She hovers over the couch, her shadow blanketing Zoya who sits half-amused and wary beneath Chief.

The Director of the MBCC looks unrecognizably smug today, perhaps something to do with hearing her own name being called out in a conduct in she hasn't expected to hear from the Legion's Commander of all people. "Tell me more, you were so loud just now... have you ever thought about me like this?" Slender fingers hook around and tug suggestively on the thin string of cloth Zoya deems worthy of being called a garment and not a scandal. She snaps it right against the pale skin of her hip bone, a dark thrill running down Chief's gut at the sinner's jolt of surprise.

Speaking through gritted teeth, Zoya keeps up the act of pretending to be unphased just barely. A heavy hand settles atop Chief's head, "Not quite, you're usually..." Her voice drops, dark pupils overtaking icy blue as she follows the sight of Chief eagerly kneeling between her thighs - like a puppy anticipating a treat and some undeserved praise for a trick she hasn't yet even performed "Lower"

so important to me that IMMEDIATELY after we get the perspective switch to nana osaki she lays everything on the table about how she is genuinely, like, in love with hachi. oh look we’re getting nana o’s perspective—BAM. FIREWORK FESTIVAL SCENE. SHE FEELS LIKE A TEENAGE BOY FALLING IN LOVE FOR THE FIRST TIME. one of the first things we learn once we get fully into her interiority. because it’s the most important thing about nana o that we don’t know yet, something that will likely never become fully apparent to hachi, just how deeply nana cares for her

The first time Chief ever hears Zoya sing, it stirs something hauntingly familiar between her ribs. It's an unassuming Syndican tune, hummed behind closed lips painted the color of plums. She sets her mobile terminal down, her grip on the device slacking in her distraction as her head turns towards the source of her enchantment.

She hardly remembers what she was so worried about just minutes earlier, only knows that she'd suddenly been drawn towards this rare display of ease from the Legion Commander. Long legs eat distance between the neatly arranged shelves of binders to the window offering a view of the bureau's front yard with just a few, slow steps; her hands occupied with absentmindedly thumbing through pages she's not even reading. Chief watches her, watches the way the few rays of sunlight peeking between heavy clouds still manage to make her seem heaven-kissed, pale skin glowing underneath the sun's grace... Most of all her voice, smooth and resonant, gripping her chest in a way that briefly convinced Chief that she could live the rest of her life taking in only half of the air she needed to breathe if it meant being able to continue listening.

Distracted long enough, it only takes the sudden and shrill sound of her own alarm to jolt Chief out of actively daydreaming about Zoya who stood on just the other side of the room. She scrambles to both wrench her eyes away from the woman and make it seem like she wasn't at all enraptured by the sound of her humming just now. A task, she finds after knowing laughter rumbles from Zoya's throat, she had just wonderfully failed at.

You ask me if I'm sound of mind but I'm looking for connections and reference to ZoyaChief in every miniscule interaction and digging apart dialogue and narration for subtext. I'm perfectly sound of mind why do you ask

Possessive Zoya is overdone, it is boring and repetitive!! I yearn for Chief who digs her nails into Zoya's marked wrist, playfully remarking that she can be such a headache when her mildly obsessive tendencies get the better of her, but she's harmless, she swears

It's all jokes and teasing remarks until Chief uses any and all excuses to stay close, growing more unreasonable by the minute. Possessive Chief is silly in that she promises it's natural to seek out security and reassurances and obviously, she has it under control... If only she wasn't so eerie and unsettling when it spiked. Suddenly Zoya's teasing remarks about Chief being clingy aren't as funny anymore, suddenly it's gone from insisting on letting hugs last a few seconds longer to canines sinking into her lips and cheekily lathing up the blood that spills forth; nail indents that previously left no lasting marks now insist on turning the skin beneath it dark purple. Zoya thinks that the little director is lucky it takes more than just a few kitten scratches to truly move her but therein sleeps a darker abyss behind those brilliant grey eyes, insatiable and greedy... It is only through Chief's grace and immovable will that it doesn't do more harm than the urge to mark.

Zoya sometimes thinks, in these rare occasions, that if Chief could devour her, she likely would have already if only because it would mean keeping her tucked close to her heart.
