I'm an aspiring writer interested in understanding more. When I get to thinking about some of the things I see in a college environment and in 'the real world' I start to wonder if there's something I'm missing. I don't think I'm seeing the full picture and would LOVE to hear others' point of views. What makes you feel hurt, upset, happy, sad... All of these things I would like to understand. Feel free to leave comments and chat. I'd like to keep this a calm, friendly, safe space where you can share your ideas with someone who's incredibly interested.
Seriously nothing pisses me off more than seeing this shit all over tumblr. Get over it and let people support whatever they want, regardless of who they are.
The stupid thing about hating people who support things and âdonât know what itâs likeâ is that you are missing the point of your whole protest. Arenât you protesting to get more awareness amongst people who didnât suffer through it? You donât need to get a person who has been discriminated on your team, because fat chance is that they are already on your side. Itâs the âwhite peopleâ that do not get discriminated that you want to notice your cause and support it. Why else are you protesting?
Many SJWs simply want to attack anything that threatens them with equality thus depriving them of the perpetual victimhood they base their entire personalities around, so please donât encourage them with posts like that
Spread the love not the hate. Unless someone's being just totally not-- I have to find a non body shaming way to insult someone-- is jerk okay? No really, is jerk okay? Please educate me.
Anyway, yeah lets not hate on someone before we get to know them and see their horrible personality and twisted beliefs about how only straight white males should have power, yeah? At least some are making an effort to be sensitive to the issues and beliefs of others.
That being said I'm sure some will disagree. Feel free to explain if you've got a good story about snap judgment td or differing opinions as always!
THIS IS A PUPPY ITâS NOT EVEN A FULL-GROWN DOG AND IT UNDERSTANDS âNOâ IT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND YOUâRE TELLING ME TEENAGE BOYS AND MEN CANâT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF âNO.â THAT IS BULLSHIT.
This... This is a really good point. I'm all about trying to limit the amount of negative feelings people have about being "horrible human beings" (if they truly have good intentions) as we navigate a world where social justice issues are constantly evolving and we are all trying to coexist peacefully. So, yeah, let's all take a minute to remember rape can cross gender lines and the "enemy" and "victim" can come in all forms. Your gender does not instantly make you an offender or the problem. It just means we have to acknowledge the problem and how to handle it a little differently depending on our situation.
Really please stop trying to invalidate words like transmisogyny and misogynoir because your shitty feminism erases the specific ways that certain groups experience misogyny due to their various intersections.
So this is what Iâm talking about and where I get curious. I mean absolutely no disrespect when I write this so I hope I donât offend anyone.
See this comment has a valid point, we shouldnât overlook a serious issue and the author had the opinion that the post theyâre responding to was downplaying something they take very seriously. Passion and concern for a social issue! Thatâs so admirable it almost brings me to tears! Itâs absolutely amazing to stand up and fight for something you believe in and I applaud this person for having the guts do to this! But my worry is when we start to phrase things like this, that weâre not really spreading the good we want to. Something about saying âyour shitty feministâ anything is really harsh. In fact, the entire post reads as very acidic.
I get it, really I do, that being upset with an issue that you have to get intense, but I donât think we need to get this personally hostile with people and speculate on their âshittyâ beliefs. It just beats down the same people that are trying to explore their own opinions and find a voice of their own. Sometimes, yeah, they need to be exposed to different opinions but like this?
Iâm just curious because, well because I donât know. It looked like it took a couple of seconds to type out of anger instead of a way of trying to engage someone in form of alternative thinking. I donât expect it all to be sunshine and roses, but was this necessary? Thatâs not rhetorical. Iâm just wondering if anyone has anything to say on the matter.
For the sake of curiosity, please feel free to respond!
(I should probably note too this comment is even that bad, it's just a prime example of my question)
