The awful way certain mental illness are stigmatized and immediately set you up for involuntary holds regardless of how much a danger you pose to yourself or others (not that "being dangerous" is even a reason to imprison someone bc a) incredibly subjective and b) should never be the first option in any case)
Like if you're schizophrenic (which you know better than me how schizophrenia is regarded) or bipolar or narcissistic or anything other than "mild" anxiety or depression, you are immediately pathologized and dehumanized and you will never have your experiences taken seriously
I'm fairly certain I have OCD and the amount of jokes I've had made at my expense from counselors and a therapist about being a "neat freak" (don't even have that brand of compulsion) or whatever is sooo humiliating and dehumanizing. I don't self harm like my sister did, and she got it so much worse. Even other mentally ill friends don't take me that seriously when I talk about how debilitating some of my compulsions are
Idk there not much of a point to this aside from ranting a little to someone who understands how desperate someone can get to be viewed as a person and not a collection of symptoms to be treated or tucked away from society forever 😮💨
Yeah it's like we get placed somewhere on a scale from "high functioning enough for your struggles to be entirely dismissed" to "so mentally broken there's no point in actually trying to help you anyway" and none of us ever wins.
