it was with UNDERSTANDING that she regarded him, nodding quietly as she listened to him speak. hands clasped in her lap tightened slightly, unconsciously, as familiar words were spoken, hitting her perhaps a bit harder than she’d anticipated. certainly, she’d expected some... similarities to her own experiences, just not quite such STRONG ones.
“ actually... yes. ” eyes fell to her lap briefly but, after a steadying breath to draw forward some courage, her gaze returned to the master. “ from BOTH SIDES, in fact. i was hidden away for much of my life because my parents believed that was what was best for me --- and for everyone else. i was taught to stifle my powers rather than embrace them. that... that led to me CONTINUING to keep myself removed from my sister, and HER from the world just as i, because i wanted to keep her safe... ”
trailing off, elsa lowered her eyes once more, her understanding smile now gone, replaced with a soft frown.
“ it made her life as miserable as mine. no real good came from ANY of it, even though it was all well intended. meant to protect. ” lips pursed, she shook her head and exhaled a soft sigh. “ i think... you have to be CAREFUL when you have so much effect over someone. there has to be a balance --- you should guide them, but there needs to be FREEDOM as well. i don’t wish to tell you how to do your job, it’s just... too much control over her may only result in worse problems than those you’re trying to avoid. ”
