help me write my master thesis on dracula daily pls
i'm continuing the trend of writing academic papers about media i'm obsessed with by writing my master thesis about the dracula daily (and re:dracula) community, but to do that i need your input!
it would be absolutely amazing if i could have a few minutes of your time to fill in this survey - and if i'm greedy i'll have a few second more for you to share this around so more people can see it!

Did you know? The reason citation in APA use only initials and not full names is because some women ran an experiment. They submitted some articles they’d written to a journal and the articles were rejected. They changed nothing about the articles except the authors’ names, which they changed to male names, and resubmitted them. The articles were accepted.

The holy grail of searching through academic literature is coming across a string of publications that are like:
Here’s An Idea. Smith et al. 2016
Terrible Idea; a comment on Smith et al. 2016. Johnson 2016.
You’re Wrong Too; a response to Johnson 2016. Nelson 2016.
Guys Just Stop Fighting, None Of Us Know What’s Going On; a Review of the Current Literature. McBrien 2017.
Not even an exaggeration.

i’m gonna be honest, going for a forensic psych career (which does take a TON of school, not just undergrad depending on the job) might not be a good idea if you genuinely romanticize infamous murderers. it’s not going to be helpful for your career or your clients or healthy for you, esp if you make that shit public. i’m not trying to lecture anyone and i rly hope fangirls grow out of it as many do, but i see it allllll the time on here w/ppl who say they want to go into the forensic field and at the same time make super disrespectful posts. there’s nothing wrong with being interested in it obviously, but it becomes different when you’re actually working w/those people irl, and can affect your work with them, even if you don’t mean to!
no shade but as someone who does work in the field fangirling is def looked down upon/seen as creepy as fuck, even tho many people are interested in true crime. also like, it’s not a good basis for conducting serious professional work with people who have similar cases to the ones you fangirl over. there’s a line between interest and romanticizing obviously and if you’d like to seriously work with these people it’s important to check yourself.
Signal boost the h e c c out of this. I always forget the differences and its occurring to me that ive been having an anxiety attack for about a week now
i’ve had both anxiety attacks and panic attacks, and there is a pretty clear difference between the two. panic attacks can have a trigger though, in fact, many do, but they may not conscious triggers. a smell; sound, word, phrase or even a person can act as an unconscious trigger. that’s why it’s a good idea to try and mentally retrace your steps after a panic attack, and hopefully figure out if there was anything that could’ve caused it that you didn’t recognise at the time.
one of the most important things to remember with a panic attack, and i know this is something we’ve all heard, but i believe it bears repeating; you’re not going to die from a panic attack, recognise when you’re having an attack or know you’re about to, and just breathe, slow, deep breaths. try to think of something comforting, or even watch a video that you know will calm you down. my go to coping mechanism is cat videos, or if i’m unable to watch a video for whatever reason, i’ll try and imagine cats sitting near me and purring. it sounds weird, but it works for me.

The thing with statistics - via
Numbers don’t lie but people can sure as fuck pick and choose the numbers they give you and phrase things to make them sound like they mean things they don’t
learn fucking stats or at least how they can hurt
