Ok obvious spoiler warning under cut
Ok so fun and silly stuff first
- lotta fan service, basically any ship you can think of gets some kind of one off line which is pretty funny
-i like the animation(some of it lowkenuinely gave ai vibes though ngl but take this with a grain of salt the download I got wasn’t high quality so I wasn’t heavily scrutinizing the animation also ai basically has free reign to train on anything on the internet so anything that looks like ai could’ve trained it and i wasn’t paying enough attention for you to draw any kind of conclusion from this post)
- lotta cute stuff and funny stuff generally a great time(didn’t feel like it fit the tone at times)
-Sonem is bad asf(#needthat)
-the design for Jirhana is beautiful
-the design of the pig spirit is really trippy and cool
-overall everything is just designed really well
I feel like it was very simple plot-wise. And I get it’s for kids but hear me out (I actually have other stuff to say about it being “for kids” because I’m pretty sure the main fan base watched it as kids and are now grown up but I digress)
Basically as I’m watching (and I will be bringing up the ‘political and economic state of the world rn👆🏾’) all I can think is like “The villain is lowk justified here” and I mean it was very clear from the beginning that something crazy was gonna happen to make the villain absolutely batshit crazy but at face value reacting violently to genocide is pretty justified
I honestly wish they kept Taga as more morally grey instead of just making him evil at the end because he really wasn’t, he was the lone survivor of a genocide
Anyways overall this has been something I’ve been thinking about more mostly because I saw a video criticizing American made media especially American media made for children always having a satisfying or just solution. And now that Its on my mind every movie I’ve watched has left me wondering in the last 20-30 minutes “ok, now how are we gonna wrap this up?”
And then it’s always like super unlikely and lucky thing happens and everything works out in the end. And like maybe that works in another premise but we’re talking about people dying violently sometimes really wanting things to conclude peacefully isn’t enough and reacting violently to violence doesn’t make you a bad person.
Overall I think kids can benefit from more morally grey media but the movie was still entertaining just not what I’ve been feining for😼🥱
I would give it a 6.5/10 but I think if it released(or I guess not released more like leaked) when I was too young to gaf it would be a 9.5/10
Anyways this is just my opinion and I am just some random on tumblr feel free to disagree
