Ah yes, Fitzgerald- a man who doesn’t exist on these islands no longer-- but will throw imaginary currency at a bard to soothe is now broken heart. Walking up to this man, he greets him with blue roses. “Hello, Mister Mikhail. Good day to you.” It wasn’t. It was the WORST day ever. But admittedly, he was broken brokenhearted. Sure, it took a lot of convincing to make plans to visit the mainland in his busy schedule-- and he was going to finally confess. Only to find the most beautiful flower in his life to be swept away by another man.
“Do you think you could spare a dime of your time and play me a tune?” Fitzgerald said, choking back tears. “Thank you.”

thenervousnurse:
So he was returning soon. Was it okay to send him a letter? He did enclose the new address…but what if she sent the letter and then saw him soon after? They didn’t have any specific time to meet, but Arcadia wasn’t the largest island in the region. By Aquaticus, that would be rather embarrassing. Still, she took out a new piece of stationery and wrote out her reply.
Dear Klaus,
Leuda is very different compared to Arcadia. There are so many people there! I don’t know how people walk around every day. I’m embarrassed to admit I actually got lost on my first trip there. If I hadn’t run into a friend, I’m not sure what I would have done. Though I hope that visits will get easier with time. I’m sure there’s even more crowded places on the mainland!
Thank you for the kind words, Klaus. It is true I can use water magic…though I still have yet to utilize another one of my talents. I’m ashamed to admit that I can use summon arts, though I have yet to tame a spirit of my own. I’m admittedly a failure in that department…so sometimes I feel I am undeserving of such praise.
I have yet to finish The Great Gatsby, though I do find myself really liking Gatsby. He’s an interesting character to me, though he seems rather…sad at times in the way that he’s pursuing his love from long ago. The other characters I’m not so sure about, though I’m sure my opinion will change by the time I finish!
I have yet to read that book! I will have to give it a look once I’m finished with this one!
And I don’t think settling down has a expiration date at all. I believe the opportunity will come for you eventually. Thank you for believing the same for myself!
Sincerely,
Violet
Hmm. Klaus was filled with all smiles as he received his letter in the P.O. box. There were so many things he wanted to say, and even if he was already back in Arcadia-- might as well keep the train going. -- Dearest Violet, I am sure the more you get the chance to explore Leuda, things will surely become easier over time. I do hope your friend has helped you find your bearings around the area, and if they don’t have the chance-- is it alright to offer assistance too? Nonsense. Violet, you are deserving of praise. You can do summon arts? Incredible! The fact that you have such a gift is amazing within itself, even if you may not have a summon linked to yourself-- I certainly believe you shall be able to get one one day. How does that process work? Do you need to go through a trial of some sorts? Again, would it be strange to offer assistance? I’d be more than happy to help you. Believe it or not, there’s still a lot of fight left in these old bones. :) Oh Gatsby... My heart goes out to that man. I don’t want to say any spoilers, so please keep me updated whenever you do finish, dear. I shall see you soon. Yours Truly, Klaus
Letters || Violet & Klaus
thenervousnurse:
A bright smile bloomed on Violet’s face when she saw the letter in the mail. After Klaus’ sudden departure from the islands, they had been writing letters to each other on a fairly regular basis. While she was saddened that he wasn’t around anymore, she did enjoy writing letters to him. Honestly, writing letters was something that Violet enjoyed. She scarcely got to write them nowadays - everyone liked using phones - so this felt nice.
She read through the letter, smiling all the while. And as she finished reading the final words, she walked over to her small desk and fetched out a piece of stationery. Violet got out a pen and started to write her response.
Dear Klaus,
I’m happy to hear that everything’s starting to calm down on the mainland, and I hope that you have been taking good care of yourself through it all. I hope that now you’ll be able to breathe easier and relax, as you very well deserve. You always show so much kindness towards me and I’m sure you show the same towards your family, and I wish you nothing but the best as you move forward from this.
I’ve been doing the same as always, though going to the fireworks was a very nice change of pace for me. It’s been so long since I’ve seen fireworks and they were just as wonderful as I remembered them being. I’m very happy to have been invited, as I don’t think I would have gone on my own (Leuda is so big, I can barely tell one street from the other!).
Work has been the same as always, thankfully nothing serious has come through. I’ve actually been helping some of the doctors with their healing magic as of late. I’m not sure why they approached me for help, but I hope I’m helping them in a small way.
I’ve actually been reading The Great Gatsby recently as a recommendation from a friend, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Have you been reading anything recently? If you would like, maybe we can talk about them? That is, only if you want to.
And I don’t think that thinking about settling down is a bad thing or some sign of you age. I think it’s something everyone thinks about from time to time. I’m sure that if you ever want to settle down, it will come to you. You deserve at least that much. At least, that’s what I think!
Sincerely,
Violet
P.S. You have a surprise? Does that mean that you’re coming back? When?
It was always welcoming for the old man, to receive well thought out letters in such charming stationary. Klaus couldn’t help but to gently smile to himself mouthing her words whilst he sat on a bench under a willow tree. Violet’s kindness- warmed his heart. Sweet, tender, so considerate and kind- the nurse clearly meant more to him than he thought. He laughs softly to himself, Klaus didn’t think he deserved an ounce of kindness. But she didn’t know about that. With a pained smirk on his face, he returns in kind: Dearest Maid, Do not fret so much over one such as I. Honestly- everything is going dandy and should be returning back to normalcy. But thank you, truly. For your words always brings me comfort more than you could ever imagine. Leuda! I’ve been there a few times, I do agree it’s very different in comparison to the ways of Arcadia indeed. It is rather easy for one to get lost in the city, but I’m glad that your friend was able to escort such a lovely lady like you. Your friend sounds very amiable. I am elated to know that you had such a wonderful time seeing the fireworks, you deserve a pleasant time just as much. I do believe with all my heart that you are indeed, helping out your fellow doctors. Perhaps they reached out to you because they know how capable you are, seeing as you can do more with your hands than just to heal. You also have water magic, remember? That’s a feat within itself. But good to know you aren’t working yourself to death, nonetheless. Oh? The Great Gatsby? What a classic. That’s Scott Fitzgerald’s magnum opus. Whose your favorite character so far? Have you’ve finished it? How are you enjoying it so far? As for me, I haven’t been able to read as much as I’d like. Although I’ve been slowly reading The Gunslinger, by Steven King. It’s- rather dark, but I quite enjoy it. I do often miss our talks at cafes over books, so I look forward to do that again soon. Ahahaha! You think so? Sometimes I wonder if I am far too past my prime to even be thinking about settling down. It is nice to think about having a family (not to say that I don’t already have one.)--but I do get a bit flustered at the thought of it. I believe, you too deserve a life filled with love and happiness. As you, Violet- deserve it just as much. Yours Truly, The Jester. P.S. Why yes, by the time you receive this letter I should be arriving to Arcadia. I’ll disclose my P.O. box if you’d still like to return a letter. ;)

