âI have to be as close to perfection as possible because Alain is always like that, too â close to perfection. I have to be exact in setting the car up, exact in every decision I make. We are in the same factory team. If I want to compete with him I have to give the same as he does. For me it is important to have a competitive car like I have now. It is the first time in my career I have been in such a situation and I feel quite happy. With Alain, I expected it to be as it has turned out and I canât see any reason why it should change. In other words, harmony not friction.â
âSo Senna says he has to be perfect because of me? Iâm facing the same situation. I have to be perfect because of him. A big difference is that for the first time Ayrton has the car to become World Champion and his motivation is high. He wants the Championship and he wants to beat me â but in a sporting way and thatâs good. No problem between him and me, none at all. He is quicker and I have no excuses but honestly I donât think he is that much quicker. He is pushing hard all the time.â

Drivers meeting - from the film 'Grand Prix 66'
How many drivers can you recognise? đ
If a 14 year old made an F1 driver OC they'd be like "oh his dad used to race Ages Ago but then he died so my oc was turned off the sport but was brought back there because that's his Destiny. And then when he was a rookie he got to be team mates with Legendary Veteran. Actually, I changed my mind. What about this Legendary Veteran instead? And then what if the veteran also died and suddenly he was in the spotlight because he's the Chosen One but he has a stereotypical sports film bad guy as a rival but then they kissed about it."
And it sounds like you're making F1's Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way but it turns out that's just Damon Hill.
Ahhhhh its Jackie Stewarts birthday today

Bonus Nigel ruining Jo Ramirezâ day:
[It was in Hockenheim in 1988.] I was eating out with Prost and Senna was having dinner at the circuit. He went to seek Alain, found us in the restaurant and told Alain: "You should call the [McLaren] garage, they're changing your chassis." Many drivers would have thought, "That's not my problem", but not Senna. He'd made the effort to go find his teammate to tell him what was happening, and Alain remembered he had in fact damaged his chassis a little on a kerb.
Jean-Louis Moncet, interviewed in French here
extremely funny because i found the same anecdote with only a few details changed in johnny rivesâs book about 1988 except this time he says senna had a wide smile and was clearly happy to unsettle prost with the news of a broken chassis
Christian Horner getting the sack has got to be one of the top 10 things to happen in F1 while I've watched it.
what i have rn of an alain hat collection

Fresh-faced, pre-perm, 19-year-old Alain Prost receiving an award hosted by the newspaper Le Progrès after winning the French Senior Karting Championship a few weeks ago.
alain prost in a skit on Certains Leeb Show in 1986 where (from my interpretation) his car broke down and he couldn't figure out how to fix it, which caused his date to dump him and for him to miss the whole show. Then, as he was trying to hitch a ride to the show, the lady above told him it was already over and asked if he wanted to go to Vegas with her to which ofc he agrees.
