278 is worth a visit. The system hosts six beautiful ringed worlds, most with their own collection of satellite planets. (LTT 15278 3 shown above, along with a close-up from its icy B ring)

Zholobov Enterprise, the only station in the system, holds a commodities market that can supply you with items you might struggle to find elsewhere in this sector; they hold high stocks of agri-medicines and land enrichment systems; pilots wishing to gain favour with the Federal Navy (or simply wanting to spice things up in any contested systems) will find stocks of non-lethal weapons here too.

The ringed planets of LTT 15278 aren’t perfect for mining, but might be worth a try - all rings hold major reserves, and several of them are metal-rich. Zholobov Enterprise shows medium to high demand for most metals and minerals, so you won’t have far to fly to be able to sell your harvest.

One point to note: as well as the usual contraband, Zholobov Enterprise forbids the carrying of Wuthielo Ku Froth. Once I’ve determined what Wuthielo Ku Froth is, I’ll let you know.

Update: Well, I’d guessed that Wuthielo Ku Froth was either an audacious dessert or an unpleasant medical condition, but my sources suggest it’s a light alcoholic beverage made from fermented frog spawn filtered through rush mats. I don’t think I’ll be trying it.

Verdict: With a well-stocked outfitters and shipyard, LTT 15278 is a high tech oasis in this rather backwards sector. Their synthetic meat burgers are a bit stringy, though.
