I got to see one if my favorite paintings by Paul Gauguin during a trip to the Boston Museum of Art. I like it because it asks big questions. Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? (Those three questions are literally the title of the piece.) From right to left we see the journey of life as Gauguin imagined it on the Pacific island of Tahiti, with a baby, curious youths and on the far left, an old woman contemplating what her life amounted to. Anyway go see this piece in person when you're in Boston, as this picture doesn't do it justice and it's chock full of interesting symbolism. @mfaboston #mfaboston #boston #art #gauguin #paulgauguin #painting #classics #modernism #museum #arthistory #symbols #life #death #journey #style #universal #mystery #tahiti #origin @authordanbrown (at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston)
