I love how my husband isn’t at all concerned when I tell him that I want tuberculosis for dinner.
I love that the background ambience of L’s theme is a crackling fire followed by a hammer and nail. Gotta love that ✨symbolism✨.
Ok, so I restarted my ZA playthrough (because the end made me too sad to continue) and I’ve been documenting the character’s journey…
I think this is the moment where I should’ve figured out in my first playthrough that Ivor… was an idiot.
Like, in a meta sense, it makes sense for him to explain this concept. Learning moves doesn’t work the same way in Legends games as it does in the main series… however, in context, he’s explaining this to a college aged adult who has spent their whole life in this world and would most likely understand the very basics of Pokemon battles even if they’d never done it before. If the PC were a child like they are in the mainline games, this line would then make more sense in context but as is, he looks either like a dumbass or like he’s condescending to you.
So… I started a new file on legends ZA and did the bench escape to customize my character before I played the rest of the game.
Hey @amestilskin, here’s an experience I had today that might help you in the future.
Brain: That event went as expected but it was bad. The world is ending.
Stomach: I agree. The world is ending.
Me: *eats something*
Stomach: I’m happy.
Brain: I have concluded that the world is, in fact, NOT ending.
The stomach and the brain have weird communication issues.
Pokémon is weird.
Gen 1: 11-year-old dissolves the mafia.
Gen 2: Different 11-year-old dissolves the same mafia 2-3 years later.
Gen 3: A 12-year-old settles an argument between a scientist and a pirate about whether a spa or beach vacation is better by either fighting their respective gods or summoning a third god to tell them that they’re both pretty.
Gen 4: Another 12-year-old stops overly cynical lunatic from destroying the world because he thinks people are dumb.
Gen 5: The knights of PeTA (not to be confused with irl PeTA who wouldn’t be caught dead making a competent effort for their stated cause) are stopped from taking over the world on 2 separate occasions by 2 different teenagers—one of whom was potentially a former member of the organization—over the span of 2 years.
Gen 6: Fashion police decide nuclear winter would make the world prettier. Group of teenagers disagree.
Gen 7: Hardened thug who takes in troubled youth teams up with fashion model who secretly abuses her kids to establish contact with extraterrestrials so the model can add them to her taxidermy/trophy pet collection. They are stopped by the new kid in town and an aspiring beach bum. Thug proceeds to rethink his life.
Gen 8: A group of 3 mostly average kids and a spoiled rich kid work hard to reach the World Cup and win the championship. Two of them fight a god of calamity at the last minute to ensure the championship match isn’t cancelled.
Gen 9: Protagonist attends Self Discovery Academy, sets out on a private study and completes 3 separate quests.
Proving that they’re a better pet owner than the class president.
Helping an orphan save his dog by fighting giant monsters.
Helping the shy girl dissolve her anti-bullying club by beating up her friends and consequently proving to the school board that victims of bullying shouldn’t be punished for standing up for themselves.
Then the protagonist gathers the friends they made along the way to put to rest the ghost of a mad scientist by stopping their inadvertent plot to destroy the world with time travel.
Artist and aspiring storyteller
I made a Bluesky account. I’ll probably use it just as much as my twitter. Lol.
I loved the Harry Potter series so much growing up. It helped me find places to escape when things got hard (even if it wasn’t the wizarding world itself) and was one of the things I used to keep magic and wonder alive in my life even into my adulthood. I want to reclaim the joy of that difficult but loving world in spite of the hateful fiend who created it even if only for myself.
Time to explore AUs.
“The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches
Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies
And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not.
And either must die at the hands of the other for neither can live while the other survives The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies.”
The Chosen One is Dead is a Harry Potter AU (though I suppose it’s more accurate to call it a “Wizarding World” AU) Following Juno Richter. In this version of the story Voldemort actually considers the consequences of the power of love and actually succeeds in killing Harry Potter (as the title implies) by killing the child first before killing the parents. Since the Longbottoms were already being dealt with, as far as he was concerned, he’d won. He’d defeated destiny. It hadn’t occurred to him that anyone else could fulfill the prophecy.
Enter Juno, the girl who defeated the Dark Lord. As the daughter of a single mother and an unknown father, she was an unexpected twist. That said, upon discovering the prophecy herself she does quickly realize that she was never MEANT to be the chosen one. She wasn’t even option B. She was destiny’s contingency plan in case the Dark Lord got wise to the game too quickly. This results in some rather justified imposter syndrome. Regardless of what should have been, though, Juno is the chosen one now and she has to be the one to defeat the Dark Lord again.
How do you like this version of events @amestilskin?
I think I just figured out a great way to say “you think a lot but you’re also stupid.”
Just because there’s a house party, it doesn’t mean the owners are home.
Inktober day 31—Landmark Anniversary
Happy 1 year anniversary to my wonderful, loving husband.
Happy Halloween!
Inktober day 30—Violin
So I took this opportunity to do something of a pose study using myself as reference. (Much thanks to my lovely husband for taking the reference photo. 😘) One of my actual cats (here represented by Meowscarada) enjoys listening to me play my violin.
Inktober day 11—Snacks Dessert
This cake was delicious. Sadly, there was no way I was gonna draw this thing freehand (original pic below the cut) but I had to make it Pokemon themed… and “ink”.
Inktober day 10—Nomadic
Finally, today’s prompt, in which I finally said “screw it” and put in a character I made for D&D first. Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time I’ve given a D&D character Pokemon. Just the first time I’ve drawn it. Gaius can canonically traverse the multiverse freely anyway and his father has a shiny Zoroark.
(btw, my D&D blog is @artsyarcane)
Inktober day 9—Sun
Morrigan’s espeon, Soleil.
Inktober day 8—Hike
I have to tag @bluebellowl in this one because the 1950s fashion googling I did is entirely their fault. It’s also their fault the twins are in this D&D world… among other things about said world.
Inktober day 7—Passport
Now I’ve just given up on the subtlety and references and am now just doing Pokémon themed D&D art. This is a mist talisman.
Inktober day 6—Trek
Now I’m starting to lean into D&D a little bit since I’ve been doing a lot of world building for this setting lately. And yes, the subway masters are canonically in this setting. (Don’t ask what happened to Emmet’s hand.)