This old wolf sips a cup of coffee as he pulls out ornate stationary and writes a letter to a woman that has been on the back of his mind for some time. He felt a sense of guilt for having to leave back to the mainland on short notice, but the letters exchanged by the two were probably the highlight of his year. He didn’t even bother to tell her his birthday when it had happened. He’s getting too close to forty, the man didn’t want to think about his age. Dipping the pen into ink, Klaus writes: Maid Violet, How are you doing? I pray you are doing well. Once more, I’d like to say I’m proud of your achievements and I’m sure that you are doing your best to keep on going in your day to day life. I wonder how the fireworks went with your- He paused, taking a deep breath before he continued writing. -Friend. I hope, seeing those bursts of lights inspired you and brought you comfort under the starry skies. How’s work going? Are you having enough food to eat? Any books you’ve read lately? Anyways- I wanted to let you know that the situation back on the mainland has settled itself. My mother should be taken cared of and in a safe environment, and hopefully my sister may be able to move forward in her life. I never talk much of my past, but whenever I think about you and your hard work ethic as a nurse, I can’t help but think about my sister. For she too, is a nurse herself. Don’t work yourself to death, Violet. I do wonder if the Fitzgeralds are ever meant to settle down one day. Hah. Why am I even thinking about that, must be another sign of me getting old. Well, I do have a surprise for you the next time we meet. Do your best to keep one foot forward and take care of yourself, things are going to be looking up for you, that’s for sure. Yours truly, The Jester
Klaus lowly chuckles to himself while folding the letter away, sending it to a woman whom meant more to him than he ever thought. But at the back of his mind, he questioned to himself about the friend she mentioned about. Hopefully, they won’t be going around breaking her heart.
He wasn’t so sure if he should go. But the idea of turning back time and possibly feeling young again was quite tempting. He wanted to get a look in the mirror-- and well, see if the rumors were true that there was a potion to become young again. Is that even possible? You’re nearly 40. Impossible. There’s no way that---
Oh. He wasn’t much shorter, but Klaus knew he definitely looked different. His eyes rapidly blinked, his body felt nimble- vigorous-- what? There were no more crow lines under his eyelids. “I....” He couldn’t believe it. His voice cracked. A ghost before his eyes. The teen tugs his collar. And yet, despite being ages upon ages younger once more-- Klaus still felt old as balls.

