Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) dir. J.J. Abrams
So romantic
I love you my Reylo fam!!!!!
coarse and rough and irritating by frak-all
The first time Ben sees Rey in a bikini, his oafish left hand just sort of spasms around a new tube of Neutrogena SPF 100+ face sunscreen, squeezing hard enough that nearly half its thick white contents eruptsâcoating his palm, the mirror, and the floorâin one great big mortifying spurt.
Itâs a metaphor from the universe even he canât ignore.
A beach week au that somehow also morphed into a soccer au.Â
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [AO3]Â - Now complete!
(yes, it is titled after that quote. yes, it is entirely self-indulgent fluff. no, iâm not apologizing for any of it.)

9 ž? Think youre being funny, do ya?
you know I once googled how very organized housewives kept their homes super clean. And one thing they suggested was, if a task can be done in less than 2 minutes, do it right away.
And I have to think about this very often when depression tells me to delay doing things, if it tells me something is too much work right now etc.
If I can do it in less than 2 minutes I can do it no matter how exhausting it seems.
Thatâs what I tell myself. And it works!
I get more done and after 2 minutes I usually realize the pain doing this thing is not so horrible as my brain suggested. And then I keep going and expand the task and get real work done, holy shit
ThatâsâŚ. actually brilliant. Two minutes is so short, itâs relatively an easy amount of time to FORCE yourself to work on something, even when youâre just completely deflated.
What works really really well for me is to compound annoying tasks that donât require much thought with something actually pleasant. It took a long time to find the actual pleasant thing, but with audiobooks I can actually end up looking for chores to do because I want to continue listening to the book, and it doesnât combine well with anything except the most mindless work.
Thatâs how I cleaned my bathroom top to bottom two weeks ago, after barely being able to pick up empty loo rolls from the floor forâŚwell, months.
At my worst places in mental and/or physical health, instead of setting to complete a task, Iâd just set to work as long as a song or playlist was on. And there were some really short songs. And really short playlists.
Like I might use are âA Working Dayâ by Ben Folds or âHappy Working Songâ from Enchanted. Theyâre both about two minutes. Iâd do those. Or if I did the playlist? Itâs 17 minutes total.
Iâve even been listening to podcasts and been like âI will get up and clean for as long as they are running their mid-episode ads.â
And yeah, a good portion of the time, getting up to do that small amount, while giving myself permission to do no more, was all I needed to find the juice to actually keep going. The song or playlist or ad break finishes and I go âactually, I can finish this pile of dishes, since Iâm already here.â
But if it doesnât? If I reach the end of that and go âokay, Iâm done. Iâm not gonna do any more,â thatâs great! I did something, which is what matters. And I did what I told myself I would do, so I havenât failed my goal.
HONESTLY
Trevor discusses Black Lives Matter, Colin Kaepernick and more with Tomi Lahren.
If you âdonât see color,â then you canât acknowledge that someone who is a different race than you has different experiences than you.
If you âdonât see color,â then you can ignore it when there are protests that another black child or teenager was killed by a police officer, because you donât see that as a racial issue.
If you âdonât see color,â you canât acknowledge that other people DO and they treat said people accordingly. You canât acknowledge your privilege and then how could you ever hope to stand up and say that itâs wrong? Because being the benefitting party doesnât excuse your ignorance and neglect. And I canât help but notice that itâs only white people who say they canât see color. When you ask people of color, they canât not see it because it defines many aspects of their lives and their interactions with the world. Â
Iâm definitely not demanding it or saying you have to, but readers quoting back their favorite lines/moments of a fic/chapter is the absolute best, and every single one of you who has ever done this deserves to find $20 on the ground. Not all heroes wear capes, yâknow? Â
