Here's the fanart —
One Piece | Sanji | 3.6k | Masterlist
Thank you so much for including me in this! It was genuinely so much fun!
“Nami?” you called.
“Yes?”
“The smile on your face puts the sun to shame, or something along those lines,” you said. “And also, would you like something to drink?”
She tipped her head back against the lounger she was in and laughed. “I would love a drink,” she said. “Thank you. But if you’re going for true authenticity, should you really be using Nami? I think there should be another syllable there.”
You shook your head. “Not as long as I have my dignity.”
Sanji gave you an affronted look.
You smiled innocently at him. “I gave her the compliment. I just don’t think she needs that and the sing-songy voice.”
“No,” Nami said. “I don’t but it would be entertaining to hear you try.”
“No.”
Sanji crossed his arms as though to tell you that it wasn’t what he was protesting with his expression. You smiled innocently because although you had promised to be an accurate translator, you had your limits.
“You wanted to offer her a drink,” you said. “I gave her a compliment and did that. I went above and beyond to make sure it sounded like the offer genuinely came from your heart.”
He shook his head in disappointment, leaned over to press a kiss to your cheek regardless and tapped on Robin’s empty glass.
“No, thank you,” you said. “I have mine already.”

Ghost In The Machine (Ace x Reader) - Part 15
One Piece | Ace | 3.5k | Masterlist « ♥ previous ♥ next ♥ »
Bringing Ace temporarily through healed him far better than taking the injuries for yourself had.
You still hated it. It was crude and unpleasant, filling the room with the smell of blood and the wet, strangled sounds his body made when it remembered it needed air. But it worked. So you kept doing it, because every fresh patch of skin meant one less thing that could kill him when you finally pulled him through for good.
Your fingers cramped around the edge of the metal table, the cold biting into your joints while Marco’s fire burned blue against your closed eyelids. You leaned harder, shoulders shaking, and focused on the crackle of flames instead of Ace’s rough breathing. It was only for a few seconds.
The barrier recoiled and snapped back into place. Your knee bumped against the table leg and you allowed yourself to breathe again.
“Alright, yoi?” Marco asked.

Hatred and ignorance
Pairing~ Sabo x fem!reader
Synopsis~ Sabo starts wearing an eye-patch one day. What could be the reason behind it?
Word count~ 2.4k
✧ Masterlist ✧ Prev ✧ Dividers from @diviniyae
You're in your quarters with a heavy heart full of sadness from the previous conversation. The scene from earlier replays in your mind like a movie— his voice, his tone, his expression. It makes you feel more upset on what had taken place. If only you could understand what you have done wrong, you could have made up for it at least.
The scene had done nothing to dull the ache in your heart; it only heightened the agony. Taking in a shaky breath, you ponder over what could have gone wrong and how can you make it up to him.
Maybe he was upset about the last mission you both went to? But you are not really sure if that's the case. Did he got frustrated from you? Again, you did not know, you could only contemplate and wonder about the real cause.
You're tranced in your thoughts when a knock to your room brings you out of it.
You force your body up till the door, opening it slightly. The figure of Koala comes into view from the gap, you exhale shakily. For a moment, you thought it was Sabo, no, you hoped it was him.
You let Koala in, both of you settle down on the mattress of your bed. Her soft smile is directed towards you.
A sigh leaves you.
You shake your head in no answering the question in her mind before she even words it out.
“What?! Did he not say anything?”, Koala squeals in shock.
You fidget with your fingers as you consider your words, “I mean— uhm, it went differently than you planned it.”
Your gaze flickers to your lap as you speak; narrating what happened to her in detail. Koala listens intently.
“This means he still cares, right?”, Koala figures thoughtfully, her arms crossed and her head tilted to the side as she thinks.
You smile weakly at her.
“Maybe, but it wouldn't matter if he doesn't talk to me about what made him upset. I would rather he talks about that eye-patch with someone.”
Koala pats your shoulder gently, “You’re worried for him, aren't you?”
You nod.
.
.
It is end of the month, again. The day most of the commanders spar off to see whose gotten stronger and what rank do they align on now. It takes place between 25th to 30th of every month to analyze the growth. One date is decided upon in advance and then it takes place. For this month, it is today. It isn't much, just spar without weapons, devil fruit powers; only raw strength and Haki.
The commanders available spar and those who are not get the turn next month.
It was supposed to be fun. With Sabo and Koala, you enjoyed this a lot.
More like a competitive spirit between you three to see who got better. However, that was far from real now, it feels like a distant dream now. Sabo isn't talking to you. He has been sitting in a corner in silence since the start of the sparring, only rising from his spot when it's his turn to spar.
He stays glued to that spot for the entire time, he doesn't even let Koala stay for long with him. It makes you upset, you couldn't focus on your matches like this.
It's not fun. It's not how it's supposed to be. Maybe, you don't deserve to be with him but you, definitely, want to be with him.
A sigh leaves you.
Koala comes up to sit next to you, “Are you okay?”, she asks gently.
You nod, “Mhm”, lying through your teeth as if Sabo's silent treatment isn't fazing you at the current moment however, it's eating you away from inside.
The next man in the ring is Sabo, your gaze follows him as he makes his way to the ground fixing his leather-clammed gloves. The black eye-patch marries out on his face like a sore. His hair shines golden, amplifying the black leather eye-patch beneath them— covering the entirety of his scar.
Does it have to do with his scar? Is he insecure? Did someone say anything to him? You wonder.
You scan his features more prominently, dark circle beneath his visible eye, slouched shoulders, the metallic glint in his gaze, the stiffness of his muscles.
That's like a different man now, not the Sabo you knew.
The realization fills you up with the feeling of anguish, the cheerful demeanor of his was gone like it never existed to begin with.
“Sabo, are you not going to take off the patch?”, his opponent asks taking his stance in front of him.
To which Sabo just shakes his head, it wasn't common for people to fight with the line of their sight cut short. Apparently, Sabo was the uncommon man.
The spar starts off quite normally, but anyone could see that Sabo had the upper hand even with one of his eye closed shut. His movements are fluid, smooth, calculated and powerful.
He dodges each blow with grace and attacks back with an equally graceful move. You always loved watching him move on the grounds, he always looks so graceful and eloquent. And even, he does.
Beautiful, as always. A small smile forms on your lips.
The spar goes on normally, until in between the attacks, Sabo’s eye-patch comes undone and falls on the ground. Sabo looks down at the place where it lands but he doesn't get the time to retrieve it as he jumps back to dodge a kick.
That's when his moves become stiff, hesitant, and rough on the edges. Maybe not everyone could tell the difference, but you could. The smile from your face fades away as concern takes place instead. Since you have been seeing him fight for so long, you can tell when he is being hesitant and when he is being fearless. And right now, he looks hesitant.
Is it because his eye-patch came undone? You question to yourself.
Soon, the spar comes to an end and Sabo is declared as the winner. However, he avoids talking with anyone after it and goes back to his quarters.
“Sabo, there's still matches left”, Dragon— the man who founded the revolutionary army speaks in a low voice.
Sabo halts in his position, his gloved fists clenched tightly at his sides, he stares at the ground avoiding even Dragon’s gaze.
“I forfeit”, he announces and leaves immediately after.
Dragon calls out to him, “Sabo!”, but he doesn't heed to the call. The man sighs, rubbing his temple with worry etched on his face. It causes the other people to whisper away between themselves.
“Y/n, can you go check on him? And let me know what's wrong”, the man asks you for the favor knowing your closeness with the blonde.
You blink for a moment, “Me?”, you ask for confirmation.
Dragon nods, “Yes, is something wrong?”
You shake your head, “No, I will”
You sigh, it was a public knowledge at this point that Sabo has been weird lately but him avoiding you wasn't one. Because Sabo just didn't talk to anyone unless absolutely necessary which was weird in itself, again.
You grab the eye-patch from where it has fallen and make your way to Sabo’s quarters with heavy and slow steps unsure of how to go by it.
Your heart thumps loudly in your chest as you inch closer to his quarters, the eye-patch in your hand, and your heart heavy with nervousness.
You swallow, your throat going dry upon imagining how he would react.
You stop in front of the wooden door to his room, you take in a deep breath before bringing up your nervous fist to knock. However, you withdrawn your fist unable to knock on his door.
You inhale,
And exhale deeply.
The task is nerve-raking. I'll just ask Koala to do it instead, you settle upon the idea.
You finalize the idea in your head before turning to leave, but you hear the door creak open from behind you.
You swallow. Sabo didn't utter a word for a few seconds, the silence stretched on for a moment.
“Did you want something?”, Sabo’s apathetic voice reaches your ears.
Your heart jumps at the sound of it. He sounds so indifferent and detached, devoid of the cheerfulness he usually carried, devoid of the playfulness that always rested in his voice.
You slowly turn back, clutching the eye-patch in your hand tighter.
Your gaze meets his, for the first time in last few days you're seeing him without the eye-patch. Both of his eyes visible, the stormy grey glint present in them, but his gaze remains cold. They don't soften upon seeing you nor do they gleam like they used to.
You can clearly see the droopiness, and dark circles on his eyes.
“Dragon-san asked me to check on you”, you reply softly putting up a smile as much as you could.
His gaze grows colder, glinting at you with a doubtful look, “Did he really ask you or are you just here to—”
“No, he really did!”, you cut him off mid-sentence which you regret immediately because you wanted to hear what he was going to say after it.
His gaze drops on the eye-patch in your hand, “You left like that so he is worried. Is something wrong?”, you ask noticing his gaze flickers to your hand.
You bring it forward towards him, “And here, you forgot it so..”
His gaze widens before he finally accepts it from you, “Tell him nothing is wrong. I just feel sick and will be fine after I rest”, he replies; a message to relay to Dragon.
You could nothing is wrong with his health at the very least, he moves to close the door however, you grab the edge before he can do so.
“Wait”, you call-out in the heat of the moment.
Sabo hasn't talked to you for over a week and half now. Your heart thumps loudly in your chest, cold sweat forming on your forehead.
“I- do you need anything? Like, do you want to head to the doc—”, you fumble in the heat of the moment.
Shit. I fumbled.
None of the words and questions you wanted to say come up to your throat, nor can you even remember them now that you're standing in front of him.
“No, it's fine”, he replies, his gaze travels down to where your hand remains planted on the wooden door.
You exhale deeply considering your words before speakig again.
“Sabo, did I up—”, upset you?
The words remain unsaid as his gaze darkens and he cuts you off with a cold tone, “I need to rest, y/n”
Your heart sinks deeper, he doesn't want to talk. The realization hits down on you, you take another shaky breath in.
“Just a few minutes, I won't—”, take long.
Again, the words remain unsaid as he cuts you off one more time.
“Can’t it be another time?”, his voice is slightly shaky when he speaks and his gaze remains hidden beneath the locks of his blonde hair.
Now that you see he isn't wearing his top-hat, his coat and vest are not on either and his hair look slightly disheveled as if he has been running his hand through them.
You bite down on your lower lip, you really want to solve it between him and you. But he seems too amendment on avoiding you. You know for sure, that, if not today, if not now, then it won't be in any time in future he will allow you to talk to him.. which is weird because last time, you checked, he did spend hours sitting beside you, talking to you, discussing things, writing reports together, having silly fun spars with you.
Right now, it's just silence between you and him. It hurts more because it's silence, it's not anger, hatred or coldness, it's ignorance which keeps stabbing your heart.
The silence stretches between you and me as neither of you make an attempt to break the ice.
“…”
“..”
When you finally decide to speak,
“You won't speak to me another time. There won't be no another time, will it?”
Your gaze fixes on your shoes to avoid meeting his, you're sure he is probably doing the same as always.
It's not like you want to avoid it, you can't look at him with teary eyes. The tears have prickled at the corner of your eyes and you know they threaten to spill anytime soon.
Your throat is being squeezed in an unbearable pain which matches the anguish of your heart right now.
“I will, so—”
“You won't! You run away whenever I try to approach you. You pretend like I don't even exist. You keep..”
You lift your teary gaze to meet his, you're met with a cold and indifferent gaze which pierces through your heart.
He has looked at you like that before.
The gaze he sets down on nobles.
The gaze he sets down on the government.
The gaze he sets down on the celestial dragons.
That very gaze is set down on you at the moment, it sends a shiver down your spine causing you to let go of the wooden door you had been holding onto, “Keep avoid—”, also causing you to pause mid-sentence.
“I won't do it next time. So, see you. I need to rest”, he declares before closing the door.
You reach out to grab the edge again but you're too late. It's already closed.
A deep sigh leaves you as tears you had holding back finally get to roll down.
