I think the ways grace and rocky go about saying "hey don't be sad we are competent" are 1 really sweet and 2 sososo funny because grace, ever the teacher, will be like "hey don't be sad, I'm a science human, we'll figure it out together" and rocky will be like "oh my god stop crying you dumbass, I figured out how to solve the problem twenty minutes ago. lack of sleep is making you stupid. idiot." And they're both like, wow this is exactly what I needed to hear <3

The fact that one of the main musical themes in Project Hail Mary is a Dies Irae but in a major tonality means SO MUCH to me, you guys have no idea. This motif that, for centuries, has been associated with death and despair, recontextualized in a warm, hopeful, positive light. I'm gonna cry and throw up if I think about it too hard. can't stop thinking about how andy weir said that rocky is essentially baby talking to grace the entire time because the way he normally speaks is too advanced for their makeshift translator to understand (which makes sense, there is a limited amount of words inputted). so basically the entire time we've been treating rocky as if he's one of the dogs from "up", the ones with the collar that outputs their thoughts in human language. we've been treating rocky like a pet. when actually, rocky has been talking to ryland like a puppy the entire time.... even before y'alls fanon of ryland becoming rocky and adrian's pet human in his zoo enclosure.

The idea of them adding rain and Dr Grace immediately disliking it and going inside is just so tasty. On an animal level the biodome team are simply not pleased that he displays an aversive response!! AND YET this is precisely the whole deal with rain... even if they know that and the experience coordinator appreciates the extra tool to encourage him to move through different areas and spend his time in different places... it's just inarguably annoying to see Dr Grace squint and hunch in your PRECIOUS RAIN.
