This is one of my friend’s characters, Lola! Tbh I got super stuck on the shading and background, so I decided to keep her flat and move on. My buddy was very happy though, and that’s what it’s all about!

My first ever art fight attack! And my first ever time doing pixel art! Anyan’s character Pochi reminded me of a tamagotchi character so… I made them one. Background is from the tamagotchi uni, but lil Pochichi is all me!

Me??? Actually making a ref for a character I’ve had for over a year???? Crazy!!!

One of my irl friends is also doing artfight so she’s been a huge motivator for me. She wants to attack me and she can’t do that without a ref!

This is Rowan, the head of my magical girl team, same one from that animation I did. (She doesn’t have a civilian form ref yet, I have 3 more members to finish first!)

Were any of y’all shopkins and/or shoppies kids? I was like 8 when someone gave me some shoppies for my birthday and I was OBSESSED. I remember I would sort all my lil guys by category, then I used old toy boxes, cardboard, and scrapbook paper to make a little mall on top of my dresser. (there was a mall play set but my parents didn’t want to spend $50 on a hunk of plastic, which I was salty about at the time but making my own was definitely more fun in the end and got me to be more creative) The shops all had different themes and then when the dolls came out I had each of them run a store, and Peppa Mint was the mayor, but her twin sister (also Peppa Mint) owned a ice cream business… it was my jam.

Anyway! I was looking back at the doll designs and it’s kinda wild how much they influenced me? Like I haven’t posted my magical girls here much but there are some striking similarities! So when I wanted to do a “draw yourself in different art styles” challenge, shoppies was a must. I made myself art themed, of course, and was able to steal some elements from the one boy doll they ever made to see how they would do short hair.

The hair is a little too tame and I want to make a box background, but that’s for another day. But paint tube tank top might be made in real life…

"what's the worst thing you can do as an artist" is not "shade with black" or "not use references" or whatever the worst thing you can do as an artist is hate yourself. and that includes the person you used to be

"look at how bad my old art is" "this was so cringe" "it's embarrassing to look at this" what are you gaining here? belatedly being your own bully? is it more acceptable to hate a kid if it's the kid you used to be? shut the fuck up. be kind to yourself or don't say anything at all. people are really not laughing with you when you mock yourself and if they are maybe consider hanging out with nicer people. imo.

this also goes for having your personal blog tags be like "nobody cares (name)" or "shut up (name)" or whatever. why are you being mean to yourself. its not preventing other people from being mean to you just because you get the first shot in it just means you get shot twice. how is that better. how is any of that better

Life has been a lot, how do I manage this you ask? By making 1:12 scale replicas of my XPen and desk chair.

(I printed out several screens for the monitor and I can change the angle of the stand by bending it so it can either be showing a show or game or in drawing mode which is fun)

Woo! My first ever finished animation project! Before this I’ve only scribbled out two vague storyboards but this was for a class. The beginning is really stiff and the end I feel like the principals weren’t great, but it’s done! This is one of my ocs, Roan, who I’ve had for a like over year but never post my art of because I always forget. (Hell I finished this like a month ago and just now remembered to actually put it up)