“D-do you hate me n-now, S-sabo? Do I—”, frustrate you that much?, you stammer and fumble mid-sentence leaving it unsaid not caring whether he heard you or not.
That became the last time you got to see him before he left for a solo mission next day. And you were sure he hates you now.
The reminder of the gaze he set on you still makes you shiver and uncomfortable.
Does he hate you as much as he hates the celestial dragons? The thought itself makes you feel hopeless, and you didn't know what— which actions of yours—brewed such hatred for you in his heart.
You had only seen him glare like that when he sees celestial dragons, nobles or government people.
People whom he absolutely despises with no chance at shift in his attitude. Seeing that same glare on you was nerve-raking due to which you couldn't even talk to him anymore.
However, if Sabo has given you his word that he would talk to you later on, then he should. He never goes back on his words, as far as you remember. You just have to wait until he comes back.

A/n~ i initially had it planned out differently than this. But i ended up changing the course of the plot. It was supposed to be a sparring match between him and her. Rather than him and someone else but then I changed it to someone else. Also, I think this series would have like 2-3 parts more. But I'll take my time writing this.
⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ring ring ring pick up the phone !
⠀⠀ how would the batboys react to you calling them once and immediately hanging up
— fem!reader, fluff & swearing, 0.4k words each (approx.), established relationships, husband!bruce, boyfriend! dick, jason, tim and damian (separately)
bruce wayne
you were at home having a you day, he knew that. so much so that he made everyone leave you alone that night and him himself, kept busy at wayne enterprises.
so imagine to his surprise his dear wife calling him out of nowhere and immediately hanging up?
bruce prides himself on answering your calls on the second ring at most. yet you didnt give him a chance for the first ring to come… somethings up. and his first thought is to call you until you answer.
you dont. you let your phone ring on the couch as you giggle at it. dick had told you to do this prank on him since hes seen it on tiktok. you thought it was cruel at first, bruce has always a lot on his plate and is too extreme, what if he thought something happened with his beloved wife?
my hubby🖤: [5 missed calls]
my hubby🖤: my love are you alright?
my hubby🖤: im on my way home, be there in ten.
he comes in the manor like lighting, calling out your name immediately. you can hear him already calling someone up since the house was too quiet for his liking.
then he hears a giggle from the kitchen that makes him lower his phone. you emerge from the open space to the foyer where you laugh at him, coming to give him an embrace.
“brucie dont worry im alright” you mumble with a smile. he looks down at you, his grip white on his phone. he looks relieved, thats for sure, but he was shaken up. his black hair was tussled, like he was running his fingers through it in stress.
he gently cups your face, “darling…” his fingers slightly shaking as he lets his phone slip in his pocket. “why’d you scare me like that? i thought something serious happened to you” he says in one breath, dropping down his forehead with yours.
your laugh vibrates agaisnt his chest, coming to grab his hand in yours. “im so sorry… dick told me to test it out with you”. your soft hands come to rub against the slight stubble on his sharp jaw, smoothing out the wrinkles under his blue eyes. “let me draw you a nice warm bath yeah? ive stressed you too much for my own liking”.
his shoulders drop with a small smile on his face, nodding and pressing a kiss to your forehead “id love that”.
dick grayson
you were at a much needed girls night at your friends apartment. it was hard with schedules and the curve balls life throws at you all but here you guys are.
dick was excited for you to finally have a night off with your best friends, ever the supportive boyfriend. he told you to call him if any emergencies happen and to text him when you wanted to go home
and poor dickie didnt knew one of your girl friends had a prank in store for him. she had saw this trend on tiktok and wanted to see which boyfriend of the group would reply first
you laughed at it, saying it wasnt a good idea (as you open up your dear boyfriends contact and set it flat on the table as your other taken friends do)
after a hushed countdown, you press the call button and all hang up at the same time. you looked at your phone screen with dicks profile picture that you had for him, a photo of him smiling next to haley.
not even a beat after, your phone lights up again with a call and nonstop messages from your boyfriend.
your girls look at you shocked. their boyfriends didnt even leave a message while yours is blowing up your device. you give them a sheepish look as you grab your phone off the table and answer the second call he made, pressing your phone against your ear.
“baby? did something happen? are you guys in danger?” he spat out the second you called him back. you laugh much to his dismay and you bet he’s furrowing his eyebrows right now.
“no dick im sorry, me and the girls decided to do a trend on our boyfriends to see who called back first” you reply holding back your laughter. he groaned on the line which made you hold it a little less
“sweetheart dont do that to me, didnt i tell you to call me for emergencies?” dick whined on the line and you had to cover the bottom speaker with your hand so your girls would hear
“i hope i didnt scare you too much, i love you so much okay? i wont do it again”. you mumble to him with your warm voice, you swear you can hear him smile over the call
“i love you so much more, text me when your ready to go home”.
jason todd
jason has been through a lot, to say the least. hes constantly on edge, trying to keep himself and the ones he loves alive, that included you, his girlfriend.
you knew it was dangerous for you to play this prank on him, his responses to things are like a militaries, precise and fast.
so to your surprise, the second you hung up you hear silence. no call back, no message, nothing. its too quiet for your liking, its so… out of your boyfriend. you’d at least expect a call back or…
buzz. the sound of your doorbell rang, snapping out of your thoughts. it was late at night, late enough you know its not safe to be walking in the streets of gotham so.. who the hell was it.
you make slow steps to the door, reaching on your toes to check thru the peepy hole. a sigh leaves your mouth and the weight on your shoulders drops as you unlock your apartment door.
jason is there, holding his helmet in one hand as the other held the doorway. he was puffing and his neck trickled with sweat. he looks at you and drops everything. the loud of his helmet dropping is loud enough that definitely woke up some neighbors.
he grabs your face, checking for any sign of harm or blood before exhaling on your face and pulling you into a kiss. you sigh into it before pulling away with your hands on his chest, sweat sticking to the cotton makes you wonder if he ran up the stairs instead of the elevator.
“did you speed to get here? youre sweating and heaving like crazy” you murmur, rubbing your thumb on his cheek.
“maybe, you called me outta nowhere and hung up too quickly, scared me shitless babydoll…” he murmurs on your face, wrapping his arms around you, inhaling your scent that made him feel grounded.
safe to say that night you were cuddled by a very clingy jason todd.
tim drake
nights with your boyfriend at patrol were boring, especially when youre at the manoe. he insists you wait there until he gets back so he can sleep in your arms but.. what to do in this big but quiet place?
having seen the trend before made you wonder how tim would react to it, you think for a bit, maybe doing it while he is at patrol isnt the best idea but… dating a vigilante isnt either right?
after the first ring you hang up. you cant contain your excitement, giggling to yourself as you watch your phone for any type of response.
and it comes, a few messages but it… stops? you tilt your head confused before grabbing to see what had he sent.
love <33: love?
love <33: did you call by accident?
love<33: anything happened? let me know please
you scoff, audibly so. he seemed so… calm? what if you were in trouble? what if you were kidnapped? you were fuming and highly offended, pressing the call button with such force.
the second he picks up, you were already raising your voice “tim what if i were dying and that youd think it was an accident?”.
then a laugh cuts though the line, it makes you stop. why is he laughing? what could possibly funny in this?
“my love you do know i have access to all the cameras in the manor.. right?” tims voice finally dies down from the laugh but you can hear his teasing tone loud and clear
your face flushes, covering your face with your free hand. he keeps talking on the line, asking why youre so quiet but you cant help but feel ashamed… of course trying to prank your techy boyfriend would never work.
“i will be burying myself tonight, thank you” you mumble which makes him laugh even harder and you swear you want to hang up in his face.
“okay right, i love you too freak, see you soon” tim says with a light tone that makes you groan and hang up and you know he will tease you for life about this. lucky him that you love him too…
damian wayne
your boyfriend wasnt loud in any means, and that included protecting you.
of course you were his top priority, always being there for you. but that also meant that he sometimes took things too far… just like his father does.
so much so, that when you called and hung up, all you got was a call back and silence.
frankly you were worried for what might happen. maybe he didnt care? maybe he thought nothing of it in which would lead to another normal night.
but no… its never a normal night with a wayne. as you were about to call him back to see if everything was alright, your window crashes open.
you immediately duck down to see what the fuck broke your window or worse who broke your window…
as you peak your head up, you can listen to your boyfriends mumbling and the sound of heavy footsteps. ducking from out of the couch, you look at him shocked, because what did he just do??
“damian what the hell?” you sound out and his head whips to yours, his breath calms down and he looks… relieved?
he makes quick steps to you and flops on top of you, nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck while mumbling apologies to you.
“i thought you were in trouble and wanted to catch the bad guy unsuspected” he mumbles embarrassed while pressing small kisses on your neck and melting into you.
you just laugh and start to massage his hair. you can scold him tomorrow about jumping to conclusions and for breaking your window but for now, youre going to enjoy his affection.

mornings and scarves
Pairing: Damian wayne x reader Summary: Damian Wayne seeing you off to work Content: aged up damian wayne . fluff . one shot . occ damain
It was a cold Gotham morning. You could hear the wind making its way from the window you opened earlier to the sun catchers, making the little beads you wove yourself clink together, forming a soft, calming, almost melodic sound.
It was too early to hear the busy streets, but every now and then you would pick up the sound of cars honking out of habit as you got ready for work.
You smiled softly, drinking what's left of your tea while petting Cloudy. Cloudy was a stray cat you adopted a few months ago after finding it near a dumpster. Its fur resembled its name, a deep gray color with little spots of white that you were sure would fade when it got older.
After tossing the mug in the sink, you made your way to your room, carefully opening the door, trying not to wake Damian. His face was soft; his normally furrowed eyebrows relaxed, pressing against the pillow while breathing softly, chest rising rhythmically.
You paused a bit, admiring his relaxed form. He rarely overslept, and you weren't one to wake up your probably sleep-deprived boyfriend. You crept across the room and quickly dressed yourself before slipping out again, softly closing the door behind you.
You passed through the living room, heading towards the front door.
"Hmm, I don't think I'll need a jacket..." you muttered under your breath before grabbing the keys.
Hearing the door creak behind you, you thought nothing of it, assuming it's cloudy padding over towards you.
Glancing over your shoulder, you startled slightly, finding your boyfriend across the hallway, his hair tousled, eyes barely open as he made his way toward you.
You smiled warmly as he tugged you into an embrace, melting into his arms, and rested your face against his chest.
"Good morning, habibati," he whispered, voice laced with grogginess, "are you heading for work?"
You hummed, "It's still a bit early. I wanted to stop at the new cafe across the street to grab some coffee."
You pulled away softly before pressing a kiss on his nose. "i'll be off then."
He planted a firm yet gentle squeeze on your waist. Before reaching for the scarf and wrapping it around your neck, letting it land on your chest, then pulling your hair out, adjusting the strands so they could frame your face.
He took a step back, admiring his work, his eyes shining in a way that was only visible if you looked close enough.
"Perfect."
You raised an eyebrow, barely concealing your smile.
"You're staring," you chimed.
"Merely observing," he cut in.
"Observing what? My face?"
"My handiwork, obviously."
You looked down at the scarf before rolling your eyes
"Keep telling yourself that, boy wonder"
His lips twitched into a faint smile, opening the doorknob for you.
His hands found yours, giving you one last squeeze as you slipped out into the Gotham streets.
Luckily, you had a scarf and warm affection towards a certain someone, keeping you comfortable.

| ANYWHERE BUT WORK | SIR CROCODILE
summary: as both a former warlord and headliner of the cross guild, sir crocodile has appearances to keep up. despite that, he has one major soft spot - his wife. that's why during work hours, he has to pretend he barely knows you, lest he show you the affection he so desperately yearns to. pairing: crocodile / secretary! reader wc: 2.0k tags: f! reader, fluff, crocodile loves his wife, soft crocodile, i'll stand by that agenda forever why would he marry you if he hates you and neglects you, he pampers the shit out of you, mihawk comes thru for the clutch
"Good morning, sirs." You greeted your three bosses as they walked into work together towards the conference room, sitting at the desk just outside.
"Goooood morning!" Buggy chirped, flashing you a thumbs up. "Keep up the good work today!" Mihawk inclined his head slightly towards you, a silent show of respect for both your hard work - and, more likely - putting up with Buggy all the time.
"Meetings." Crocodile asked shortly, taking his cigar out of his mouth and hiding it behind his back as he caught your glare towards him.
"Certainly, sir." You said calmly, eyebrow twitching just the slightest bit. You'd told him to cut down on the smoking, especially indoors. "The three of you have your bi-monthly bounty hunter meeting today, so please be sure to have new bounties on Marines prepared by noon. Aside from that, standard operations."
"Thank you." Mihawk said, walking towards his office, likely to grab his documents per your instruction, as the meeting was just a few hours away.
