We actually live on, or rather near the west coast! We have plans in the future to focus on playing shows in California, or perhaps even tour throughout it, as well as Oregon and eventually Washington.

Review: Sunset & Allen by For You, My Lady

Imagine American Football with a female vocalist combined with an accessible indie pop vibe and you have Las Vegas based outfit For You, My Lady.

Sunset & Allen begins with familiar twinkle guitars tuned to FACGCE akin to the introduction riff from ‘Stay Home’ by AF, setting the sombre tone for the rest of the record. Creative drumming provided by drummer Bryson drives us on a journey accompanied by nice, upbeat low end tones throughout the entire record.

My personal favourite track on Sunset & Allen is Monsters We Conquer. In the world of emo revival, a lot of bands can begin to sound the same, but there’s just something about this song and release that makes For You, My Lady stand out from the rest of the crowd. When listening to this song, you can really tell that this is a band that isn’t just throwing music out there for the sake of it. They’re really thinking about what they’re writing and making a concious effort to release music that they know sounds good and is well written in terms of structure and techniques.

My only bit of advice to FY,ML would be to not fall into the trap of only ever sounding like your influences and that you shouldn’t be afraid to try and craft your own sound using those influences as exactly that… but it is evident that there’s some really awesome sections in these songs that are memorable and for a first real release, it’s a superb effort.
