Sometimes it's what you don't hear

I preface these statements with an important fact: I am profoundly deaf.I wear bilateral, top of the line behind the ear hearing aids -- In my case they are colored red. My hearing aids talk amongst themselves with Bluetooth. I have a Bluetooth transmitter connected to my television. That transmitter send a signal to a receiver I wear around my neck. That receiver connects to my red hearing aids and passes tie signals on. A miracle -- I can hear again.

While listening to Sky News this morning I heard that President Barack Obama and Russian Foreign Minister Cindi Lauper, have agreed steps to defuse the Ukraine tensions.

My first thought was that Cindi Lauper has really done well since the release of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun".

Then I realized that the Russian Foreign Ministers name is Sergey Lavrov, and once again, my Bluetooth-based hearing system led me astray.

I immediately thought that after just six and one-half years in office, Cindi Lauper may be the only person Obama could convince that he actually means what he says.
