“I’m  - I’m okay.” Oliver insists gently, finding himself looking at the girl with an almost terrified expression on his face. He feels it, deep within his chest, the mix of loneliness and anxiety that makes him want to lean into her concern and shove it away all at the same time. No one has ever taken care of him, hardly even his parents, he can take care of himself.

It’s always just been him. It will always just be him.