"What should I do until the meeting?" Buggy blinked, pointing at himself.
"Prepare?" Crocodile's deep voice rumbled, as he scoffed in disbelief. "Do you need to be coddled every second of your day?"
"I was just checking if there was anything else I needed to do!" Buggy exclaimed, pointing at you. "Our cute little secretary has all the info I need!"
Crocodile crushed his cigar in his hand, still behind his back. The ashes fell to the floor. "Just get the papers."
A bead of sweat rolled down Buggy's face, collecting pale makeup as it reached his chin. "I sense I've done something wrong." He turned on his heel and fled into his office, locking it tightly.
Crocodile turned back to you, saying nothing. You flipped through your papers, checking through any calls that you might be expecting or need to make - likely for Crocodile himself, who was always on the lookout for new business partners.
The man began to reach into his coat pocket for a cigar, only to stop himself. He was still in front of your desk. You glanced at him for just a second, before opening the drawer of your desk and handing something to him.
"Your lunch, sir." You said, as he took it from you. "You forgot it at home again."
His jaw clenched, and he opened the container with his hand, peering inside. His favorite, grilled crocodile over rice. Some vegetables with teriyaki sauce, some fruit for dessert. A note stuck to the lid, saying "Do your best today!"
He tucked the lunch container into his inner pocket, and his hand flexed as if to reach for you. Your eyes shot to his, before sliding behind him. A warning.
Crocodile followed your gaze, sighing as he saw Mihawk's piercing eyes observing the two of you from his office window. He blinked once, before flicking his wrist to roll down the curtains, likely returning to his paperwork.
"Be careful, now." You said, jotting down notes for your call at two. "Best to follow the rules you set."
You held no grudge against your husband for the decision he made. It was likely best for you, too, if he pretended to only know you in a coworker capacity, lest people begin to think you didn't work for the position.
Plus, had he not set the rule for the two of you, it was likely that he'd be attached to you all day until you both went home together - and he'd be attached to you then, too.
"...Yes." He muttered, watching you work. He began walking away, but paused right as he reached his door, turning just the slightest bit. "Do your best today."
You smiled, stopping your notetaking to meet his eyes. The moment your eyes met, he looked away, as if he couldn't bear to see you any longer. "I'll see you after work, Sir."
Each day was just like that. Absolute torture. He wanted nothing more than to sit in the same room as you, have you tuck into his side for hours on end, reading newspapers in silence and discussing any new developments in the world.
A domestic life, like a normal husband and wife. His time in Alabasta with you was rather close to that, before that damned Straw Hat came along. But now, Straw Hat wasn't even the problem.
The Cross Guild was formidable, to say the least. All former warlords, all incredibly strong pirates, all (except, perhaps Buggy - though maybe Crocodile could be nice and give it him the credit) capable of toppling the power structure of the sea.
Yet, that wasn't the issue either. Power was not the issue. The issue was that his coworkers - your coworkers, were incredibly nosy. Buggy was much more perceptive than he let on, he had to know something was going on. Of course, then, he spent his free time teasing Crocodile purely for the sake of it, just to get a reaction out of him.
Mihawk never gave an indication that he knew anything. But he didn't have to, because both of you could always feel his eyes on you, observing every move, every gesture, the slightest touches.
So you both agreed to pretend not to know each other outside of a coworker capacity, for the sake of reputation and for the sake of work. You were the Cross Guild's formidable secretary, efficient, quick, and diligent. You didn't want that spoiled for you, nor did Crocodile want to appear soft.
But god, was it hell. When you had free time, you would run their errands. Bring Buggy news on Straw Hat and Shanks, bring Mihawk the newest books he wanted to read (and secretly, updates on Zoro and Perona), bringing Crocodile more cigars and the freshest newspapers.
Buggy would always try to keep you longer than needed, making idle chit-chat. You'd entertain it, because at the end of the day, you had three bosses and he was unfortunately one of them - plus, he was actually quite good company and very funny to listen to.
During times like this, you could always feel Crocodile's temper simmering behind his door.
Mihawk never caused problems like that. He would nod in appreciation, perhaps occasionally ask you for a wine catalogue, but he'd never pry, and you'd typically be on your way within a few minutes.
For some reason, visiting your husband was the most awkward. The two of you would broil in silence as you darted around the office, ensuring that everything was in order, sometimes handing him yet another meal if he was working late.
He'd do his best to make normal conversation like the two of you did at home, but he had immense difficulty doing so without eventually doting on you.
He'd always start missing you most around midday, because there was typically enough work in the morning that he could busy himself with paperwork and distract himself from his wife, who sat just outside his office working herself.
But at midday, it seemed like it was more than just four hours - more like four days, since you'd woken up just a bit before him, wrapping your arms around his waist and tucking your face into his chest, peppering kisses all over him before you went to get ready for work, going in a hour before he did.
Instead of lying in bed to catch an extra hour of sleep, he'd watch you get ready, smiling when you put your work outfit on, whether it be skirt or tights, pants or dress. If you allowed it, he'd comb through your hair gently as you did your morning skincare routine. If you had extra time before leaving, you'd help him slick back his hair, checking his hook for rust, and fluffing up his coat.
You'd both put your wedding rings on a discrete, thin chain around your necks, letting it hang like a necklace during work hours and still keeping it on you. It was likely easier to just leave the rings at home, but Crocodile would rather die than leave the strongest sign of your bond behind.
So you can imagine how tiresome it was for him to have to go into work and pretend the two of you had nothing.
"Your wife seems a bit upset." Mihawk said, face covered by a book and his outlandishly large hat. His body was leaned back deeply into his chair, the late night getting to him. Buggy had gone home for the night, but Mihawk and Crocodile were still in, having an actual job to do.
Crocodile stiffened in the chair across from Mihawk, eyes automatically sliding to your desk outside where you looked exhausted, arguing with someone on the Transponder Snail as you rubbed your temple with your free hand. You felt his gaze, smiling at him weakly, before turning your attention back to the snail.
Crocodile sighed. There was no point in lying to Mihawk - he wasn't the type to initiate conversation, especially not about a topic he wasn't sure he was knowledgeable about. It was a long time coming, him addressing your relationship.
"It's our anniversary." Crocodile responded, voice deep and exhausted as he flipped through the newest bounties he was going to put out, ensuring that the values were correct before they were released. "Neither of us would prefer to be working so late today, but it can't be helped. It isn't as if our so-called 'President' will be much help when it comes to proofreading."
Mihawk calmly closed his book, looking over to your desk. Of course, you noticed this too, shooting him a strained smile as you leaned back in your chair, face getting gradually more agitated with whoever was on the other end of the call. His eyes slid back to Crocodile, whose cigar was whittling away in his mouth, ashes uncharacteristically falling all over his lap as he rubbed at his eyes.
"Just this once." Mihawk said, reaching his hand out for Crocodile's papers. The man looked up inquisitively, puffing out a large cloud. "I'll cover your workload, just this once. Go home, and spend time with your wife."
"There's no need." Crocodile protested. In all fairness, there's nothing he'd like more than to go home now, but he'd never want to owe Mihawk a thing, nor would he want to seem less capable. It was bad enough that Mihawk knew of your relationship.
"Don't think of it as a favor." Mihawk sighed, standing up slightly to pluck the papers out of Crocodile's hand, before sitting back down and starting to read. "You and your wife stay after hours the most out of any of us. In a way, I'm paying you back - so leave the papers with me and go celebrate your anniversary."
Crocodile put out his cigar in the ashtray next to him, staring at Mihawk. The greatest swordsman in the world merely ignored him, eyes focused on the papers intensely, determined to do the job right. Plus, he had a point, and Crocodile knew it. It was you and him that stayed late the most often.
If there was one day you two could slack off, it should be this one.
Crocodile slung his coat over his shoulders, heading for the door before pausing, hand on the handle. "I appreciate this, Mihawk."
"Don't mention it." He shrugged, sipping his wine and yawning a bit. "Just ask your wife to bring me the newest wine catalogue tomorrow."
Crocodile nodded, swinging the door outwards and walking to your desk, gently taking the receiver out of your hands and hanging up the Transponder Snail.
Clank.
You blinked at him, eyes weary and inquisitive. Before you could ask, he slung his coat over your shoulders and helped you out of the chair, pushing it into the desk. Then he lifted you up, a warm hand holding your shoulders, cold hook carefully circled around your thigh as he walked out of the building.
"We're going home, love." He smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead. "Good work today."
You relaxed in his arms, practically melting. "Mihawk felt nice today, did he?"
He pressed another kiss to your cheek, making you laugh. "Certainly. Please bring him the newest wine catalogue tomorrow. Perhaps we should gift him something, too.
"I'll prepare the best we have."

☆Waking Up In His Arms Headcanons☆
-------------------------------------------------------
Characters involved -- Portgas D. Ace, Marco, Trafalgar D. Water Law, Killer, Mihawk and Crocodile,
X Gn! Reader,
-------------------------------------------------------
|| Current || Next || Part 3 ||
-------------------------------------------------------
Portgas D. Ace:
- Ace is always groggy to wake up in the mornings, as much as he knows he has responsibilities, maybe a few minutes won’t hurt too bad.
“Man, wish I could stay here all day”
- Ace very much pulls you close to his chest, savouring the moment, burying his face in your hair, before he feels one of your hairs tickle his nose and he ends up sneezing. It’s not the most assuring way to be woken up with the smell of fire and smoke, but, well, seems like Ace has sneezed and accidentally set his side of the duvet on fire when he turned his head.
- You decide to let Ace deal with it, he made it, this is his mess to fix and his problem now.
- Ace always cuddles you with his arm rested around your shoulders, your head rested against his chest. Ace always snores loudly, laying on his back and without fail, theres always a bit of drool that’s at the corner of his mouth when he sleeps.
- If he forgets to pull his hat off? It always covers half of his face when he’s asleep. Sometimes it slips off and lands on your head and Ace panics in the morning because he can’t feel it on his head. When he doesn’t forget to pull his hat off? It’s always rested on the nightstand, or it’s on the floor.
“Alright, up we get, we need to go y/n”
- He always just hoists you up over his shoulder to drag you out of bed. Though. Sometimes you have to drag Ace by the ankles out of bed because hes a stubborn bastard.
-------------------------------------------------------
Marco the Pheonix:
- Marco has gotten used to waking up early with his responsibility as both first mate and doctor. There’s always something happening on the Moby Dick that needs his attention, however, by some damn miracle, theres no urgent matter that needs to be tended to this morning. Marco has an early morning alarm clock that’s ingrained in him, however, that doesn’t stop him from holding you for a bit longer whilst he waist for you to wake up.
- Marco’s mythical zoan devil fruit always comes out a bit whilst he sleeps, another habit, there are times where he has fallen asleep and his phoenix tails rest by your legs, either curling around your ankles or just being a warm presence for you whilst you sleep.
- If you’re ever hurt or sick? Marco will pull you into his arms and let the phoenix flames curl around you, letting you bury your face in his chest is the flames are too bright for you whilst your trying to fall asleep.
“Too bright? Yeah, they always are, here, put your head on my chest, might block out the light a bit, yoi”
- Sometimes Marco’s phoenix wings come out when he’s asleep, they are actually very soft so you are not complaining when they rest across you. But, Marco always stretches in the morning, specifically his arms as he likes to crack his shoulders for some relief because of his devil fruit being out whilst he sleeps. In doing so? When he stretches his wings, they do have a habit of knocking his glasses off of the nightstand, so the doctor of the Whitebeard pirates does spend quite a few minutes of the morning trying to find where his glasses have gone.
-------------------------------------------------------
Trafalgar D. Water Law:
- Law sleeps in bouts, so he’s usually awake long before you are, either due to staying up for the entire night, or he just wakes up early. Law is usually reading when you are asleep, glasses resting on the end of his nose as he keeps his back against the headboard of his bed. He’s not the biggest cuddler, he’s a man that likes his own space, but that doesn’t mean he wont ever give affection. Affection with law is typically given when your alone, after all, the last time he openly started caring about someone? They were shot multiple times and killed.
- Sometimes when you wake up, you can feel Law’s thumb brushing over your knuckles and your hand or the back of your neck, if you can somehow convincingly pretend that you’re still asleep? You can even hear him quietly muttering about the muscles and nerves that belong to where he’s currently tracing.
- Law always sleeps on his back, usually he rests his hands over his chest, or his hand is usually rested next to yours whilst you sleep, sometimes your fingers are entwined together when he’s dead asleep. Maybe his grip tightens when you try and pull away.
“Morning, y/n-ya. Sleep well?”
- He’d mutter in that tired morning voice.
