okay so essentially laney is a teenage girl who writes hamlet/horatio fanfiction and has an unrequited crush on her best friend nat. nat is chronically suicidal and a large part of their friendship is laney calming nat down when she’s overwhelmed and triggered.

nat and laney both sing in a choir, and nat asks laney to set her up with the girl she has a crush (emmy) on in exchange for letting laney get the solo for their spring concert. the scenes with laney setting nat and emmy up coincide with laney writing her hamlet fics, with emmy filling the role of ophelia.

nat convinces laney to kiss her as practice for kissing emmy, and afterwards tells laney that she hopes they stay friends for the rest of her life, and laney breaks down and tells nat that she can’t hear nat vent about being suicidal anymore. nat runs off and ends up attempting while laney auditions for the solo in choir.

laney visits nat in inpatient, and they come to a kind of tense understanding that they cannot go back to the way their friendship used to be. laney does not get the solo and the play ends with a monologue from laney about her resentment and guilt and grief about their friendship but under the guise of hamlet.

the play is called dream role! I saw it at a college in chicago this weekend. it was awesome

OKAY so usually i'd leave this up to like. whatever the actors play so that's the boring part im sorry fdjghgd BUT

the cool thing is what you can do with the instruments!!! like in my idea for les mis, valjean steals an instrument (probably a woodwind or a string instrument) from the bishop instead of silver

and fantine gives her instrument (i've always pictured violin or viola for her) to valjean when she dies, and then he gives fantine's instrument to cosette!!

all the music stops when cosette and marius bump into each other (except for the music they're playing!!)

javert gets to sit down at a piano and accompany himself for stars

music represents love, so eponine and marius are never playing at the same time :(

and then in a little fall of rain, eponine and marius finally get to play together! probably with her sitting on his lap and them playing the piano together

hello i would like to know more about the musical you wrote based on the awakening of spring

HI HELLO THANK YOU SO MUCH so it's set in 1955 at a catholic boarding school, but there are a few twists! one, moritz and wendla's plotlines are switched! wendla (or audrey, the character based on her), deals with mental health and suicide, while moritz (or keith, the character based off him) deals much more with sex and sexuality. and two, vivian, the character based off thea, is kind of an amalgamtion of both thea and hanschen! clyde (the hanschen character still exists), but now both of them have a character arc and (surprise) they're both gay
