Anything to walk on land 🔪 2021
Katara and Sokka
I’m tired of people who are left behind or not fitting in the society, of having dealt with adverse life events in the past (le “tragic backstory”) portrayed as villains. standing up for themselves, the struggle to fight the forces that caused their downfall is shown as villain behaviour. I’m tired of seeing passionately pursuing one’s own ideas and having an unshakeably strong set of values, of wanting change and actively working towards it as an antagonistic quality.
The modern media portrayed these as a “relatable antagonist” while serving up a bland protagonist with barely any redeeming qualities. Nowadays they rarely bother to even have a tangible villain, to discourage any fighting or striving for the better, to pacify the masses. All of this is being used to obfuscate the qualities of real life villains in plain sight who are actively making our lives miserable
i've come to realisation that using this character archetype as villainous is a deliberate psyop by the mainstream media is to vilify people who aren't at ease with the current state of of the world and wish they could do something about the injustices and the seemingly ideologically incoherent "intellectuals" who set the status quo that allows all of this to happen in the first place

i just can't convey the frustration and sorrow that it's been to grow up at first without the internet and then watching it bloom into this useful, fun, connecting force you sometimes spent time on, only for it to degrade into this constant oppressive waste of time and energy where people are constantly pumping out algorithmically designed content for max algorithmic appeal and even the most simple search generates either no results or an infinite abyss of ai generated slop none of which is usable or correct. we briefly had a library of alexandria and then fed it into a paper shredder so advertisers could sell a random mash of pulp back to us at a premium.
thank god it's OVER 🙏🏻 it was exhausting but into r3 i guess!