- Law would always ask, he always slept better when you were by his side, your very presence sometimes making the nights spent staring up at the ceiling better. Though, Law has found himself having to remind you that as much as you want to stay up with him until he falls asleep, sometimes he needs the quiet and its also unhealthy for you to be up for the majority of the night.
-------------------------------------------------------
Killer:
- Much like Marco, it would be very rare for you and Killer to get a peaceful morning, well, its pretty much never, but lets pretend by some miracle that this morning is one of those impossible chances you have a bit of peace.
- Killer keeps his mask on when he sleeps, he trusts you but there are boundaries that he has which you must respect, no matter how long you’ve known him. Killer hates the idea of revealing his face when he’s awake, to reveal it whilst asleep feels like something that he will never do.
- Killer always rests his arm over your waist, he sleeps on his side and keeps you close to his chest. Laying on his side is just more comfortable for Killer. Killer makes sure that his helmet is rested on the makeshift pillow so he doesn’t accidentally headbut you with the damn thing during the night, he has grown to find it comfortable, but it is still a hard material that can break skulls.
- Killer keeps his weapons by his bed constantly, his hand sometimes twitches near them whilst he’s asleep on instinct, the kid pirates have been attacked whilst they were sleeping before and since that moment, he always keeps his blades by his bed near the mattress slots. Besides, he can also throw them if the one quiet morning that he’s gotten is interrupted, he’d throw that blade at the door if it was anyone but Kid who had interrupted him.
"How long do we think we can get away with this?...I reckon another two minutes...Good target practice"
- His muffled voice comes through the mask.
- Killers’ breathing is always at a rhythmic pace, he’s learned how to control his breathing for decades, either as a form of meditation or because he just breathes like that.
-------------------------------------------------------
Dracule Mihawk:
- Mihawk is a night owl, but he understands the importance of sleep. Though at the Kuriguana island, it’s hard to tell when it is day and when it is night because of the eternal darkness that the island is in. It’s called gloomy island for a reason after all.
- Mihawk isn’t the cuddly type, he will hold your hand when you sleep, entwining your fingers before he lets his eyes shut.
- Mihawk is a book reader before bed, its become a good bit of gossip between the both of you to pick apart either the writing or some of the annoying characters that are put forward, you both make wagers of what’s going to happen in the chapter to see if its predictable and you both definitely have a bingo card.
- There’s a massive bookcase of old notes that were left behind by the previous owner of the castle along with great thick tomes of either badly written love stories or old lore of the island. You’ve both started to put parts of the history together about the ruins and the castle owners, and Mihawk does enjoy a good mystery.
“Good morning, the lupins should have flowered this morning, do you wish to go see them?”
- Mihawk’s voice is always quiet in the mornings, he isn’t a morning person, not at all, he prefers the night much more than the day. Sometimes he brings up breakfast in bed, other days sometimes you bring it up for him. You can both cook and therefore share the responsibilities. When he cooks? You wash up, when you cook? He washes up.
-------------------------------------------------------
Sir Crocodile:
- With the hot climate of Alabasta Kingdom at the Baroque works headquarters, feeling a cold gold hook around your stomach is very good, if not slightly threatening, maybe its a tool to help your heatstroke, or maybe its a threat of death if you leave the embrace before Crocodile lets you.
"Tch, you are able to stay on your own side of the bed, you do know that right? Rather than latching onto me like a damn barnacle".
- Hed scowl but he secretly likes it.
- If you are actually very cold during the desert nights? Crocodile will never admit it but he will quietly pull his cloak around you to make sure that you aren’t shivering, definitely because the movement of you shivering keeps him awake, not because he’s worried.
- Crocodile lets you rest on the side of his body that has a hook, he can’t really feel it due to the numbness so he doesn’t mind you resting there, anywhere else and he may turn away from you during the night because sleeping beside someone sometimes irritates him.
- It’s extremely rare for Crocodile to ever stay during the morning, usually you wake up with his side of the bed empty, especially when there has been a new development in the world, Crocodile is always preparing and trying to figure out the next move that he needs to take in order to achieve his goal.
- On the rare moments that Crocodile does stay? He always has a cigar lit in the morning, breathing out the smoke to the side.

AN: I was gonna add Law to this but I had no idea how it would play out?? Maybe if I find other characters with hats I’ll do a part two with him. Anyways, enjoy! I struggled trying to stay ic
LUFFY blinked awake from the nap he’d accidentally taken on you. He could still feel wood brushing against his leg. His cheek had been resting somewhere between your shoulder and neck. For a second, he stayed there, eyes half lidded, mind blissfully empty.
But it was hard not to notice something was missing.
He shot up so fast it nearly made you jump.
Both hands immediately flew to the top of his head, a little hesitant, nothing. Then his fingers patted around the ground insistently. Luffy’s expression crumpled into deep concentration as he crouched to look around the deck.
“Where’d it go..?” He huffed, face beginning to deepen into a frown.
You watched him for another few seconds before a laugh escaped. His head snapped toward the sound.
“Oh.” You reached up, fingers brushing the familiar straws resting on your head. “Sorry for borrowing your hat while you were asleep. It got kind of hot.”
You adjusted it absentmindedly, splinters poking your finger. “Was that okay? I can give it back now, my bad.”
Luffy looked at you.
And.. stayed looking.
His mind, usually so quick to jump from one thing to another, had simply taken a moment.
The straw hat sat just a little too big on you, casting a soft shadow over your eyes. A few strands of your hair had escaped beneath the brim. You’d put it on so casually, like it wasn’t the single most important thing he owned.
It should’ve made him nervous, or maybe a bit easier to take the hat back.
Naturally, he trusted his crew with his things, and this wasn’t the first time he’s seen one of them worn it.
So why did this feel different? His heartbeat gave one hard thump against his chest. He blinked, his mind lingering on a single idea.
You looked nice with his hat. The thought appeared so naturally that he didn’t question it.
Actually, really nice.
Weird.
He scratched the back of his neck, still staring. He didn’t really know how to explain it, not yet. It just made him feel happy.
“No.” The word escaped before he even realized he’d spoken.
You tilted your head. “What?”
He leaned closer without thinking, his grin returning with all the earnestness that made Luffy, well.. Luffy. It surprised you nonetheless.
“Keep it on.” His smile widened, pressed the hat against your head. “I like it!”
It was your turn to stare. “You like it?”
“Yeah!” He answered as if it were obvious, folding his arms subconsciously. “What’s wrong with that?”
“There…” You felt yourself grow hesitant from the way he stared at you. He’s never looked this interested in something that wasn’t food before, “..There isn’t anything wrong with it.”
“So you’ll keep on wearing it?”
A awkward laugh escaped you. “Sure, why not.” You shrugged your shoulders, easing slightly. “I’ll keep wearing it.”
Luffy’s grin somehow grew even wider. He plopped himself back beside you, close enough that your shoulders bumped.
It was the same position as earlier.
But it still wasn’t normal at all though.
Every time he glanced elsewhere, his attention wandered right back to you wearing his hat. His stomach fluttered strangely. He frowned at the feeling for all of three seconds before deciding it wasn’t bad.
He rested his chin in his palm, still smiling to himself. “You should wear it more.”
You raised an eyebrow, trying to get comfortable while the sea was calm. “But no one gets to wear it.” You stated bluntly.
“I know.” He leaned back into the wood. “But you can.”
As sweet as it was, you knew how much he loved the damn thing. He’d take it back by dinner time. So maybe this one time, you can enjoy the attention.
ACE wasn’t panicking.
..Okay, maybe just a little.
It wasn’t because he thought it’d been stolen. There were only so many places something could disappear to on the Moby Dick. Still, it was his hat. He’d grown so used to the weight of it, it felt strange without it now.
Crewmates didn’t even offer much help, besides Marco at least.
He pushed the door to the infirmary open, “Hey Deuce—” His sentence died on his tongue.
You were sitting beside Deuce, elbows resting on the table as the two of you looked over the same medical textbook. At least, that was what he’d noticed first.
The second thing was his hat perched comfortably atop your head. You glanced up as the door creaked open, grinning immediately when you spot Ace.
Ace’s mouth felt oddly dry. “Is..” His brain refused to cooperate. “..Is that my hat?”
You stood at an almost infuriatingly leisurely pace, brushing invisible wrinkles from your clothes before taking a few steps toward him.
The brim dipped slightly over your eyes.
It looked ridiculously good. His heart skipped a beat, though to be honest that was far from the first time you’ve done that to him.
You stopped just within arm’s reach. “Is that okay?” Your voice had gone quieter now, almost uncertain. “I only seen it on the floor, so..”
Ace stared, he’d seen people wear it before. Hell, he’s definitely dropped it more than he’d like when fighting.
His face suddenly felt warm. Ah, damn it, you were waiting for an answer.
Say something.
Anything.
“Are you kidding?” A laugh burst from him before he could stop it. “That’s so hot.”
You blinked, face immediately shocked from the bluntness.
Even Deuce looked up from his book.
Ace looked just as speechless as everyone else. Heat exploded across his cheeks. “I mean—” He rubbed the back of his neck, laughing awkwardly. “I meant—you just…” He gestured vaguely toward your face. “Nevermind.”
You covered your mouth, trying not to laugh for the sake of everyone.
“Shut up.” He huffed at the end. “If you’re gonna keep laughing, at least come here.” Without waiting for permission, his fingers found your cheek almost absentmindedly. He gave it a light pinch, grinning.
He didn’t have a single plan, if he was already himself, there wasn’t much left to lose. “There.”
“There what?”
“I got my revenge for you laughing.”
“You embarrassed yourself.”
“I know.”
“You could’ve just said I looked nice.”
“Hey! I.. I know.”
Your laughter spilled out this time, bright enough to make the corners of his own mouth lift despite himself.
He’d wanted to tease you. You’d been wearing his hat with that unmistakably sly expression, practically inviting him to stumble over himself.
His hand, still resting against your cheek, loosened without him realizing.
“Besides,” he said more quietly, “when you’ve got my hat..” He tugged the brim down just a little over your forehead. “I’ve got an excuse to come find you whenever I want to.”
You looked at him with an amused sort of fondness. “You did that anyway.”
He thought about it for a second, “…Guess I do.” There wasn’t really an argument against that.
“Then just take it back.” You said, grabbing the top of it.
He looked at the hat. “Nah.”
“No?”
“I think it looks better on you.” The words slipped out much more quietly than the first compliment.
God, the things you did to him.
A loud sigh came from across the room. “Can you two do this literally anywhere else?” When you both turned, you realize Deuce hadn’t moved from his chair. His face was deep in the medical textbook, trying his best to ignore you guys.
SABO had noticed his hat was missing long before he actually started looking for it.
Not because he was particularly attached to the object itself, he was— but because he’d developed the habit of absentmindedly reaching up to adjust it whenever he was thinking.
The moment his gloved fingers met nothing but blond hair for the fourth time, he finally sighed. “That’s weird.”
He retraced his steps through the halls, asking a few passing revolutionaries if they’d happened to see it.
Most hadn’t, and Koala looked especially innocent. That alone should’ve warned him for whatever he came across.
Eventually, he found you standing on one of the quieter balconies overlooking the sea, elbows resting against the railing. His top hat sat perfectly atop your head, you hadn’t noticed him yet.
For just a moment, Sabo forgot to move. The afternoon sun caught the edge of the goggles wrapped around the hat. It was.. unexpected? Yea. The hat had always been unmistakably his, seeing it on someone else should’ve looked odd.
Instead it looked strangely natural— his pulse stumbled once. How curious.
He’d always thought you were lovely, that wasn’t exactly groundbreaking information for him to start realizing.
But this was different.
Something about seeing you wearing something so distinctly his made the image linger in his mind far longer than it should have. It suited you, very well.
His lips curved before he even realized they had.
Ah. So that’s what everyone’s been smiling about.
You turned at the faint sound of his footsteps, the second your eyes met, a sly smile spread across your face.
“Hello.” Sabo folded his arms comfortably, “I was wondering where my hat had disappeared to.”
You reached up, pretending to feel the brim for the first time. “Oh?” A perfectly innocent blink. “Is this yours?”
He almost laughed. “It bears a striking resemblance.”
You tilted your head thoughtfully. “I suppose it does.”
He took a slow step closer. “You’ve stolen from the Chief of Staff.”
“I didn’t think you’d mind.”
“And what gave you that impression?”
Your smile only widened, leaning back into the railing. “You haven’t asked for it back.”
Bold.
He could respect that. It’s just unfortunate for you, you’d picked the wrong person to play this game with. His smile became just a little sharper, tilting his head.
“I haven’t?”
“No.”
