SPRITZ is the classic Venetian aperitif, itâs a mix of white wine, Aperol (sweeter) or Bitter Campari (bitterer), a squirt of seltz or Sparkling mineral water. The drink was originated in Venice while it was part of the Austrian Empire. Later venetians found that the drink was lacking character so they added liqueurs: thus the Venetian SPRITZ was born in the early 20s and the idea was exported by Venetian themselves. Bar hopping (Bacari tour) in the Venice itâs a must for any visitors. Usually served with a variety of âcichetoâ (small rich apetizer), spritz can ne enjpyed before or after meals.
