I'm probably going to be around a lot less. I've only got two classes this semester, but they're intensely involved. I'm really sorry; I was looking forward to RPing with you all.

how fucking idiotic do youhave to be to think frerin was fili & kili's father
even if you think there's incest shit going on, the time between his death and their birth was LONGER THAN THE TIME HE'D BEEN ALIVE.
re the question I asked a few days back (I'm sorry if it sounded like speculation): Is it possible for Frerin to be Kili and Fili's father?
I’m 99.9% sure that Frerin is not Kili and Fili’s father. For a couple reasons:
Tolkien never says that they’re Frerin’s sons. And, given how much Tolkien loved genealogy, that’s actually a pretty strong point. If Kili and Fili were Frerin’s sons, Tolkien definitely would have mentioned it at some point.
On the family tree of Durin’s Line that Tolkien includes in the Lord of the Rings Appendices, Kili and Fili are shown as being Dis’s sons, not Frerin’s. The fact that Dis is even included on the family tree is more support for the fact that Frerin wasn’t their father - Tolkien states himself that women were generally not included in family trees among the dwarves. Women wouldn’t even be included in the heir of the family line inherited his position through her - there would just be a gap in the family tree. Tolkien says that Dis was only included because of her son’s heroic and honorable deaths. If Frerin had been Kili and Fili’s father, then Dis probably wouldn’t have been included, and the family tree would certainly show it.
Tolkien never talks about incest with specific regard to the dwarves. But, the only times it ever comes up, Tolkien usually considers first cousins to be too closely related for marriage (this is the rule among the elves, as well as the Edain/Numenoreans/Dunedain.) I actually thought long and hard about whether or not the lower percentage of women among the dwarves would make them more or less tolerant of cousins - or even siblings - marrying, and honestly I came up with arguments for both sides. But I’m still pretty positive that Tolkien (based on his strong Catholic/Christian beliefs) wouldn’t have been able to condone “incestuous” marriages among any of his cultures.) So, basically, I just don’t think that he’d have Frerin and Dis marrying, since their brother and sister.

((Here’s the family tree for the Line of Durin, as it appears in Tolkien’s appendices (I cut off the top half, though, since it wasn’t relevant.)))
1. Frerin was prepubescent when he died.
2. Frerin died in 2799. Fili was born in 2859. Unless dwarves have some SERIOUSLY long incubation periods....

And I will put your url in this masterlist here. OC’s and possible genderbents will be added as well.
Frerin drew his sword slowly, keeping the sound of metal on metal as quiet as possible. There was someone else in the wood, and he knew from experience that they were unlikely to be a friendly face.
