About our Practice

Our Mission

This zine focuses on sensitive topics concerning mental health and institutionalization. It is not our intention to make light of these issues in both the fictional realm nor in the real world. Our mod team primarily consists of people who have first-hand experience with mental illness and institutionalization, either their own experiences or those of a loved one. The focus of the zine is making our voices heard, as people who have directly dealt with these topics, through the lens of Gravity Falls and the Theraprism.

The Theraprism as portrayed in The Book of Bill already has both glaring and inconspicuous issues with how it treats its patients (see "The Wellness Void"), and that is something that we will not be glossing over or shying away from. We are striving for this project to explore and discuss the inherent implications of this institution’s existence. This could range from light-hearted interpretations to serious depictions, as long as they are done respectfully. Exploration does not equal endorsement, but we will be working closely with our contributors to make sure these topics aren't taken lightly or treated as a joke. We hope to do this subject, and readers like you who may have experienced similarly, justice. Thank you!
