Beyond the Unseen It took a while but here you have it: @angryducktimemachines sweet Nu in a more... mature manner. ;) Thanks for borrowing her, I head a lot of fun even if it took me so freaking long to finish her! Overall I tried to show her besides her cute side more grown up and older looking. I hope I caught the right proportions for her body type, too.

Queen Hatshepsut of Ancient Egypt. She has a lovely smile for someone who’s been dead for thousands of years.

she wasn’t a queen. she was a pharaoh and wanted to be referred to as such. she even had her statues modeled after the male pharaoh’s statues to state her dominance and authority. she was actually one of the most successful pharaohs in all of ancient egyptian history and she reigned longer than any other woman in power in egypt.

the next Pharaoh after her Tuthmosis III  tried to erase Hatshepsut out of history ,chiseled her name off her monuments ,covered the text on her obelisks with stone,knocked down and defaced her statues .

she was even left off the list of pharaohs ..talk about some patriarchy bullshit

her name was lost for a couple of millennia, her body was found in a unmarked grave  in early twentieth century

sad part is in Egyptian belief is  if your are forgotten in the living world you don’t exist in the afterlife,so he was trying to kill her even in death

I’m just picturing the Kemetic afterlife. All the Pharaohs are hanging out in some kind of swanky club, drinking and congratulating each other on being bros. 

The doors slam open and Hatshepsut strides in, glorious, robes swirling, rocking the fake beard and the insane amounts of wealth and power. “Miss me, bitches?”

Mhhhhh... I think we all forget some important details in this story.

First, Tuthmosis III would be the legitimate hire to the throne. But as his father Tuthmosis II died he was only two years old and not capable to reign Egypt so Hatshepsut took over the throne and crowned herself. (It wasn't that uncommon for a woman in Egypt to rule a few years when the male part was for example underaged or co reign with her husband. The border Hatshepsut broke was that she crowned herself to pharaoh - not ruling.)

After her death 20 years later it was finally Tuthmosis turn and because Hatshepsut took the throne from him away its easy to believe that Tuthmosis wanted to eras her from history out of rage. But this wasn't the case. Indeed, he destroyed her legacies first twenty years after her death and even keept her cartouche and figure intact in not so public places like shrines and tombs. Over all her extinction was very superficial.

Hatshepsut erasing from history was most likely not an act of rage and hate but had a more religious background. In ancient Egypt Ma'at, shortly the balance trough everything, was one of the biggest influences in this society. This is one of the reasons why the women in old egyptian society were in nearly any belonging equal to men. Hatshepsut broke this balance as she set herself on the throne and calling out herself as Pharaoh. On the same hand the Egyptian believed that the Pharaoh was the living embodiment of Horus - a male god.

So... even Hatshepsut was a great Pharaoh, even she tried to act and look like a man to maintain Ma'at it wasn't enough for stubborn egypt to keep her in history. But enough to bury her in the valley of the pharaohs - not besides the queens.

Sure this isn't fair, but we all should keep in mind that those were other times. And besides that, just the act of her people and Tuthmosis burying her next to the other pharaohs - she was afterwards moved but first Hatshepsut was buried by the pharaohs - not the wives and infringe with that clearly Ma'at should make clear how respected she was by her people and her stepson. I think.

After the battle 

Rewachted Jedi Night tonight and even if this episode is crammed with emotions, I wanted to draw a Hera with more than a single tear on her face. She lost her other half, and even she’s a bad ass and strong woman there’s nothing to be ashamed about mourning and crying about the being she probably loved the most up to this point. Maybe after the battle, after the war... when the time is right and still and there's finally time to let your emotions flow.

Summer Vibes
