minghao as your boyfriend

notes: happy new year! my first post in a Long time but here's to more writing in 2024... let's do this!

lots of quiet moments together. even in loud, crowded rooms, minghao still finds a way to give you little moments of solace with a hand in yours and quiet, whispered conversations.

art gallery dates! so many art gallery dates. every time a new one opens, you're equally excited to go visit. sometimes you'll both quietly share your interpretations of the different pieces with each other, and sometimes you'll just bask in the beauty of the creations and simply being able to experience it together.

very endeared by you. you will simply exist and he'll let out his soft giggle, burying his face in your shoulder, pinching your cheeks, and kissing all over your face when you guys are alone together. you're confused when he first does it, asking what you did for him to be so impossibly fond. he just responds with a you're so cute, baby and it makes you far more flustered than you're willing to admit.

very protective over you. not because he thinks you're weak–you're one of the strongest people he knows–but he's very gentle with you anyways. he does everything he can to make sure you don't get hurt, and is very, very attentive to you. you've been doing everything yourself for so long, he just wants to take care of you.

you're both a very fashionable couple. long trench coats, nail designs, matching colour schemes. everybody is intimidated by you until they catch you giggling together in a corner.

loves having you in his lap. he'll wrap his hands around your waist and rest his cheek on your shoulder, quietly telling you how much he appreciates everything about you.

he will casually say the most devastating things, randomly, while he traces little shapes on your hip. baobei, i'd give you all the stars if you ask. you're my warm patch of sunlight, my safe space. everything slows down when i'm with you. little i love you's scattered all over the things he says to you.

he gets uncharacteristically shy when you compliment him. the first time you do it, it's when he got his nails done differently and you told him it was pretty and his ears went very red. you've taken advantage of it ever since.

takes you on romantic dinner dates, well thought out and so, so perfect.

he teaches you how to slow dance, even through all the times you accidentally step on his foot. he twirls you and kisses you so sweetly, you could turn to putty in his hands.

a Very good kisser. i could expand on this but the brain worms are simply too strong. but he's Good with his tongue. the first time you really kiss him, you pull away very breathless and tell him just that. the only thing he answers you with is a small smug smile and a gentle peck, so different from the heated makeout session.

takes the best photos of you and hypes you up while he does it. the only reason your instagram feed looks so good is because of his amazing photography skills.

scrunches his nose and pretends to think about it for a long time. says no with a deadpan face but he's already leaning over to peck you lightly on the lips. is still pretending like it's a chore for him, but you're smiling so happily and he can't hide the pinkness of his ears and the smile tugging at his lips from seeing you so happy too

clicks his tongue all offended like "wdym have i not been showering you in affection enough???" but is also just so willing to take your hand and tug you closer to kiss you. the type to smile against your lips as he pulls away and then kisses you one more time for good measure, before going back to whatever he was doing before like nothing happened

does that annoying thing where he wiggles his eyebrows all teasingly when you ask for a kiss, before he laughs and throws an arm around your shoulders, kissing you on the cheek. and then on the nose. and then on the mouth. he's holding it over your head for at least a week tho bc you asking for kisses defo inflated his ego so much

✧ claims that sitting on his lap while he does it is necessary

✧ “sit here” he says, patting his lap, “i need you up close”

✧ tries to be as gentle as he can

✧ whines when eyeliner is hard to do then he whines even more when you laugh at him

✧ lowkey pranks you by telling you he’ll attempt one look but he does something very different

✧ nothing crazy, like he wouldn’t purposefully make you look bad by any means

✧ but maybe he wants to gently push you out of your comfort zone so he picks a new eyeshadow color, but still subtly does it so it isn’t too vivid

✧ “you said you were gonna do my usual!” you gasped when you finally checked yourself in the mirror

✧ he actually did pretty well, you were just caught off guard

✧ “i always wondered how you’d look like this” he tells you, “and would you look at that, i knew you’d look so good”

✧ he likes to watch when you get ready most of the time so he knew your routine for the most part

✧ he mutters to himself “wait, this is not it, wait, don’t look in the mirror right now,” as he’s scrambling for your concealer

✧ he’s so fun, he wants to do a matching look with you

✧ wants to go for something edgy, maybe some soft smokey eyeshadow

✧ APPALLED when you flinch away from him when he’s holding your eyeliner

✧ he’s already talking in pout when he goes “have i ever hurt you before? baby trust me”

✧ he’s so pouty from that point on and he’s even more motivated to make you pretty (well, more pretty than you already are)

✧ “here, look” he tells you, holding out a mirror so you can examine his work

✧ you gasp, “‘gyu you did so good!” he’s blushing but still a little sulky

✧ “see? i’d never hurt you! you had no reason to flinch!”

