Buying Friends || Mist & Gray
mistresstrupin:
Mist had been surprised by her description- ‘Not going to be into you’. She hadn’t signed up with it. It was almost kind of offensive. All things considered, however, it was ultimately pretty truthful. Mist didn’t sign up for some stranger to sweep her off her feet- although, she certainly wouldn’t be opposed to such a thing. No, in truth, she had signed up because the idea of being bid on sounded fun, and maybe she would get a free meal out of the deal. Oh, and she hoped her date would have fun too, she wasn’t selfish.
The man had agreed to come to her apartment, which- Maybe some people would be embarrassed to admit that they lived at the Shade Apartments. Mist wasn’t one of those people. Of course, hopefully, this Gray fellow wouldn’t be some sort of stalker. She wondered if she could trade apartments with anyone, if that was the case. She wasn’t sure her budget would allow her to move to the Ocarina apartments, either. Maybe she could find a roommate.
Mist was torn from her not-really-all-that-serious musing as she heard the knock at her door. She was wearing her normal clothes, but she had taken extra effort to make sure sure looked presentable. She had brushed her hair a bit more than normal, and had put on chapstick the last few days, and wore some light lip gloss to make sure her lips were aesthetically pleasing- not that she planned on using them for much other than talking and eating.
She opened the door, taking a look at the man. “Hello~” she greeted. “You must be… my prince charming!” she joked with a straight-faced smile.
The door opened revealing a woman with long, pale blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Gray was ready to compliment her appearance--that’s what you’re supposed to do, right?--but her comment made him falter.
“You’re--” he wasn’t sure if she was being serious. Goddess, he hoped not. He let a nervous and awkward chuckle, “Heh, funny.” He was beginning to doubt this whole thing. On paper it sounded like a good idea, but now he wasn’t all that sure.
It wasn’t until a moment later he remembered what he was originally going to tell her, “Um, you look nice.” Actually, he felt a bit too dressed up between the two of them. Maybe he should have stuck with his jeans.
“I thought we could start with the movie first,” Gray said. That way they could at least one thing in common and talk about during dinner after. At the very least.