“As kind as ever my friend. Yes, I have been fairing well these days. I wish the same for you, Klaus.” He was honest. Klaus was far older than he, but Kiel respected the man. After all the older male was passionate about their work. Kiel himself did not know how to make these concoctions. It must require a great amount of skill. All kiel knew was magic and cooking. Hopefully that wasn’t a bad thing. At the warning he nodded confirming that he had heard the warning. It was able stated on the display, but most people didn’t really read carefully. Either way he began gather the amount of G needed to pay Klaus while they wrapped the sample. In all honestly Kiel wanted to test the sample, and perhaps use it one day. He was just itching to create experiments on the sample. “Thank you Klaus, and I hope the day bids you well.”
“No, thank you, truly.” It meant a lot to the man to have people be so kind to support him and wish him well in his endeavors. Hopefully the dandy would be able to find the time to spend around with this younger man more, as Kiel did seem to be someone of good company. “You as well! Take care now!” he waved at the blonde before he saw his way out.

“A-All of t-them?” Violet repeated slowly in complete disbelief, looking at him with wide eyes. She looked over at the bouquets, which she had two more left of. Why did he want so many? Maybe…it was for his perfume business? Well, she certainly was happy to assist with that…but there were surely better quality flowers to use in his craft! She was only doing this as a hobby!
“U-Um…b-both of them w-would be 1,200G…i-is t-that okay?” Violet hesitantly looked at him as if she was asking too much money for it.
“But of course. They look extravagant. I am quite fond of them.” They weren’t his favorite however, and he never had the need of people ever purchasing them for the dandy... but they have their uses, and meanings, and look rather pretty to boot. “1200? That’s a pretty nice pricing point...although I feel like you could bump it up higher the next time around. I can tell...” his hands touched the blooms of the flowers. “You put a lot of love and care into this.” And with that, he hands her the money from his wallet. “Here you go, Miss Violet.” -1200 92595

Laney greeted Klaus with a gentle smile. They had a limited amount of interactions but they have been pleasant. He lived in Arcadia, didn’t he? Maybe she would visit him one day and they could be good friends.
“A cannoli? Good choice!” She wondered if he had a booth. Maybe she would go looking around after this.
“That will be 600G then. I trust things have been well with you?” She made a little small talk with the man while she prepared the treat for him.
Klaus hummed while he reached out for his money. Sometimes he wished he could had the chance to talk to her some more, but sometimes schedules never seemed to align in proper formation with the stars. Ah well. They got along at least. “I’m sure it will be nothing short but delicious!” And that was a fact! He heard a lot about her bakery from all over the place. (And sometimes...he ate from there while he was writing notes and thingamajigs for his perfume ideas.) As he handed her the money, he responded to her question. “Here you go! Ah yes, I’ve been doing rather well actually. I have a stall over around these parts as well. I’m surprised I sold out of my perfumes, really. How about you?”
Prove Yourself || Klaus & Maerwen
ladyshadowland:
Once he took the flowers - blessedly not touching her when he did so - Maerwen crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him.
It was difficult to glare when a man looked that incredibly pleased by something she’d given him.
She faltered for a moment, glancing down at the ground, then steeled herself with a deep breath. Humans only smiled like that if they thought they could get the upper hand over her, and she knew it well. He was dressed too fine and spoke with too high manners to be someone who understood hard work, and she had the fullest confidence in that belief.
“I want you to make a perfume out of these.” She rubbed her arm as she spoke, then noted the nervous tic and dropped her hands to her side, curling them into fists. I don’t know if I believe that you made the others.
“Oh ho?” His head tilt slightly, watching the miss speak so forward to him with such spice. Looking at the flowers, he observes them carefully. Hydrangeas were known to elicit such a sweet scent for most, so this should prove rather easy. “I could conjure something lovely with these, if you’d want. Just give me a week or two before you can try some samples.” “Is this for a gift for someone....or perhaps you want something nice for yourself, Miss Maerwen?” A challenge maybe? It was rather cute of her to have such a statement, but it’s best to remain calm and composed not to make the woman feel uncomfortable. Gentleman are truly just wolves, you know.
Klaus’ Perfume Emporium
lovelycitrusperfume:
“I do hope that you continue to sell them in the future. I would love to see what else you can do.”
The idea of offering to supply them in her store came to mind, but she pushed it back. It could simply be that he made these exclusively for the festival and had no intentions of selling anymore, but she hoped that in the future, if he did continue, she could work with him. Not only did she think they would be popular, but she also wanted an excuse to get more for herself. Perhaps, she could then convince him to make her a citrus one just for her.
Simply by his words, even if he hadn’t stated it before, she could tell that this was something he loved to do. It was a contagious feeling that she felt could infect a person who didn’t feel the same passion for it as him. But lucky for him this time, she shared his sentiments, just more on the consumer than production side.
“I’ve grown to learn that a person can miss the true meaning of certain products if they only go by what they see or hear. Much like first impressions.”
“Freya. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Please excuse my rudeness for not introducing myself sooner.”
Her words warmed him. Inspired him to do better, really. “Thank you.” Gently, Klaus spoke. He meant that, as a little bit of reassurance here and there by the kindness of near strangers honestly meant the world to him.
“You sound like a person of fine tastes and understanding. I admire your traits already. People do tend to treat things by it’s cover, so looking beyond that...says a lot about your character.” The dandy was quick to speak his mind, especially after things he’s observed in full. Yes, this woman was indeed beautiful at the forefront- but she had a lot more to her than just a pretty face, obviously. “My name is Klaus Fitzgerald. It’s been a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” He even conjure her a little fancy bow. How quaint.