✧ “i know, i know” you assure him, taking your usual seat in his lap to wrap your arms around his neck to snuggle him. “thank you baby, i love it” (you know he’s already forgiven you when he wraps his strong arms around your waist to pull you closer)

✧ his lips are pursed and frankly, he’s starting to sweat because he’s passionate about getting you to look even better than you already do

✧ 10/10 look in the end, you could easily wear it out

✧ he was surprised at your request to do your makeup but he agrees. though he does warn you it might not look great

✧ “you trust me with this?” he double checks as soon as you lay out your supplies on the desk

✧ “of course i do” this makes him grin

✧ he doesn’t look up anything but he lets you talk him through your steps and his touch is so light and a little awkward as he swipes across your eyelid

✧ he can’t hold his reactions when he messes up though, and he’s kind of like 😬 in that very specific vernon way. “i think you’re gonna wanna do this part babe” and he watches so intently as you do it

✧ amidst this though, he does learn about your process and even if he can’t do your look for you entirely, he might offer to do parts of your routine for you in the future. if you’re tired as you’re getting ready in the morning maybe he can lay your foundation for you and your concealer - the parts of your process that aren’t too intricate.

✧ future vernon maybe even offers to take off your makeup for you at the end of a day instead

whiny, so so whiny. gets jealous instantly. the moment your dog pads into the room and your eyes are no longer on him, he's demanding your attention back and pouting and looking all sad. is acting like a puppy himself, actually. doesn't even care if your puppy is the cutest thing in the entire world because he's meant to be your cutest puppy.

gets offended for all of five seconds when you stop talking when your dog comes into the room but then you show him your dog and he's just absolutely enamoured by the adorable puppy, cooing and asking you a million questions ranging from how old your dog is to whether he's allowed to steal it

you get distracted when your dog starts whining for your attention and stop listening to him talking but he doesn't even care bc he's just smiling and taking a video of you cooing over your puppy bc he's never seen you baby talk anyone or anything like that before and it's adorable

"you're staring at me."

you startle at the sudden sound, the low rumbling of mingyu's voice, crinkling your eyes fondly at the way his eyes stay closed.

you had spent the night the day before at your boyfriend's place, and you almost forgot just how nice waking the slow process of waking up was when you were together.

you woke up first, opting to memorize the facial features you'd seen a thousand times before– he looked beautiful in the mornings. the sunlight filtering in through the window, though stinging your eyes a little, turned his tanned skin golden. a fair trade, you thought.

"no," despite yourself, you smiled at the way he slowly opened his eyes to look at you, squinting at the light. "i was looking at the wall."

he let out a tired little giggle, pulling you closer to bury his face into your neck, mumbling about how warm you are.

you were still tangled together, and when you pulled your face back from where it was buried in the crook of mingyu's neck to see his face better, he pulled you in by your waist and grumbled softly in his sleep. you were much closer, tempted to touch every mole on his face you can see but afraid to wake him up.

"good morning, baby," he says, voice lowered to a whisper as he looks up to make eye contact with you. his lips brush against your jawline, and you feel the way he smiles when you inevitably shiver.

"g'morning, my mingyu," you feel the sides of your mouth pulling up with a grin. "you have a mole on your cheek. s'cute."

you lean in to kiss it, the way you'd been wanting to all morning. his nose scrunches with a fond smile when you do. "mmh, is that what you were staring at all morning?"

"no," you scoff, mock-offended. "i was looking at the mole on your nose, too."

when you reach to kiss the mole on his nose, he holds your jaw and redirects the kiss so you peck him on the lips, instead. "as long as you kiss me, you can be creepy about my moles all you want."

you gape at his mischievous smile. "i'm not being creepy, i'm just observant!"

he kisses you again, mumbling against your lips that you're so cute, but it gets difficult when you both dissolve into a fit of giggles. you decide to just hold each other.

(his arms around you feeling like a promise.)

eventually, you wrap your arms around his bare waist, marveling at just how warm he is despite the fact that he only went to sleep in a pair of shorts. "we have to make breakfast, we said we'd made pancakes. remember?"

he hums an affirmative but squeezes you closer. "do we have to get up now? it's a saturday..."

you sit up (it takes an insane amount of strength– mingyu really is warm) and you hold his hands in yours, your heart warming at how he immediately squeezes, sitting up with you.

so you get up, brush your teeth alongside each other and smile when you make eye contact in the mirror, your heart turning over at the domesticity of it all. you could spend every morning like this, you think. for the rest of your life.

and when he's flipping the pancakes (technically, it was your job to flip the pancakes and his to make the batter, but you had gotten distracted because he had kissed you so sweetly, and the pancake was forgotten in your daze), you snake your arms around his waist and sigh contently.

"(y/n)?"

"mmh?"

"i love you."

you turned the words over in your head. how your love with mingyu almost felt tangible with how much of it there was– you didn't think you could ever feel like this with anyone.

"i love you, too."
