Photographs from the 2016 New York Produce Show. There were conferences and talks throughout the day at Javits Center, some of the speakers were very passionate and entertaining. There were an abundance of vendors from farms showing off their produce, new products, and technology regarding the industry. At the end of day City Harvest came and picked up all the remaining goods to donate.

Had the pleasure of photographing the @newyorkproduceshow last year. I spent three days documenting talks, vendors, and a special luncheon over at The Plaza. Each day was a new location and event. I didn’t realize how enormous of an industry produce was, It’s in our lives everyday, I just never thought about the business and all the pieces that make it work. I got to meet some really kind people and eat some different and at times strange produce.

After arriving in Bethesda, MD I met up with Mavi, Grace, and Tori on their way to document the Women’s March on Washington. Mavi directed, Tori produced and Grace was on sound. I helped film some extra shots and interviews that we did throughout the day. It was so amazing being there seeing so many people united in a cause. It definitely lifted my spirits after the night spent at the camp grounds where there were Trump supporters and Trump signage. These Women did a tremendous job filming this project under some difficult conditions and I can’t wait the see the final cut. I will post updates when I get more info!

I decided last minute to drive down with Allen Ying to D.C. to witness history and to help out my girlfriend, Mavi Phillips who was working on a project about the Women’s March. We hit the road the afternoon of the inauguration in Allen’s bio-diesel fueled Mercedes. Since our trip was planned so late we decided to camp outside of the D.C. Metro area at the Cherry Hill Park camping and R.V. park. There was a mix of Women’s March and Trump supporters who had made the campsite home for the weekend. The interior of the office was decorated with a life sized Trump, and some campers close to where we set up put Trump signage around their tents and above the communal sink. Allen and I made a drive into downtown D.C. the night of the inauguration, but most of the commotion had settled down and only those attending evening affairs and some selling wares were present.

My sister-in-law Deirdre taking me through her garden at home in Stowe, Vermont. I hadn’t seen Deirdre in 15 years since I last lived in Stowe with my half brother David. Deirdre curated all of the plants on the property and has a wild knowledge of all that is growing and living there. This was the second day of my visit and I really wanted to photograph my family as best I could but since I hadn’t seen them in so long I was reserved. I love documenting people doing what they love because once she got started talking about the plants I began to photograph her and it felt really natural. The sunshine, the landscape, and family were all great company.

Last Summer I made a trip to Vermont to visit my half brother David who I hadn’t seen in 15 years. I used to travel up from Florida some winters as a teenager and we’d ski or hike in the snow and on frozen lakes. He didn’t have kids then and he was sort of like my other cooler Dad. I lived in Stowe, VT in his home around the end of 1999 and nearly gave up shooting skateboard photography to pursue a new path in marketing and ad copy. It took one trip down to Tampa to photograph a contest to realize that I had the photo bug for life. These photos are from a day spent watching David practice for a small tournament and discussing life in between holes.

After living in New York City for the last 5 years, and having come here since high school I finally made it out to see Lady Liberty. These images were taken toward the end of last October before the election in the U.S., it felt pretty awesome to be there at a sight where we once welcomed immigrants to forge a more diverse country unlike any other. When I was editing these images I began to feel down about the state of the nation, but trying to be hopeful that the country can find a way to embrace our diversity again.

Last November I had the chance to travel to San Juan and Vieques, Puerto Rico to work on a photo shoot for Eddie Bauer. I had two days notice to sort it all out. It was a nice break from New York, and all the darkness that followed the election results back home. Our crew bonded quickly as we mourned the state of the nation.
