no like actually i heard my entire young teenage life how badly the characterization in warrior cats is but i'm only now really understanding how genuinely ooc every character acts in every situation, like it feels like the authors sometimes have a spinny wheel where they pick a reaction and the character and changes the personality of that character to be useful in current situation.

like im just picturing more consistently written characters such as rose tyler or dana scully pulling something like this and that is what made me realise. holy fuck, this is not the same character that was written like a book prior and i dont mean they got traumatised or redeemed. just randomly changed. i remember how ppl were complaining how tigerheartstar would flip between decent dude, fuckboy, a genuine asshole and a danger to the clans, my god it's actually so infuriating

imagine taking a character that likes kids, is patient with them, protects and loves their community in one book and make them be their community's no 1 problem just cause in the next. fucking hell.
