Imo Xiang Fei stays chubby naturally, until he becomes a peak lord, and he gets pretty thin through most of cannon because literally all he has the time to eat is light snacks + he’s constantly under horrible stress. Post cannon and once Mobei Jun learns that Qinghua is most susceptible to food and leisure as romantic gestures, he’s finally able to start putting weight back on. Mobei Jun absolutely relishes it, since being fat is an attractive status symbol to northern demons especially (means you’re good at surviving up there). Everyone in the northern court looks on in jealous awe as the already highly effective and lethal queen only becomes more desirable. Shang Qinghua is like northern demon Helen of Troy.

MXTX characters & ships as things on my beach vacation:

Shi Qingxuan: the sign at the beach bar that said: "A tan makes you look better naked. So does a cocktail. Your choice!"

He Xuan: a guy floating on a large flamingo shaped inflatable with a bag of chips in one hand

Feng Xin and Mu Qing: two guys came to the beach and immediately and efficiently dug a deep hole in the sand, jumped in and began to argue whilst drinking beer.

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian: a woman was complaining to her partner that she was hungry and he went to the beach bar and got every single snack they had for sale, plus two fancy looking cocktails and a seashell necklace.

Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe: a guy caught a bunch of still living snails in their shells and offered to pluck them out so his partner could collect the shells and make herself bracelets - much to the woman's horror, who insisted he put them back.

Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu: a guy collecting seagull feathers for his partner who got so annoyed doing it that he yelled to his partner that he might as well hunt a whole seagull

Lan Xichen: very sunburnt lady who, upon being applied sunscreen to help, said that "the sunburn is the least of my suffering right now".

Lan Wangji and Lan Sizhui: father showing his son different species of seashells on the shore and having to comfort his crying upon answering why the seashells had no living creature inside anymore

Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling: son was building a sandcastle and proudly asked his father to take a photo of it, to which father said "do you really want to remember this?"

Lan Qiren: man reading Sun Tzu while occasionally sipping from a flask, wearing a pair of flamingo patterned shorts

Jiang Cheng: man who saw a jellyfish in the water, picked it up barehanded and chucked it as far as he could in the sea

Lan Jingyi: kid who caught a fish and asked if he can gut it and eat it now because he hated the hotel breakfast

Shen Jiu and Liu Qingge: couple argued loudly on the beach at 7 am while applying sunscreen on one another very carefully and sharing a kiss before continuining to argue

Wen Ning: guy laid on the shore with hands on his chest like a dead person and his son put a bunch of seaweed on his chest

Shi Qingxuan: woman who wanted to tan topless and upon her friend telling her there are kids around, she said "good, it will remind them of their childhood".

Shi Wudu and Pei Ming: lady sipping champagne from a crystal glass next to man drinking beer from a huge plastic cup he rinsed with seawater

Liu Mingyan: lady watching Heated Rivalry on full volume right next to me

Shen Jiu: lady whose kids were being rowdy and noisy and she lowered her sunglasses a bit and they immediately shut up

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian: man who kept carrying his partner bridal style in the water because the sand was too hot

In Shen-Twin fics, why is it always Shen Jiu protecting Shen Yuan? I mean, I love that dynamic. Absolutely adore it.

But also, I raise you Shen Yuan shielding his twin from any interaction that could trigger him.

Shen Yuan seeing how much Shen Jiu hates being touched, so he becomes the tactile twin who is just always there, throwing an arm around the shoulders of their martial siblings. Shen Yuan who notices his A-Jiu's patience is wearing thin and draws all the attention to himself. Shen Yuan who happily greets any visitors and takes them on a walk around their peak so that Shen Jiu can remain in the bamboo house undisturbed. Shen Yuan who is so dramatic that nobody sees the slight shake of Shen Jiu's hands after something reminded him of their past.

Give me Shen Yuan who uses his inner hater to innocently and eloquently dismantle the confidence of anyone who dared insult his A-Jiu. Without blinking or tarnishing his own reputation.

Give me Shen Jiu whose hackles smooth with a sigh as soon as he's alone with Shen Yuan, and Shen Yuan whose smile falls once he doesn't have to perform anymore.

Give me Shen Yuan pleading with Shen Jiu to tell people what has really been going on with him, to explain the trips into town or anything really. Give me Shen Jiu saying he's tired and doesn't want to talk about it, and Shen Yuan staying silent as he plots revenge on his twin's behalf.

Give me Shen Yuan being the twin nobody gets past, the one commonly acknowledged as "the hurdle to get through if you want to talk to his twin" and doing it in a way that nobody notices until they're already back in their own home.

Just, a dynamic where Shen Jiu is refusing to heal even a little bit and is just so tried and scared of interactions because of it, and Shen Yuan being the sword and shield that makes life bearable. Not because that's just who he is, but because that's what his brother needs.