“I wonder why.” He stopped directly in front of you now. Close enough that you had to tip your chin up ever so slightly to maintain eye contact. “But where would the fun be in that?”
For the first time, your confidence faltered.
He leaned forward just enough for the brim of the hat to lightly bump against his forehead.
“So.” His voice dropped into something softer. “Have you finished admiring my stuff?”
That caught you off guard. “I wasn’t admiring—”
“No?”
“I was borrowing it because it was hot.” You rolled your eyes, pushing him back with your palm. With the way he willingly let it happened, you could only guess his next move.
“And the weather became unbearable only after you found my hat?”
“Maybe.” You shrugged.
He hummed thoughtfully, eyes never leaving yours. “Okay.”
You blinked, eyes narrowing. He wasn’t particularly the guy to go on like this, you’d know. Or maybe you’re learning something new about Sabo. “..You’re fine with it?”
Quite frankly, you were hoping for more of an annoyed Sabo who was pish posh about a hat.
“Why not, the hat suits you.”
You opened your mouth, but it was too dry.
There wasn’t the slightest hesitation, he was so casual about it as if you’d naturally grow accustomed to the bluntness. Without warning, he leaned in again.
How unfair, he wasn’t even flustered. Meanwhile, your brain had completely been all absorbed with him. Satisfied with your speechlessness, Sabo lightly adjusted the brim for you.
“There.” He stepped back to admire his work. “Looks nice.”
“You…” You finally found your voice. “You aren’t even going to ask for it back?”
He smiled. “Eventually.” He clasped his hands behind his back, eyes sparkled with unmistakable amusement.
You narrowed your eyes. “I feel like I’m being manipulated.”
“You are.”
He admitted it so cheerfully that it robbed you of any comeback. “You could at least pretend to deny it.”
Damn, you were more irritated than him.
“But then I’d be lying.” His gloved hand rested lightly atop the hat one last time before he gave the brim a tiny, playful tap.
He hadn’t even needed to take the hat back. In fact, leaving it exactly where it was was far more rewarding.
After all, every time he caught sight of you wearing it, he’d get to watch that same expression bloom across your face all over again.
That was a victory worth savoring.

By the time you opened your eyes, Sanji had already turned the morning into a love letter.
Sunlight spilled through the porthole in a trembling band of gold, made restless by the sea, and somewhere beyond the walls of the Sunny a gull cried into the clean blue distance. Closer at hand were warmer things; the fragrance of coffee prepared precisely as you liked it, butter melting into bread still hot from the oven, the gentle sweetness of fruit cut into such delicate flowers that eating them seemed almost cruel. Sanji sat on the edge of the bed with the tray balanced across his knees, his shirtsleeves rolled above his forearms and his first cigarette of the day still unlit behind one ear, as though even smoke would be too coarse a thing to bring into the morning he had made for you.
“Happy birthday, my love,” he murmured, and bent to kiss the place where sleep still lingered at your temple.
DAMN, I'M HOOKED
There are four rules that come with falling for your best friend’s sister, on the contrary here’s four ways you can easily fail them.
𝓬haracters: Sanji, Koby, Law, Sabo.
༯ 2k+ wc each / bit suggestive / fem reader / confessions / first kiss / one shots.
AN: sanji isn’t rlly Zoro’s bsf but lie with me, thank you…!! Took me so long to finish this because all of my finals were this week, but it was nice to take my time with it.
rule number ONE, you can’t fall in love back. ⸝⸝.ᐟ⋆
“Who the hell is Mosshead even supposed to talk to?” Sanji muttered, balancing a tray of food in one hand as he wandered through the crowded streets of the island. Honestly, he was more concerned about whether the swordsman could find his way back to the ship than hold a conversation with anyone.
Luffy perked up from where he was sitting, legs dangling as he happily chewed on meat. “Probably his sister.”
Sanji nearly stumbled over his own shoe. His head snapped toward the captain so fast his neck hurt. “His what?”
“His sister,” Luffy repeated around another bite.
He was still grinning happily until a shadow fell over him. Nami scolded him as she grabbed dragged Luffy by the sleeve toward a nearby row of shops.
The two disappeared into the crowd before Sanji could ask another question. He stood there for a moment, blinking as he set down the plate of food.
Zoro had a sister? How in the hell had nobody mentioned that before?
Not that Sanji could complain too much. Everyone on the crew had things they kept to themselves. Still, that felt like very important information.
The thought lingered in the back of his mind as he and Chopper spent the next few hours gathering supplies. The reindeer focused on medical necessities while Sanji hunted down ingredients for the kitchen.
Everything was casual until he passed a sword shop. The rhythmic sound of steel being sharpened echoed through the open doorway. Sanji would’ve ignored it entirely if a flash of movement inside hadn’t caught his attention.
Then he saw you, a pretty woman behind the counter. There was no way he could ignore it despite Chopper’s protest.
His posture immediately straightened once he stepped in. A practiced smile slipped onto his face as naturally as breathing, one hand finding its way into his pocket. “Looks like this island’s got something worth admiring after all, hello beautiful—”
The line died halfway through. Not because you interrupted him, intentionally at least, all you did was laugh after all. But it was his heart that automatically began to ache in a way it hasn’t before when he listened.
It was a genuine one, directed at an older customer before you turned your attention toward him. The smile lingered on your face as you walked over.
For a second, Sanji completely forgot what he’d been saying.
“Welcome to the shop,” you said with a grin, head tilting slightly. “Looking for anything in particular?”
Before he could answer, you’d already grabbed a blade from the display rack and offered it to him. Sanji blinked when it was in his hand.
“Oh.. Uh.” His eyes drifted to your face again, a heat raising to his face. There was something familiar about you, uncomfortably familiar. He tried not to think about it.
“You okay?” you asked.
“I.. yes. Perfectly okay.” He nodded pathetically, trying to seem genuinely interested in the sharpness of the blade. “Your hands are talented, expected from a beautiful lady.”
You raised an eyebrow, it was obvious you didn’t believe him. “Right.” You murmured, the smile tugging at your lips made his chest do something deeply inconvenient. “But, thank you.”
For once, he wasn’t trying to think of another compliment. He was trying to think of literally anything to say at all.
“There you are!”
Sanji swears he let out an agonizing groan. The familiar shout nearly made him jump out of his skin. Zoro was marching down the street, waving an arm overhead despite being impossible to miss in the first place.
Your entire expression brightened, while his frowned sharply.
“Zoro!?”
“Stupid Marimo.”
You turned to face Sanji, he looked at you with an equal amount of shock. You managed to speak first, “You know my brother?”
Sanji didn’t have time to respond, but it didn’t take long to realize he did the second Zoro caught up, a mixture of friendly familiarity and also hatred. But the attention slowly went back to the new found sibling.
He watched the exchange you guys had in stunned silence. This wasn’t just some beautiful stranger he was genuinely drawn to, it was Zoro’s sister. And he didn’t feel as bad he should’ve about it.
The rest of the conversation became a blur. Sanji couldn’t focus on a single thing being said whenever you spoke. The only sentence that actually registered was the one that mattered. You were coming with them to Water 7.
And judging by the stupid grin he couldn’t get off his face, Sanji knew that was about to become the best voyage of his life.
—
The trip to Water 7 taught you a few things, one of them was that Sanji was confusing.
Zoro already sent you many warnings the second you came on board, a lot of it coming from spite. And like your brother, you began sharing a similar dislike for Sanji.
At first, you assumed he treated you the same way he treated every woman. You’d seen him around Nami and Robin often enough. The occasional collapse onto the deck whenever either woman acknowledged his existence.
It was ridiculous.. a little entertaining, but ridiculous.
So when he immediately volunteered to carry your bags, pulled out your chair at meals, and somehow appeared whenever you needed help with something, you brushed it off as part of the package.
That was just Sanji, it was annoyingly sweet.
You didn’t notice how he treated you differently, how he stayed longer because he wanted to listen, the gestures that weren’t coming from chivalry, but rather his need to be near you. He never made a big deal out of it either.
But it made you want to avoid him, desperately even. Sanji did not particularly care about your brother’s opinion, but you certainly did. And even a small part of you knew the cook could tell your actions were close to disdain.
Either he didn’t care about the fact you didn’t like him, or he couldn’t let you go.
The first time you noticed something was different happened entirely by accident. You’d wandered into the kitchen looking for a snack, Sanji was preparing lunch, sleeves rolled up and cigarette balanced between his lips.
For a moment, you almost considered walking out. It’s not like you assumed he wouldn’t be here, but you didn’t want to too cordial before you left. It would be hard leaving after making an attachment.
And maybe it was also because it was him.
“Need something?” he asked, glancing over with a soft smile.
You leaned against the doorway before deciding to just fully stepping inside. “Looking around.”
“Just be careful.” His hand immediately reached toward a shelf. “Wouldn’t want a lovely lady getting injured.”
You blinked, slowly letting out a humorless laugh. “Of what?”
“The knife rack.” He hummed, a little bit more silent than usual.
You followed his gaze, noticing the blade you’d given him at the shop rested neatly above his workstation. It was displayed within arm’s reach, the metal practically gleamed. It was your work in his kitchen.
Your stomach did a strange little flip, slowly walking closer with a hand on the edge of the counter. This was the longest you’ve been willingly near him already.
“You kept it.” You stated, you hoped you looked as calm as you imaged yourself to be right now.
Sanji looked confused at first, a bit baffled before breaking out into quiet laughter. “Of course I kept it.”
“As decoration?” You murmured, eyes narrowing.
“Absolutely not.” He sounded genuinely offended, sticking the cigarette onto a tray. Crossing the kitchen, he lifted the blade from its place. He was close to you, a finger almost touching yours. “It’s made by you.”
The knife spun effortlessly between his fingers before settling back into his palm. “And it’s reliable. I can’t possibly have something you’ve put hard work into as just a display.”
For a second, you couldn’t speak. Eyes flickering from his fingers to his face, almost reaching out before a noise outside brought you back.
“I’m glad you’re using it.” You said silently, a bit flustered from the declaration. “As well as taking care of it.”
Sanji glanced down at the blade before looking back at you. “You gave it to me.” He murmured, sharing a smile of warmth. “It deserves the same amount of love I have for you.”
The answer came so naturally that neither of you seemed prepared for it. Of course he’s said things similar, but this felt different. So different. For a moment the kitchen felt strangely quiet. Then Sanji cleared his throat and turned back toward the stove, offering to make you something.
For the first time, you accepted the offer.
You spent the rest of the day thinking about it, or rather him. You never expected to start growing a fondness for the cook.. which was an understatement with how much you’ve been staring at his hands.
He treasured a knife you’d handed him after knowing you for less than ten minutes, and it made you a sucker. It wasn’t a fast change, but definitely one that made him oddly breathtaking.
The look on his face whenever you smiled suggested he might’ve fallen first, and you fell second in that race.
Your own brother didn’t notice how quickly your opinion changed on Sanji until it was just you two on the boat. You guys made a clean stop at the island you desired, but stayed behind with Zoro as he kept watch.
Subtly hinting you weren’t as eager as you were before to leave.
Your fingers tapped against the wood next to his sleeping position. “The cook is cute.” You said suddenly, pushing yourself back with a knowing look. “I might’ve just fallen for him.”
Brown eyes stared back at you in pure disgust, a little bit of shock as well. “Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
He made a baffled noise, falling deeper into his sleeping position. “Just tell me if he does anything.” He grunted reluctantly, knowing nothing he could say would convince you.
rule number TWO, don’t get caught by the brother. ⸝⸝.ᐟ⋆
Koby wants to say he was drawn to you a lot quicker than he would like to admit. You were already grabbing his hand, biggest glint in your eyes just from the things you’ve heard about him. At the time, you’d just been a person he’d heard about through stories or complaints.
There was a pause before you let go of his hand after a casual shake. It only lasted a second, maybe less. But it was enough for him to realize you were still holding his hand. The thought hit him so suddenly that he nearly let go on instinct, but instead he slowly pulled back with fingers tracing yours.
“It’s.. it’s nice to meet you too.” He murmured, straightened himself immediately.
Suddenly you pointed at him so quickly you nearly lost your balance, the sudden enthusiasm caught him off guard. “Sorry, I just can’t believe I’m seeing you.” You said a bit sheepishly, “You’re much cuter in person.”
But before he could respond you were already getting hugged by your teary eyed brother, also known as his closest friend, Helmeppo.
Koby mentally buried his face in his hands, there’s rules about liking his bestfriends younger sister, right? There should be, because he feels extremely guilty about it right now.
And judging by the suspicious look Helmeppo was now giving him, Koby knew he was turning red. Fast. Very, very fast.
