One: we will not be comparing schizophrenics to the vile monsters pictured above. The poor things have enough on their plate without being further demonized. Two: as an ex-Christian, it is very tempting to "no true Scotsman" your way out of association with less-than-stellar Christians. Plenty of morally upstanding Christians do it on the regular whenever they are faced with the actions of vile people who happen to share their faith. But the truth is, saying Trump and his cronies aren't Christians is just a way of avoiding accountability. Of shoving the sins of the Church onto its most sinful members and using them as a scapegoat. And contrary to what this person thinks, the "support network" of the Church is not a cure for people's sins. You cannot peer pressure bad people into behaving morally. At most, you can just make them pretend to be good. Especially because I am sure the evangelicals of today regularly "attend church"-that is, they enter a physical building to worship-and still they behave like this. The "living Church" is only encouraging evil just like it has since Constantine's conversion. Ensnared around the soul of Western Christianity are twin serpents: one is the power it has (or had) over vast civilizations as a whole, the other is a persecution complex. To reconcile these two opposing concepts, many Christians of all stripes imagine a "pure" version of Christianity as existing out there, one which is oppressed by the corrupt social order of the day. A social order which includes whatever corrupted form Christianity they think dominates society. If they are progressive, this corrupt Christianity is Christofascism. If they're not, it's any form of Christianity remotely aligned with progressive values. If they're wildly un-progressive, then it's any form that, well, isn't their denomination. TL;DR, there is no escaping Christian privilege by calling your enemies Satanic. All you're doing is entrenching it further.