“I don’t think it’s at all strange. It’s wonderful to have something that you’re passionate about. It really shows in your work, too.”
She looked up at him and smiled. By the looks at how empty his booth was at this point, she could tell that she wasn’t the only one who thought so. More often than not, it was likely for a perfume seller to be overlooked due to the intense aroma coming from the bottles and then having multiple of different kinds mixing, it was enough to induce a headache. These, however, were different. A majority of them were based off of light, floral scents that made the mix of aromas more appealing and easier to handle at once.
“I like to think so.”
She laughed softly.
“Sometimes they can be just as expressive as words.”
“....Thank you.” Honestly, a lady’s words can be reassuring. Klaus couldn’t help but genuinely smile by the high compliment. “It’s my first time selling these to the general public, so I’m truly just floored by the experience. I only hope it doesn’t get to my head.” He chuckles softly, while establishing eye contact with the woman. She seems sweet like honey. “You aren’t wrong with that, I believe that perfumery and all things can be looked at as such an art. Everything is, really-- if one may put their mind to it. It’s just... some can notice it better with their eyes and ears-- instead of their noses.” While Klaus was speaking, he gestures by pointing out his eyes, and turning his head to listen with his ears, and then finally gently placing a finger on top of his nose. “Not saying you’re a wolf yourself miss, but if you should think that scents are just expressive as words that are spoken upon my lips or dipped in pen- then really you must indeed have a gift with the keen sense of smell along with other things.” He was talking a mile a minute, but this woman really hit a chord with the gentleman. “May I ask your for your name, miss?”

“U-Um…h-hello…!” Violet timidly greeted with a shy smile, sitting nervously behind her table at the bazaar. Strewn about the table were various flowers, all considerably under-priced. While Violet had worked hard to grow these flowers, she was by no means a professional. She did all of this for her own enjoyment, after all! That’s all she needed out of them! It didn’t seem right for her to sell them any higher than she had them.
“U-Um…i-is t-there anything you l-like…?”

“Good afternoon, Miss Violet.” It took him a while, but he finally made his way over to meet her at her booth. It seemed as if she has been doing good with sales, but the dandy still felt inclined to support her. Especially for someone as sweet and lovely such as she. His eyes noticed the Lilacs, and decided to purchase the rest of them. They would look nice in his home, and as they dried out...he could easily make use of them in perfume. “How much are these? I’d like to buy them all.” If I could, I’d buy the rest of the stand myself. He had a bit of a gentle smile, as he generally found himself having around her presence. Lilacs had plenty of meanings, and Klaus was versed in the language of flowers - and knew what this meant. Of course, he already had a first love in the past long forgotten. But, his mind couldn’t help but to wander to think if Miss Violet ever had one. Well, perhaps...perhaps not. Goddess only knows it wasn’t his business to know- but still...the old wolf couldn’t help but be curious.

✧ “Oooh, an emotion?” This deal just got better… hopefully. He’s already a rather emotional guy, so who knows what could happen? This is just another opportunity for even more excitement at the celebration!
✧ Vishnal digs out the requested amount, making sure to count it before handing it to the man. “I’ll have a bag, please and thank you!” He doesn’t want to risk dropping his purchase and wasting the money (then again, he’d still have supported one of the booth owners, so it wouldn’t be that big of a loss). Once he has the perfume, he steps away and gets a bit on his wrists, rubbing them together and sniffing.
✧ And when he looks up, he blushes. Was it alright to do that right here? In front of this man? This man who… wow, has a facial structure that hits all the aesthetic appeals. “Uh– Th-thank you, sir. And have a wonderful face– I mean day!”