The following weeks were easier, at least in his definition. His responsibilities as a marine hadn't changed. His days were packed from sunrise to long after dark. By all accounts, he should have been far too busy to spend time thinking about a single person.
Of course, he wasn’t. That realization became even worse when he found out you would be joining the same ship for a few months.
You joined training exercises with his unit. Ate lunch with them. Somehow became part of the routine so naturally that Koby couldn’t remember when it started. If anything, he didn’t mind it. The problem was that every single time you talked or smiled at him, it felt catastrophically unfair.
Still, he plays it cool to his best ability. Koby doesn’t treat you any different, keeping up with the harmless things. Like inside jokes, lingering conversations, the stuff he could handle.
One evening after training, the two of you remained on deck long after everyone else had gone below. You sat beside the railing with your legs dangling over the edge while Koby leaned nearby. He warned you it was dangerous, but you were stubborn.
The conversation drifted from stories, then to embarrassing memories then, to absolutely nothing important at all. At one point you laughed so hard you nearly lost your balance.
Instinctively, Koby reached forward for you, his hand caught yours with a sense of urgency. His face frowned subtly, holding his breath while you stared back at him.
The movement happened so naturally neither of you reacted immediately. His fingers wrapped around yours, something he was too scared to do the first time. Yours tightened back. For a second, neither of you moved from the spot.
Koby could feel the warmth of your hand, could feel your pulse. Could feel his own heartbeat becoming dangerously loud.
Any sort of laughter faded, silence taking up audible noise. Restraint felt far more difficult than it ever had before. You both pulled away at exactly the same time.
The rest of the conversation was significantly more awkward, Neither of you mentioned it, or could even forget it
Koby certainly couldn’t.
The memory followed him for days afterward, replaying itself at the worst possible moments.
It only pushed him farther from you. He thought it was too complicated, that it was fair to put a good making of distance. You heavily thought otherwise.
Just months of feelings sitting quietly, two people who had finally run out of reasons to ignore them, built up to this moment.
“Koby.”
His throat felt dry, a little strained at the current moment. “Yeah?”
The tension got worse during training, and unfortunately for Koby, you loved close combat exercises during private practice. Meaning you were constantly within arm’s reach, always.. touching.
This afternoon you had him pinned against the ground, your legs straddled around his waist. He could feel his breath hitch at every movement, unnecessary heat building up. Everything felt way too tedious.
Your forearm pressed lightly against his shoulder as you held him down. “You gave up way too easily.”
Koby’s brain stopped functioning, thoughts tripping over each other as he tried to find something, anything, that sounded normal. The worst part wasn’t even the position, it was you, close enough that he could barely think straight.
“Y-You’ve gotten better…?” He stuttered, tried and failed to get up from your hold. And in an extremely quiet voice, mistaken for the shuffling. “You’re too close.”
You sadly didn’t hear that one.
“You’re a liar.” You leaned down, a cheeky grin forming before it slowly faltered. His expression softened at the shift, it took a few second for panic to settle.
You didn’t do well knowing a guy you thought had interest in you to start to distance himself. “Koby, have you been avoiding me?” You murmured, hesitant. “—Sorry, just.. I don’t want to assume.”
That hit very close to him.
Koby opened his mouth, then shut it again, words falling apart before they could form anything useful. What came out instead was a mess of half excuses and strained syllables, his gaze flickering away like he couldn’t quite hold yours anymore.
Your expression dropped into something a little like disappointed, and you eased off him, standing up. You were already turning toward the door, accepting it.
But before you could reach it, his hand shot out and caught yours again— firm this time, finally forcing himself to stay in the moment. When you turned back, he looked overwhelmed, flushed, but more certain than before. “Don’t go.” he said, voice cracking slightly before he forced it down.
He had an expression that showed multiple ways of saying please, something you didn’t know was possible. Koby swallowed hard before he began to confess everything, the truth, a real feeling he hasn’t been able to ignore.
For a second, everything went still. It wasn’t until he saw your subtle smile did he realize how easy this should’ve been. He closed the gap, pulling you into a tight almost clumsy hug. It was cute, really cute. His arms held on a little longer than necessary, tension finally breaking as he exhaled.
You laughed softly into his neck, your own arms crossing over his shoulder. His grip loosened just enough for him to tilt his head down, brushing a few shy, lingering kisses along your cheek and temple, still flustered.
The door creaked open.
You both froze instantly.
Standing there was Helmeppo, mid step, clearly looking for you— his sister, and now staring at the exact scene of you and Koby caught in a too intimate pause that neither of you had properly recovered from yet. Koby’s face went fully red, arms still half raised like he wasn’t sure whether to let go of you.
“Uh.. ahm.” he started, voice immediately betraying him, he could hear you let out a suppressed gasp.
Helmeppo blinked. Slowly, his gaze shifted from Koby to you, then back again, “Are you.. and my sister—?”
Koby took a sharp step back from you like he’d been burned. “It’s not what it looks like—”
Helmeppo cut him off immediately. “It looks like my sister is in your arms!”
…yea.
Helmeppo exhaled through his nose, expression flattening into something dangerously calm. And judging by the way you couldn’t even look at him, you havn’t told him anything.
Then instantly, that weird silence turned into his subtle whines. “Koby, how dare you not tell me first!”
“I’m sorry— wait what?”
rule number THREE, don’t give special treatment ⸝⸝.ᐟ⋆
Law’s first impression of you had been simple, a stray cat.
Not because you were troublesome, or particularly difficult to deal with. It was mostly because you appeared out of the north blue.
You were Penguin’s younger sibling, which wasn’t as surprising as it should’ve been. That was because he already met you once or twice as kids, it was inevitable. Now though, you were nineteen and standing directly in front of him, no longer that same twelve year old.
A few years passed quickly after that, you quickly eased into the group in that time. And somewhere during those years, Law became painfully aware of something that everyone else had figured out long before him.
You liked him.
You genuinely liked him, and it was embarrassing enough for you already.
He hoped it would fade. Especially crushes on people like him, you deserved that much. A chance to move on and find someone easier to love than him. The unfortunate part was that you seemed determined to do neither, or at least let him believe that you would.
Truthfully, he understood it more than he cared to admit. Penguin, by your own repeated admission, had been an absolute ass growing up. Law had lost count of the stories you had the chance to tell. To a younger version of you, seeing someone actually knock sense into your brother had probably seemed heroic.
It was funny to see, but still heroic.
Meanwhile, you had accepted your fate of love with surprising grace.
Law didn’t like you back. With how concrete he is with his emotions, it wasn’t hard to catch on. He didn’t say anything, so you assumed he was avoiding that uncomfortable conversation. It was hard sometimes, tedious. But it didn’t get in the way of being apart of the crew.
It’s not like you wanted something so unrequited, you just had to live with it, or better yet move on.
At least, that was what both of you believed until a month ago. Or rather what Law believed about himself on his feelings for you.
Law still hated thinking about it, mostly because it made absolutely no sense.
The crew had docked at a port town after two weeks under and on sea, the crew needed some land. Everyone scattered almost immediately, eager to enjoy solid ground for a change despite being used to the environment.
You had disappeared for less than an hour before returning soaked from head to toe, your hair still extremely damp.
Apparently the outfits became unbelievably stuffy for you. You had decided that after weeks inside a submarine, swimming sounded like the greatest idea imaginable, a little bit of freedom to change out of it.
Law hadn’t cared what you did as long as someone kept an eye on you, and thankfully Bepo had volunteered.
That should’ve been it.
What Law hadn’t anticipated was you marching directly toward him afterward. You were shivering hard enough that your teeth nearly clicked together, a little bit embarrassed yourself going up to your captain in a bathing suit and still wet.
Despite that, you still managed to smile. “Where are the towels at again?” You murmured, gaze avoiding his. “Bepo took mine.”
It was a simple question, completely harmless for you guys.
Yet somehow his mind went blank. For one horribly long second, all he could think about was how different you looked outside the usual white jumpsuit.
He felt like a total creep with how long it took him to grab you one.
After that day, things became inconvenient. Because suddenly he noticed everything, your laugh, the way your eyes lit up whenever someone praised you, when you absentmindedly leaned against nearby surfaces whenever you were tired.
But he could ignore that, he was good at letting it go.
The current situation still felt like torture though.
Medical training days were supposed to be straightforward, it was a good educational practice every month or so to maintain good nursing skills in case anything goes bad.
Unfortunately for him, it did not do as intended when you were currently leaning over him with a stethoscope.
“Move the diaphragm higher.” Law kept his voice level fairly firm, forcing his attention onto the lesson instead of your proximity. “It was better than the first attempt.”
You nodded immediately, following his advice, ompletely unaware of the effect you were having on him. The stethoscope shifted slightly against his thin shirt
Your brow furrowed as you concentrated, slowly relaxing when you heard the thumps better.
“It’s a lot louder.” You laughed softly, clearly fascinated by the sound.
Law nearly closed his eyes.
Because yes, it was loud, far louder than normal. Every beat seemed to echo inside his chest. He could practically feel the traitorous thing trying to expose him.
Still, you remained oblivious. If anything you made it worse by leaning closer. Trying to do exactly what he had taught you.
Your eyes widened. You instinctively pulled away far enough to look at him. “It’s getting a lot faster. Is that normal for you—?”
Before you could finish, Law caught your wrist and pushed the equipment slightly back. The contact startled both of you.
“Completely normal,” he answered immediately. It was a lie, a terrible lie. His pulse had never been less normal in his life.
Soon enough, Law realized his fingers were still wrapped around your wrist. He pulled his hand away back to his side, feeling an unfamiliar heat on his ears. And the cause still was too baffled to even realize it.
You blinked. “Alright, just don’t die.” You noticed the way his eyes narrowed at your tease. In that silence you tried cracking a smile, “My bad.”
He only made a grunting noise as a response.
You took the time to pull out the earpiece, placing the equipment on the medical tray.
“You did good.” The words slipped out before he could stop them, trying to fill the silence. “You get things down fast.”
Your entire face lit up, and suddenly the awkwardness was gone. “Really?”
“Yeah.”
The grin you gave him afterward nearly killed him. “So then I passed.” You cocked your head to the side.
“You want me to say it?” Law scoffed, but still amused by your determination. You didn’t falter, only nodding your head eagerly. “Alright then, you passed.”
You were pleased with the praise, but didn’t let that fact get to you. You appreciated his lessons and left without anything more than professionalism.
The door clicked shut, silence settled over the infirmary. And Law finally dropped his head into one hand. A month ago, he could have dismissed it.
Now all it took was a routine training exercise for his heart to betray him. All it took was you. And judging by the way his thoughts immediately followed you out the door, he was beginning to suspect this problem wasn’t going away anytime soon.
—
Law was still determined to stay in denial.
A year ago, he had made it clear that he didn’t return your feelings. At least that was what he told himself. Changing that now felt unfair to you. So whatever he was doing lately couldn’t possibly mean anything.
At least, that was how he chose to see it. The problem was that his actions rarely agreed with his fair reasoning.
He started to notice things about you. Every scrape, every bruise, every cut you came back with after a job. Half the time you weren’t even aware he’d spotted them before you did. The moment he saw an injury, you somehow found yourself dragged into the infirmary.
He always claimed it was because someone had to make sure it healed properly. The first treatment was reasonable, second was precautionary.. third was usually just an excuse.
You never questioned it, because Law was a doctor. Doctors fussed over injuries.
Unfortunately for him, that was only the beginning to his run of don’t make it obvious.
At some point, the crew started noticing how often he ended up paired with you. Somehow Law was always already going in the same direction of any place you guys walked.
If there was a task that required two people, he was there.
If you wandered too close to a ledge, missed your footing, or nearly walked into trouble, his hand was already on the back of your collar before anyone else could react.
Then came the familiar deadpan question. “Watch where you’re going.” Or sometimes just an irritated stare while he made sure you were steady again.
By normal standards, it wasn’t exactly sweet. By Law’s standards, it was kinda cute to see. The crew certainly thought so.
The crew somehow possessed restraint besides the few comments they’d throw. Had it not become unbearably awkward every single time the topic came up, they probably would have announced it over dinner every night just for entertainment.
But for you two, it was easy to act like it was nothing. If anything you just thought he was getting used to your presence since the awkward tension that came from you liking him
At least until you got sick.
You sat at the table with your elbow propped against the metal, fingers tangled in your hair. The room seemed warmer than usual. Every movement felt heavier than it should have, you were heaving like you’ve been doing something.
Law entered the dining room carrying a stack of papers, making a note to check every room before night came.
He barely glanced up at first, at least until he realize it was you that was out here. He stopped in his tracks, eyeing you with subtle surprise.
You managed a weak greeting. “Hello.”
