When he smiled Emilia found herself irresistibly smiling too. She’s almost forgotten how but it felt nice, in the moment before she caught herself. There was something about this boy. He was strange, but not in the way she was used to. She didn’t really know what to make of him. But he hadn’t hurt her yet. Didn’t mean he wasn’t going to but where else was she going to go now? That other boy might still be out there.
She glanced out the front of the shop as if the thought might have conjured him, before glancing quickly back at the boy who had mounted the dusty steps and was inspecting everything around him with great fascination. She wondered what that was life. He looked so fearless. She’d never be that, not anymore. She’d spent too long being afraid of life itself.
“You’re strange,” she said nervously as she picked her way carefully across the floor towards the stairs. The bottom one creaked loudly when she stepped on it and it made her giggle nervously. She’d been so used to making no noise. It felt odd to make noise now and know it wasn’t going to get her hurt. She bounced slightly on the step just to make it do it again and grinned, unable to help it, looking up at the boy. “Why would you be hard to get rid of? Why would you want anything to do with me? I’m no one. Nothing."
As the curiosity of the boy got the better of him, he slowly climbed the old wooden stairs and peered into the dark and gloomy second floor. His eyes where wide open, heart beating fast as if some unforeseen circumstance was about to arise. The wail of a thousand screams could be heard as the wind beat down on the old latched window weaving its way through the cracks that had formed over time. The sunlight shone down on the dusty panes of glass illuminating the room ever so slightly.
“You’re strange.”
Fornax chuckled softly."At least we have something in common," he replied, eyes attempting to pierced through the dark void. Strange would probably be a understatement, but it was because she was different that had drawn him to her that very day.
“Why would you be hard to get rid of? Why would you want anything to do with me? I’m no one. Nothing.”
He turned to her with a cock head to one side, "Must you question everything, Emilia?…But if you must know. I think faith has brought me to you today," he turned back to face awdwad "And you are not nothing. jawndjkandjanw
Even though the slightest fear was rooted deep within him, his sense of adventure made him inspect the second floor a little more. There was something magical about this room that drew him in, all that antique wood that painted a picture of former glory. Yet there was something deeply disturbing about this room, the air was icy cold and even though they where the only living souls in that room, there was a feeling that something else was watching their every move.