Law didn’t answer, instead he took notes of every unusual behavior. A second later he was standing beside your chair. You barely had time to process it before his palm settled against your forehead. An action neither of you guys expected.
The contact lasted only a moment, still, it felt long enough. Your breath caught, heat already burning in your face became much worse.
Law seemed equally aware of what he’d just done. His hand disappeared almost immediately back to his sides, propping the papers on the table.
He cleared his throat before talking. “You’re sick.” The diagnosis was annoyingly simple, but made the point clear. He tilted his head toward the doorway, telling you to follow. “Should’ve told me sooner.”
Normally you would’ve argued, right now you didn’t have the energy. When you pushed yourself to your feet, however, your legs disagreed with the decision. The room swayed, you caught yourself against the table before you fell completely.
Law made a huff that could’ve been mistaken a laugh, only making you more embarrassed. With a quiet sigh, he stepped back toward you and offered an arm.
He was kind about it, didn’t even make a comment about your lack of ability to even walk. But it was still awkward. You accepted his help anyway.
The moment you did, you caught sight of Shachi. The man looked like he’d just witnessed a miracle, his jaw was hanging open. He had so much enthusiasm it shocked you. You didn’t even get a chance to comment on it but the time he was already walking away.
You ignored him. Mostly because a part of didn’t want to acknowledge what this looked like.
The following days weren’t much better, you sinked into the bed with no other option. Penguin handled most of your meals, still teasing you but made sure you ate. The crew hovered around you like you were on the verge of death instead of suffering through a miserable fever.
Law, however, was somehow worse than any of that. He checked on you constantly. Not enough to seem obvious, just enough that you noticed.
Every few hours he’d appear in the infirmary or your room under the excuse of retrieving something, filing paperwork, organizing medicine, or checking equipment.
Then he’d casually take your temperature, ask how you felt with a weird calmness. Inspect whatever symptoms remained, and leave.
..Only to come back again later.
With nothing else to do, you spent most of your recovery watching him work. That flutter in your heart thumping again.
On a rare occasion, small conversations happened.
“Thank you, Law.” You suddenly murmured, bringing the tea in your hand closer to your face.
That made his pen stop moving, glancing at you before uncomfortably shuffling in his seat. “Where this coming from?” He asked suspiciously, leaning back. “You’re still taking your medication.”
You suddenly let out a hearty laugh, despite your sore throat. “Can’t I be grateful?” You pulled the covers closer to your lap. “You’ve done so much for me, I feel guilty.”
“Don’t be.” He said instantly, his hand getting dangerously close to your face. You don’t know what you braced for, heart pounding, but it wasn’t a flick to the forehead.
You yelped at first, glaring at him with confusion. Though what you saw made all your anger go away, simply from how he was naturally able to laugh so nicely.
A smile still lingered on his face, finally turning back towards the papers. “I don’t.. can’t have you dying on me, so just rest instead of thinking too hard about it.”
You know exact why you fell for him, times like this made it so easy. Though you don’t know why it’s been recently starting to feel mutual.
You began to notice those same signs as well. It wasn’t enough to accuse him of anything. But it was enough to make you wonder, especially because Law treated everyone fairly.
That was one of the things you respected most about him.
So why were things different now?
Your crewmates constantly teased you about it, even your own brother. They would notice you watch him in awe or stay oblivious, and at the time you were certain they were just trying to make you feel better.
The realization settled slowly, or just the idea of it. Tiny moments collecting together until they became impossible to ignore. The extra attention, longer conversations, and then the way his eyes occasionally lingered before he looked away.
You tried not to think too hard about it, mostly because the alternative felt ridiculous. Law didn’t like you, you had accepted that whether you liked him.
Hadn’t you?
Yet every day made that certainty a little harder to hold onto.
—
“Captain.”
He didn’t even react to the sound.
“Law.”
Slowly, he looked to his side, noticing Penguin standing there with a grin on his face. The expression immediately filled him with dread. “What.”
Penguin nodded toward you, talking with Bepo, first day without the dreaded feeling of sickness. You were still smiling, head tilting back at something the bear said.
Law’s stomach dropped, eyes narrowing before looking back at the paper with a grunt. “What about her?”
“Interesting question.”
Law already hated where this was heading.
“You know,” he started, using a hand for emphasis. “You’ve been giving her special treatment, we’re kinda jealous.”
Law immediately returned his attention to the person next to him. Unfortunately that only made Penguin grin wider.
“I have not.” He hissed, closing his eyes like it would help with the situation.
A laugh escaped Penguin before he shook his head. “For years I thought she was the obvious one, but you’re the one sticking by her side for a week straight.”
“Penguin.”
“You’re making this way easier than she ever did.”
Law slowly lowered his paperwork. The warning look he sent would have stopped most people, it didn’t have the same effect with someone that’s known him since kids. Then, because fate apparently enjoyed his suffering, your laugh echoed through the room again.
Without thinking, Law glanced toward you.
The second he did, Penguin started laughing so hard he nearly doubled over.
And for perhaps the first time in his life, Trafalgar Law genuinely considered throwing one of his first friends overboard. He knew he liked you, but didn’t need someone to rub it in.
“Just don’t hurt her feelings, yeah?” His voice softened, and that caught Law off guard. It was kind of him to care for his sibling. “I really need to earn some money from the bet I made.”
Never mind, he’s still the same ass.
“Hell no.”
rule number FOUR, don’t leave marks ⸝⸝.ᐟ⋆
At first, you didn’t like him.
You couldn’t stand him, actually.
The first time you met Sabo, you were sixteen years old. Six years of wondering if Koala was alive, six years of hearing stories and rumors, six years of just wondering. Then one day she appeared again, older, stronger, smiling so brightly it hurt to think about the time you lost with your sister.
..And beside her stood Sabo.
At first glance, he looked respectable enough. Polite. Well spoken. It was the first thing you noticed when it came to his blonde hair and fancy top hat.
The illusion lasted less than ten minutes once he spoke.
From that point on, every interaction somehow turned into an argument. You hated how stubborn he was. Hated how he always seemed convinced he was right. There was not a single part of him that couldn’t push your buttons.
You were convinced Sabo was the most irritating man on the Grand Line.
Sabo, on the other hand, seemed equally convinced that you existed solely to shorten his lifespan.
Every time he saw you climbing somewhere dangerous, sneaking into conversations you weren’t supposed to hear, or volunteering for missions above your experience level, his expression would tighten.
The argument repeated so often it practically became tradition. A bruise on your hip, blood running from his nose after you elbowed him.
Koala standing between you both with the exhausted look, a hand pinching the bridge of her nose.
Seconds before she got her own hit on you guys too.
Thankfully, it wasn’t as common as outsiders would’ve assumed. At some point you became mature enough to realize you will be stuck with him till death. Dislike is still on the table.
As the years passed, Sabo became busier. That was natural considering his dedication to the revolutionary army.
Soon he was spending more time overseas than at headquarters. Missions lasted weeks, sometimes months. Entire seasons would pass without seeing him.
You didn’t mind at first, it’s not like you guys had the sweetest conversations.
Sometimes when you see him at the port, you send out a congratulations for finishing the mission. A small courtesy that lasted thirty seconds. You almost wondered if he was as awkward as you realizing how much has change.
Even as years have passed, you did not have a great relationship with him.
But not a bad one either.
You didn’t want to think about how every year made it a little harder to convince yourself he was as awful as you’d once believed. Those few good moments you had with him changed your entire perspective, he was addicting.
You hated how easily he could make your heart race right before saying something that made you want to shove him overboard.
Most of all, you hated the doubt that lingered behind every interaction.
No matter what he did, no matter how much he seemed to care, there was always a constant presence at his side. Someone he trusted without question. Someone who belonged in his life long before you did.
Koala. You weren’t particularly jealous of the relationship, you loved her too much for that, but rather how you were involved.
Every time he showed concern for you, every time he remembered something important, every time he went out of his way to help, that ugly little thought returned. Maybe it wasn’t you.
The possibility made your chest ache in a way you couldn’t explain. It was unreasonable.
Yet the more you found yourself caring about him, the harder it became to ignore. Because if you were being honest, that fear was no longer coming from annoyance.
It was coming from the terrifying realization that his answer actually mattered to you.
—
You were halfway down the corridor before you heard footsteps behind you. Of course he followed you after you left the conversation. Part of you had hoped he would let the argument die for a few hours. Apparently that had been too much to ask.
“Are you seriously still angry?” He hissed, it was sharp with disbelief.
You stopped so abruptly your boots scraped against the floor, spinning around, you finally faced him.
The frustration that had been simmering in your chest all evening started with him, ended with him. You do not know what changed in the two month duration he was gone. He stood several feet away, one hand clenched tightly around the black glove he’d removed earlier, his expression twisted into something between annoyance and confusion.
As if he genuinely could not understand why you were upset.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” You shot back.
Usually fights like these went physical, but that was the kid in you that wanted that. You guys were older now, so it meant having this uncomfortable conversation.
Despite it being the first switch in your guys relationship, you do not vividly remember it. It went on with the usual stubborn back and forth, but this time you did not hold back.
You said something that caught him off guard. He forgot everything he had to say. Sabo’s expression changed so quickly you almost missed it, for a brief second, he looked genuinely blindsided.
“You really think that’s it?” he asked quietly, he somehow lost all that bite he had. “That you’re only Koala’s sister to me?”
“What else am I supposed to think?”
His laugh was short and humorless. “Right.”
The word fell flat between you. You immediately wished you hadn’t said it. “Sabo—”
“It’s just funny.” He looked away briefly before meeting your eyes again. “I was sitting here wondering how much more obvious I could’ve been.”
Your stomach twisted, a feeling you weren’t prepared for when you started this. “What?” You murmured, the response sounded weak even to your own ears.
“I thought you just didn’t want to notice.” For the first time since the conversation began, Sabo took a step closer. He wasn’t entirely sure what would happen if he did. “So, do you really think I follow you around because of that?” he asked.
He didn’t even give you a chance to respond.
“You think I stay up waiting for you to get back because you’re Koala’s sister?”
The confidence behind your first answer faltered. When he actually said it out loud, the explanation you made sounded ridiculous.
“Every mission,” he continued, taking another step. “Every report. Every time someone mentions your name, I’m the first one asking questions.”
You wanted him to stop, you needed him to before it became real. But that was the logical part of you. The emotional one never felt so reassured before, and would have him never stop.
“And do you know how ridiculous that is?” His frustration finally cracked through “You are the stubborn girl who could never leave my mind. That’s who you are to me.”
The unfinished sentence lingered in the space between you. He didn’t say it, but you knew what the following was.
Looking at him now, standing only a few feet away, it became impossible to keep pretending otherwise. The denial you’d been clinging to felt thinner by the second. Very few people got to see this version of him. The one standing in front of you now, so vulnerable and honest.
His eyes drifted briefly toward your hands, then back to your face. He was silently asking permission. When he reached forward, his movements were slow enough for you to pull back.
You didn’t.
His fingers wrapped carefully around yours, it was oddly intimate. You’ve held his hand before, but not like this. The contact alone nearly undid you.
Sabo let out a quiet breath, following with a chuckle of disbelief. “I’m shocked it took so long.”
You let out an agonizing sigh. “Sorry.”
His thumb brushed lightly against your knuckles, bringing it closer to his face. “I don’t care because I have to.” His voice was barely above a murmur. “I care because it’s you.”
That realization terrified you almost as much as it terrified him, years of this irritation only continued for comfort, not because it was real. It was just easier acting like it.
That was the first day you left a mark. You vividly rememberer throwing the cravat, tugging down at the top of his shirt. Sabo whispered in your ear, a mixture of concern and tease, but shut his mouth when you sucked a spot of his skin. It was rough and mean, a bit of your old irritation in it.
Sabo hissed at first, slipping his hands into your hair as you continued. Once you let off with a pop, you both realized how much better that was than rustling on the floor when you guys ticked each other off.
A hickey on his neck for the first day of confessing, how romantic you guess. Expected from two people with no romantic experience.
You guys did not make it official yet for that reason. But slowly, other people began to notice how your guys relationships has changed.
They began to see you both alone a lot more, during lunch or any break. Sometimes training sessions were spent together as well. But neither of you showed romantic display until it was private. He would nip at your shoulders sometimes, only sharing a sneaky glance before walking away.
It was all the marking that became slightly public. He was a tease, and you were too stubborn to back out. Over time, it became impossible to not see despite how covered his outfit is.
Throughout all of this, Koala did not bat at eye in any romantic relation. You would assume she was actually good at picking up hints, and usually she is! But this was more out of ignorance.
For years she’s known as you guys to never get along properly. She’s now seen a couple of casual conversations, merely thinking you guys were finally becoming friends.
—
The infirmary was quiet, a rare thing for them. Koala sat on one of the stools, sorting through bandages while half listening to Sabo explain how he’d managed to get yet another bruise on his arm during training.
He was sitting on one of the examination beds while Koala checked over a mark near his shoulder. As she reached for another roll of gauze, she paused.
There were a few faint marks over his chest and neck, something he never mentioned before. He didn’t even seem to mind them, rubbing a thumb against it before pulling his shirt up again.
Koala was still curios though, inching closer. “How’d you get those?”
Sabo looked at her, then glanced down at the spot, then back at her. A terrible sign already. He shrugged, “..Kinda just happened.”
She knew he was lying. And it would’ve been left like that if she didn’t get a flashing thought the longer she looked at them. It was hard to play dumb.
“Is the second in command getting hickeys?”
Sabo made the mistake of smiling.
“Oh my god, you’re sneaky! Who is it? Since when? Why didn’t you tell me?”
His smile vanished instantly. “You’re getting nothing out of me.”
“No fun.” She snickered, but far from done. “Is it someone from the Army?”
Sabo stayed silent, which gave her a good enough answer.
“You’re lying.” She gasped, a little bit too excited prying into his life.
“Probably.”
“Sabo.”
He laughed despite himself, that only made her more suspicious. Usually he wasn’t this stubborn about these type of topics.
Plus, she’d know if he was spending time with someone a lot.
Then something clicked. Her eyes narrowed, a small bit of her connecting the secrecy. The way he disappeared during breaks, the way you’d disappeared during breaks.
The fact that whenever she went looking for one of you lately, the other was nowhere to be found either.
Koala slowly turned, a finger falling against her chin. “..no way.”
Sabo immediately recognized that look, it was someone who began connecting way too many dots about her sister and her partner in crime.
“Koala.” He started.
“No.”
“Koala.” Sabo stood up. Unfortunately, panic made him careless. “You can’t tell her I accidentally told you, she’ll kill me.”
The room went silent, maybe for a second or two.
“My sister!?”
Sabo closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. The entire infirmary echoed with her voice, hell, probably the hallway outside too.
Koala pointed at him in complete disbelief. “Sabo, what the hell? I couldn’t have known anytime sooner before it got to hickeys!”
“We aren’t good at this stuff, ok? Ignore that.”Sabo looked everywhere except at her, feeling a heavy gaze uncomfortably on his neck. Instinctively, he put a hand there. “You were supposed to figure it out slower.”
“Slower?!” She looked genuinely offended, pacing the room. “I thought you two barely tolerated each other!”
“We did.”
“For years.”
“Correct.”
Koala threw her hands into the air. “This makes absolutely no sense!”
Sabo couldn’t help it, he laughed at her reaction. Probably wasn’t the way he had it in mind when he began liking you, but pretty close.
That made her even more exasperated. “Oh, this is funny to you?”
“A little.”
“I’m gonna beat you.” For a moment, she actually considered it, and Sabo even waited for it. But instead she took a deep breath. The initial reaction calming down, giving her a chance to sit.
“Don’t think this is over.” Koala hummed, hands in her lap.
Sabo winced, almost shocked there wasn’t a bruise on his face yet. “Thought so.”
Koala buried her face in her hands. “I’m happy for you guys.. I guess. It makes things easier.”
At least now she finally knew why the two people she cared about most had been disappearing together for months.
“But you guys are nasty.”

ACE was being stubborn, ridiculously stubborn. No matter what you said, it rolled right off him as his boots kept carrying him toward the dock, every step sounding more certain than the last.
“Ace.” You snapped.
He finally looked over his shoulder, just enough for that familiar, lopsided grin to flash your way. “What?” he laughed. “I’ll be quick.”
You stepped in front of him before he could take another stride, he couldn’t be trusted. “What are you gonna do?” You murmured, slightly tilting your head back to catch his eyes.
He shrugged, trying to sidestep you. “C’mon, don’t worry so—“
Your finger hooked through the front of his belt. The leather caught against your knuckle as you gave one sharp tug.
He stumbled a half step forward before stopping short, barely a breath away from you. Your hand stayed hooked there, keeping him exactly where he was.
His grin vanished, his lips slightly parted as he let out a soundless gasp.
“Answer me.” you asked again, your eyes locking onto his, “What are you gonna do?”
..Oh.
Oh shit.
Ace’s brain, usually so quick with some sort of comeback lost every bit of tease he had left. He could feel your hand curled around his belt dangerously close. Could feel the slight tension every time either of you breathed.
Close enough that if either of you leaned even the slightest bit farther.. His heart kicked hard against his ribs. Ace’s eyes dropped for the briefest second to your hand, then to your face.
He swallowed, hard. “I.. I uh..” It was a lost cause, he could barely manage low breaths trying to think.
One of your eyebrows lifted, genuinely confused by his expression.
Finally, he rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, suddenly finding the dock incredibly interesting. “I’m..” He cleared his throat. “I’m gonna grab something to eat.”
...
You searched his face another moment before finally giving a slow nod, satisfied. “Okay.” Your finger slipped free from his belt, the pressure slowly easing.
It should’ve been a relief.
“Be safe,” you said, the irritation in your voice softening just enough to sound like concern.
“Yeah.”
Ace realized you were still standing close enough that he could feel the warmth radiating from you. Neither of you moved a single inch.
He knew he should say something clever. Instead, all he managed was another awkward nod before scratching the back of his head with a sheepish laugh.
“I’ll be back before you know it.” He turned to leave, thankful you couldn’t see the grin threatening to spread across his face.
…He really, really liked that.

SABO stood beside you in the middle of the hall, but his mind had drifted far away.
His gaze remained fixed somewhere beyond the carpet floor, unfocused despite being open. Every few seconds his brow would knit, only to smooth again as another possibility crossed his mind. One hand rested thoughtfully against his chin, his thumb absently brushing over the corner of his mouth.
“Sabo.” You murmured, wondering if your words were hitting deaf ears.
No response.
“Sabo.”
His eyes shifted slightly, though not toward you. They remained distant, quietly tracing an invisible thing only he could see.
A quiet sigh escaped you. You reached forward without another word, hooking a finger through the front of his belt before giving a firm tug.
Sabo’s body obeyed before his thoughts did.
His next step caught awkwardly, momentum carrying him back just enough to stop him short. Instinct steadied his footing almost immediately, but the sudden pull shattered the careful thread he’d been following.
“Hm?” His attention caught all at once, the careful thread of thought he’d been following unraveled the instant the tug interrupted his stride.
You let out a baffled huff. “Are you listening now?”
He blinked, eyes finally dropping to the hand that had pulled him. Then slowly lifted to meet yours. The corner of his mouth twitched into the smallest smile— this was a first.
“Well,” he murmured, a quiet chuckle escaping him, “it certainly worked.”
A faint flush of embarrassment crossed his face as the realization settled in. “I wasn’t ignoring you.” He exhaled through his nose, giving an apologetic shake of his head. “I just got too focused again.”
You took the answer with a silent nod and pulled your hand back from his belt.
But, two can play at that game.
Suddenly, you felt a tug at your waistband bring you in— it was Sabo. You did not share the same experience as him to keep a balanced step. You ended up chest to chest, forced to look up with the proximity.
He was smiling, every part of himself now focusing on only you. “I’m listening."

SHANKS
“Excuse me?” You drawled out, matching his pace. For some odd reason this morning, he just kept on pushing your buttons. Your own crewmates didn’t give much support, staying on the sideline.
He kept walking despite it. “You heard me.”
That stupid laugh.
That stupid relaxed stroll.
That stupid confidence that he could say whatever he wanted and charm his way out of it just as easily.
“Oh, really?”
The grin on Shanks’ face lingered as he turned away, already waving a lazy hand over his shoulder. “Mhm, you’ll get over it.”
Big mistake.
The words had barely left his mouth— a firm tug stopped him.
The leather at the front of his belt pulled taut, redirecting his balance just enough that his weight shifted backward instead of forward. Years on boat made the adjustment instinctive— one foot planted, his shoulders settled, and before he could fully process what had happened he’d already turned.
His gaze dropped to a hand, just one finger hooked confidently beneath his belt. Slowly, his eyes lifted to you.
The boat felt strangely quiet, he got heated from his ears to neck. You are cheeky.
“Say that to my face.” You hissed.
For the first time in several minutes, the easy grin he’d been wearing slightly faded from surprise. Shanks felt the smallest flicker of admiration settle in his chest.
Well, that was unexpected. He’d underestimated just how far the frustration had built.
His posture relaxed, the grin returned, but it wasn’t the same carefree one from moments earlier.
“..You really didn’t like that one, huh?” he said, his voice noticeably quieter. A slow chuckle escaped him as he shook his head, his tone was genuinely apologetic. “I deserved that.”
The pull, he meant.
You nodded your head, he was being suspiciously easy. “You did.”
Suddenly, his hand dropped down to your hand hooked on his belt. Your hand slowly loosened in his grip, watching as he brought it to his face with a sly smirk.
“I like it when you do things like that.” He whispered into your hand, that gap you closed starting to become evident. You struggled to his eye contact as he leaned ever so slightly closer.
Well, that backfired on you.
—
MARCO had been standing over the examination table for what felt like hours, sleeves rolled to his elbows, clipboard tucked beneath one arm as he checked over yet another crewmates file.
It was well past the crew’s usual bedtime, not that Marco was ever consistent with sleeping. He had a bad habit.
Still..
“It should be fine, Marco.” You sighed, setting the medicine ledger onto the wooden counter with a dull thud. “You’ve done everything for the day.”
Without looking away from the paper, he waved a dismissive hand. “You can head to bed if you’re tired, yoi. Just let me finish up.”
The answer was soft, but not enough to convince this night.
You frowned.
No. He’d keep saying “just one more” until sunrise if nobody stopped him.
Quietly, you stepped behind him, your fingers caught the leather of his belt at the waist. Then you gave it a firm tug. It wasn’t enough to throw him off balance, but it was enough to halt him mid step.
Marco blinked at the tug. He turned, the clipboard lowering in his hand as his eyes flickered from your face.. to your hand still hooked around his belt.
A slow grin spread across his face. “Now that’s a pretty bold way of getting my attention, yoi.” His eyebrow lifted, amusement dancing across his features. “You sure this is the right place for that?”
Heat rushed straight to your face, faltering ever so slightly. “That is not what I meant.”
“No?” he asked, clearly entertained.
You tugged the belt again, short, insistent this time— pulling him a half step away from the examination table.
“I’m tired,” you said flatly, empathizing with a fake yawn. “Which means we’re tired.”
Marco looked down at the hand refusing to let go. For just a second, his teasing expression softened.
“You’ve been standing in here for hours.”
…
He let out a quiet laugh through his nose, finally setting the clipboard down on the nearby counter with a resigned sigh. “You really weren’t giving me a choice.”
He glanced back toward the paper filled with information, satisfied everything was stable before turning his full attention back to you. “Alright, you win.”
“You say that like it was that hard.”
“It stopped being hard the second you grabbed my belt.” He laughed. “Caught me completely off guard.”
You tilted your head, trying— and failing to not to smile. “So you’ll actually come to bed?”
Marco slipped his hands into his pockets, shaking his head with another amused huff. “Yeah, yeah.”
He gave the abandoned clipboard one last glance before walking toward the door beside you.
“But next time, yoi..” His grin returned in full, his hands finding its way to your lower back, making you shiver. “A tap on the shoulder would’ve been a lot less embarrassing.”

Laughter rang throughout the Thousand Sunny, wrapping the ship in those familiar notes of warmth and belonging that had long become second nature to the Straw Hat crew. Anyone who saw them together would have envied the effortless harmony that bound them.
Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp were in the middle of yet another game of hide-and-seek, turning half the ship upside down in their relentless pursuit of one another. Zoro had long since surrendered to sleep after an especially grueling training session accompanied by a few cups of sake. Franky, positively buzzing with excitement, was buried in the construction of yet another super invention he couldn’t wait to unveil, all while laughing at Brook’s endless jokes and occasionally helping the unruly trio either hide or search for one another. Earlier that afternoon, you girls had basked in the sun together, chatting idly, reading books collected from distant islands, and indulging in little self-care rituals with face masks and creams.
To anyone watching, it was the picture of a peaceful afternoon.
But Sanji had never been just anyone.
A faint crease settled between his brows as his gaze lingered on you.
Something wasn’t right.
Every instinct urged him to hover at your side, to shower you with affectionate questions and fuss over you until you finally admitted what troubled you. Restraining himself required far more effort than he cared to admit, yet he refused to risk smothering you with concern, especially not in front of the others.
To anyone else, you appeared perfectly normal.
To him…
